Colemon70 reacted to gmanbat in Buying a suit at Macy's today..NSV
Before my surgery I went to Macy's and looked at the beautiful and way too small suits and told them, "I'll be back and you'll be mine!"
    That day has come.
My size is not only on the rack now, it is down the rack to the smaller sizes!
I'm a minister, I need a good black suit for marrying and burying and for special services. Now my size is the one I had when I married my first couple when I was in my 20's, the groom bought me a Johnny Carson suit. I loved that suit, I wore it out.
Macy's has Donald Trump, Micheal Kors, and Kenneth Cole suits that look good. I don't know what I'll get but I know it's going to be fun. Knowing me, I will probably tell the salesperson the story.
God has indeed smiled on me, with His help I've dumped hated burdens and gained many great friends here in this forum.
I'll post pics when I can.

Colemon70 reacted to gmanbat in Help! I'm soooo very afraid of blood clots.
Sorry for the multiple posts, folks. I just felt that this subject needed to be addressed due to the high anxiety level about it. Anyone else feel free to post what you can find and make observations.
Not to minimise any of this but all operations carry the risk of blot clots, especially hip replacements and ones that make you sedentary after the operation.

Yes that's the one. I know I'm not allowed to have it. I called my NUT to see if I could have plain lettuce to get me by. Not allowed . I admire all of you that stuck to the diet. It's very difficult! I'm still on board, as of now! Thanks to vst!

Thank you! I think the lack of eating has made me super emotional. I'm writing a journal, god forbid anything bad happens. I never had surgery. I know walking outside is a risk but I'm scared. I just keep reading the positives

I need to thank u all for posting suggestions and just your experiences, Most all of you guys on this site have been such inspirations to me....I started all my preparations in Dec, finished all appointments by late Jan and just went they my surgery this morning!! I'm laying in my room and I have to tell you thus far the worse part of it is the cotton mouth...I'm praying the gas pain doesn't hit me like a freight train or at all but we all know its gonna come lol but I'm so ready to get to my next step and enjoy life the way I use to! But i have to say I was getting scared last night only bc of the sad news of the fellow sleever, I feel so sad for his family. But it's the chances we take and sadly it happens so all prayers welcome here.

Thanks for the encouragement!! And you are doing so well! My diet consists of Protein Shakes, veggie broth, sugar free Water ice and Popsicles. And sugar free Jello. I keep looking at the paper thinking I'm missing something like at least a meal a day or some vegetables.... Not the case, it says NO food in bold letters

After two weeks I weighed exactly the same as I did the day I went into the hospital. I was... very upset. But I started losing this week finally.
My cravings were rage inducing. Now that I'm on soft foods and can eat more foods, and slowly starting to accept how little I can eat now, the cravings are lessening. Still, the day I can have two bites of pizza, I will weep with joy.

    So here's an update!!!
Today has been filled with tons of answers!!
I have esophageal spasms. Most likely from the stents I had in. I received this diagnosis and treatment today. The greatest things is the medicine works!! I was able to eat WITHOUT severe pain, nausea or vomiting. I have not been able to eat normally in a long time. I am SO HAPPY!! I can eat and not suffer. I feel like a human today.
Nephrologist said to take these meds for a year and pass my stones at home alone. ???? My PCP said see the Urologist and get a second opinion!!! I called and there is a month wait!!! The dr reviewed my record and said I need to be seen sooner. I am being seen Thursday!! ????
I am SO EXCITED AND HAPPY!! I can now eat like normal Sleevers and there is an end in sight!!!

Colemon70 reacted to TES in My sleeve-friendly birthday weekend!
I am almost 6 weeks out from my surgery. I had a birthday yesterday and had a wonderful time. I did not miss the birthday cake at all!
On Friday, my mom had a dinner and she asked if there was anything special that I would like, like she always does. I sent her a recipe for a low-fat eggplant ricotta bake, and it was delicious! In fact, many family members who could have had much carbier/less healthful dishes also on the menu, opted to have my special dish as well. After dinner, we played a rousing game of Catchphrase--way better than fattening dessert!
My mom also gave me an ice cream maker. I made my version of Eggface's chocolate Peanut Butter Protein "ice cream" today and it was sooo good. The ingredients were soy milk, chocolate Protein powder, white chocolate SF Syrup, and powdered/defatted peanut butter (JustGreatStuff--an organic version of PB2). It was just as good, if not better, than traditional ice cream, and nutritionally, it was the same as a Protein shake (I ate 3.5 ounces as a meal and have another serving left over). I felt like I was eating a giant Reese's cup--but with 15 g of protein and about 125 calories.
Today my husband got carryout Mexican food and I enjoyed some delicious refried Beans with fresh salsa, cheese and Greek yogurt (I am a vegetarian--they were lard-free). I have enough refried beans left over to get me thru several more meals.
My husband usually works weekends but took yesterday and today off and we had a great time just spending time together. He bought me a huge bouquet of my favorite flowers, daffodils.
Yesterday, we got a lot of shopping and a lot of walking in. Tomorrow I'm going to officially start back with my Water aerobics classes (I had to wait 6 weeks to restart any type of formal exercise class, though I have been walking).
I truly did not miss anything this year--not even a fancy dinner out or birthday cake. I feel lucky to have had VSG and I really enjoyed my time with loved ones this weekend. Here's to new traditions and a new, healthier way of life!
Note: here is a photo of the ice cream. It looks like a huge portion but it's 3.5 ounces in a teeny tiny dessert dish that I bought at an auction many years ago. I always wished I had a use for it and now I do!
