Well my surgery date is the 14th of may. When I did the band there was 6 months of crap to deal with with my Insurence. ,,, sooooo I was beyond ready. But since in paying for it out if my pocket I walked in today and said how far back is scheduling ? They said the 14th and I said sign me up. Now I just hope I don't back out of it. I'm really ready to get rid of this band ,,, and actually have a good shot at losing weight and keeping it off.

Anyone that is about to get this surgery. Please practice eating and drinking slowly. You will be sorry that you didn't. I didn't practice and have paid several times for eating to quick. You really need to practice when you are really hungry and really thirsty, when we tend to drink and eat fast.

mysleevemylife reacted to WeightStruggle in My love affair with food is FINALLY over!
Tonight I realized that my love affair with food has come/is quickly coming to an end. The things I used to drool over no longer have any effect on me. A couple bites and I am completely satisfied. No more eating Breakfast while daydreaming about what I'm having for lunch and dinner. I have to admit that it makes me kind of sad. Food was such a huge crutch for me for so long. However, I'm loving the new me!! Just thinking out loud. Hope you are all doing well on your journeys.

Sorry, it was kind of a debbie downer post. I wasn't trying to dampen your excitement. It IS very awesome to be satisfied with only a few bites! I was just trying to inject some reality because in the first few months many many people feel they have conquered their love affair with food, but very often when they are further out and can eat more food...especially when you become aware of your slider foods...you realize that your love affair will rear it's ugly head again if you aren't very conscious about keeping it in check. I say it because knowledge is power. Knowing it will help you to conquer it. but yes, being satisfied with only a few bites is a wonderful thing!!

I'll be 6wks out tomorrow. :-) I tried a half cup of iceberg lettuce with french dressing on it approx 1 wk ago & it went down just fine...no issues at all. My fav is Wendy's small ceasar salad with pomgranate (spelling??) dressing. I can eat the entire thing! The dressing is sweet & satisfying to me. I also enjoy the grilled leg from KFC with a side of small mashed potatoes & I KEEP THE SKIN ON! Haha...my nut said to take skin off all chicken & I though "No, I'm gonna try this & it's not gonna make me gain. I know it." & I was right. I had no issue at all with the skin. Let's see, I like Taco bell crunchy tacos also. They go down great. Inbox me if I can be of any help

I was released on all foods at 4 weeks - though this doesn't seem to be the "norm" if you read here on the boards, but I've been completely fine. I had my first salad between 7-8 weeks out with no problems. I chewed really good and it went down just fine. But I did get full fast! Only about 4 bites and done!
I also have had the grilled snack wraps from McDonalds with no issues. I can only eat about half at a time though because they are filling.

For me they are not a good option. There are to many carbs and not enough Protein. At 7 months out I eat 2 oz of prot for a meal. I would never reach my min of 60 protein if I was eating even 1/2 the meal. I buy a rotiserie chicken once a week and keep it in the fridge. I portion out 2 oz and eat on it all week adding diffrent sauces or cheeses to mix it up. I also buy frozen seasoned fish and pop it in the microwave for a quick meal. Another idea is premade tuna salad in the pouch. All are low carb carb, high protein, quick, and cheap. Hope this helps!

I eat a lot of this stuff. While many will argue they have too much stuff in them (too much salt, too many carbs etc.) I find that they are superb for Portion Control. I eat these and then make sure I eat little else, no piece of bread on the side, no seconds etc.
We also shop around and get the ones with the smallest portions and lowest calories and sugar.

May you could add an option for none as most people do not gain weight. I have gained none. It does fluctuate 2 pounds close to the mentrual period as normal but it goes away in a couple of days.

For the guys - would you rather be superman, batman, hulk, Thor, captain america, gladiator (aka Russell crow) or Spartan ( from "300" movie) and why?
For the gals- what body type would you like to see in your guy or potential guy?
Mine would be Thor. Not huge, but incredible strength and agility. He was still awesome as a mere mortal after powers got stripped.

The only one I have tried is unjury - it is not bad but you need to be careful mixing them with too hot of liquids they kinda glop up a bit after 130 - 140 degrees.
I have mixed it in Soup and honestly a little goes a long way - even though it is called unflavored - it has a distinct taste.
Unjury also has a chicken broth flavored Protein powder that is fairly good.

Im in stage 3 because I'm one month out but i don't like heavy Breakfast. so, Today i wanted a smoothie so i decided to try something out. I drink the pure Protein ready to drink so i took 2 oz of that put it in the blender with 2 oz of greek yogurt (chobani) and one medium strawberry. I bended it and then added 3 cubs of ice, a pack of Splenda, vanilla extract and a pinch of cinnamon and blended it again. It was so delicious and backed with protein. It took me an hour to finish it all but it was so good. If u wanna make it in smaller amount just reduce the amounts.

LOL, I have two of those in my closet that I'd purchased last year while I was on yet another diet. I was feeling sooo good when I'd bought them. I was like "I'll be in these in no time!" Then, I eventually fell off the "wagon" & there they still hang....lonely....and deserted! lol..Yes, I look forward to getting rid of my BIG clothes for good. I day dream about being in a size 9/10 & feeling sexy (which I haven't in a looooong time). I'm so ready for this. God please bless me to get approved.

I asked my NUT about calories, carbs, fat, etc. She told me 1200 cal, 30-40 carbs, watch the fat but didn't give me a #.
I actually only eat 800 on a high day, 30 carbs or less. It is weird, I will stall a week but I drop a size. My body is catching up, I believe. I do a cardio boot camp 4x a week and have a Protein bar or shake for some extra energy.
It helped me to breakup with the scale, we see each other 1x a week. It keeps me from obsessing and being cranky when I don't see what I like.
You are doing great. Keep it up!

Hi everyone! Sleeved on 3/19. Been stalled for a week. I journal everything I put in my mouth and have not gone over 500-600 calories. I use My fitness Pal to track. It logs how much fat, carbs, Protein, sodium, etc for the day. My question is, what are the numbers I should be aiming for each day? I know the protein is 60g but how many carbs should I be getting per day? How much total fat is a good #? My daily totals (except protein) are WAY below what they say I should have each day. I'm going to call my doctor but just wondering what others think. Thanks!!

mysleevemylife reacted to prettylittleheart in Anybody regretted it, even with no complications?
I will be 6 weeks out this Thursday. I don't regret it. I went through a couple days (3 at most) early out after surgery of depression and freaking out thinking WTH did I just do to myself, to my life. But, that's over with. I found ways to make me feel not even deprived at all.
I also come from a huge Italian family & I'm from New Orleans. My family is one that feeds you just to shut you up lol & New Orleans - the food is simply amazing. My life, my family, my friends, sadness, holidays, recreation, whatever the occasion was little or small - it was centered around what I was going to eat, with who, and where. Even at meals, we'd talk about what we wanted to eat next. My whole life literally revolved around food. Now sometimes I have to remind and force myself to eat to keep my metabolism going.
Honestly, I don't miss anything. I was never really a sweets person per say, so that aspect has been obsolete because I've never had a taste for it to begin with. I was big fried food, and Condiments person. But, honestly I don't miss those things either. Soft drinks as well, but now I feel so much better drinking just Water.
The three days that I mourned, I cried over the social aspect because I missed my family and eating with them, but now I still eat with them - just smaller portions & I love seeing the results of enjoying them & not feeling deprived.
It is not an easy journey & I think most of us here go through mourning/regret. I wouldn't change having this surgery. If I had to do it all over again, I'm positive I would. I'm 21 & I finally feel like I am in control & I have a chance of getting my life back. I can say no to foods I shouldn't eat & when I'm ready I know I will be prepared to moderately treat myself. I have followed my diet to a "T" and was so creative even on purées that I haven't missed much of anything.

I made this for lunch today and had to share it was so delicious..
If youre at the stage where you can eat shrimp and veggies this is perfect.
Take 1/2 lb-1 lb jumbo peeled and devined shrimp (depending on how many servings you wanna make) 1lb makes about 4-5
    1 red bell pepper
    1 Tomato (large)
    1 squash
    1 zucchini
    1 Avocado
    1-2 garlic cloves
    1 shallot
    Olive oil
    Salted sweet cream butter
    Peppercorn
    Mince the garlic and shallot.
Dice the red bell pepper, tomato, zucchini and squash to bite size not too small for texture.
In a deep dish place your shrimp add sea salt, black peppercorn, garlic powder, paprika. Let marinade in for a few minutes.
Preheat skillet and add a tablespoon of olive oil once its hot stir in garlic and shallot mix until garlic browns a little (1-2 min). Stir in red bell pepper mix for a minute, add tomato stir for another minute and add rest of veggies. Cook veggies for about 4 min toss in tablespoon of butter, keep stirring.
Toss in shrimp until cooked thoroughly add sea salt and peppercorn to taste.
Place a bed of sliced avocado on a plate and put your shrimp on top. Voila! Enjoy!

Yes, you can actually eat there and not blow you post op eating plans. Look at their 550 calories or less menu. There are wonderful options full of taste from many different spices and flavor. There is enough to make 2-3 meals depending on post op time after DOS within the solids phase. Yummy!

Joe, I tend to have a low resting heart rate and fast recovery time which is good... but my heart goes way way up with exercise beyond what the formulas say it should.. My pcp a few years ago when I first noticed this trend was also a cardiologist. He ran some tests and said I'm perfectly healthy and that I should pay attention to how I'm feeling and to my breathing during exercise and not really worry to much about the heart rate exercise formulas.... my experience should not be mistaken for medical advice.
