Surgery was completed yesterday and I'll be checking out in an hour. Surgery went well and no complications, although the overwhelming nausea is annoying. I'm struggling to get liquids so really need to stay focused on that.

I'll start with the update. I'm currently 389, which is 70lbs GONE FOREVER from my highest weight at the end of 2012. It's so exciting... it somehow seems less daunting to lose the weight since I got out of the 400s. I'm so happy and grateful for my progress so far!
My weight loss isn't really showing IMO, and by that, I mean I don't think others are noticing it. I certainly am, but all my usual clothes still fit, there are some that are bigger than others, but some that were snug before and now just fit like they are supposed to. I can see that the clothes are looser, though - just not quite enough that it's time to start looking for smaller clothes. That will come soon enough, and I'm not looking forward to it! I don't have many clothes in smaller sizes, so that means I'm gonna have to start shopping!
My NSV is: I HAVE BONES, Y'ALL. Bones in my hands! Collarbones! Bones in my feet! I saw my reflection when I was walking to the parking garage at work today, and I happened to see my bones in my feet as I was walking. I was shocked! It's been so long since I saw those bones!! Soon enough I'LL HAVE ANKLES! *gasp* As I write this, I have a ring on my finger that I used to wear as a left hand pinky ring and it's now fitting on my right hand ring finger. Whaaaat??? I can't remember what size this ring is, but I think it's a size 7 - I used to wear a 9 on my right hand ring finger (well 8 1/2 would probably fit, but 9 just felt better). I can see the change in my body and I know that with all this fat sliding off in those places that it's just a matter of time before it starts coming off my belly/hip/thighs. I'm starting to feel like a lady again, and it's wonderful!

    Hi
I have posted pics here before but I took a new after photo yesterday morning so here it is.
I was sleeved 21st January 2013. My start and current weight are on the pics but I'll say in lbs for all you Americans haha.
    Before 247lbs
    After 162lbs
    I'm about 20-30lbs from goal.

I don't have answers to your questions but can tell you I too have all kinds of things going on in my head as I prepare for my surgery on the 31st. I think that's normal (hopefully). This is a great place for support and I wish you the very best on your journey. Sounds like you've come a long way so far which is super encouraging.

Surgery was 11/15/12, before pic was taken on 11/13/12 after losing 25lbs roughly on the Clear liquids. and the new pic was from this past Saturday 5/25/13 so roughly 6 months plus 10 days.
I guess its safe to say their is a visible difference. Strangely at times I still feel like a have a long ways to go, but those around me are astounded at the progress.

    Wags,
I was sleeved on May 20. I got to the hospital at 5:30 am. Went to surgery at 7 am. Total time in surgery was about 45 minutes. I was in my room at about 10 am. I set a goal to be up and walking at noon. I took my first walk at 12:30. I had alot of nausea from anesthesia, but received medication for it Zofran then Phenergan. I walked a total of 5 times day of surgery. I was discharged at 2 pm on May 21. I have been feeling really good. Just a little sore. Went back to sleeping in my own bed right away using a pillow to splint my stomach( I am a side sleeper). I have not had a big problem getting in my fluids. The Protein shakes I liked on preop diet did not sit well with my stomach(made me a little nauseated) so I went and got the Protein Shots.< /p>
    Good Luck May 31st sleevers!

The good news is you WILL loose weight & prob pretty fast with your BMI. That should boost your ego & keep you motivated for quiet awhile. Yes, you can blow it & abuse your sleeve....but you should not ever be able to get where you are now. Just stay as focused as you are & you should do great! You WILL slip....we ALL do, & the good thing is the sleeve has its own way of reminding you it's there...& get back on track...just learn to listen to it! Good luck & keep us posted! :-)

Kailisa, glad you're joining us! One more week and we are all going to have our stories to tell. That's great that you are teaching yourself to sip. I think that's a little hard to do, but post surgery we will all be doing that for sure! I love your positive attitude! I've been on my liquid diet for one week ( I have a 2 week total preop) and it gets easier after the first few days. I took a lot of acetaminophen those first three days to help with the headaches :-)

I'm traveling the journey with you. This time next week I would have been sleeved too. I have been thinking about the surgery quite a bit. Im working hard at being positive and excited. I spent today learning how to sip in little quantities. Its awkward but I am going to keep working at it. I start the liquid diet in the morning.
If you all can try to relax and envision your new healthy you. Take deep breaths and enjoy your journey.

I'm two days out and just got out of the hospital. I'm feeling pretty good. It's a challenge to get the Water and Protein shake in, but I'm just sipping as often as I can. Luckily they were able to do the surgery laparascopically, so I'm not as sore as I would have been with an open incision.
I'm looking forward to actually sleeping tonight instead of being woken up every hour or so at the hospital.
I did put on a couple pounds - others have said it's due to the constant IV hydration in the hospital.
I have been spending some time walking, it helps with the gas and aches and pains. Did 33 laps around the hospital floor yesterday. Today I'm just walking around the block. My house is small so if I want to walk it must be outside.
I was really lucky that I didn't have nausea after surgery. I'm just trying to learn how much I should have with my sleeve. So far I just take a sip or 2 then wait 10 or 15 minutes and do it again.
Best of luck to you for your May 31st surgery!

I was sleeved this morning. So far everything has went great. I woke up in moderate pain in the center of chest epigastric area. It was from the gas. My incisions are not sore at all. So far I have took sips of Water and ate ice chips with no pain or nausea. The doctor said that everything looks good. I am just peeing my brains out because all the IV fluids. Other then that all is good

Well, I was sleeved this morning at 8am. I woke up in some pain and it took a while to fully wake up. Over all it's been way better than I expected. So far the hardest thing has been the internal gas left from the laparoscopy, gas-x doesn't help, and the cotton mouth. My incisions don't hurt. I've been able to walk 10 laps of the floor in 2-4 lap increments.
I'm so excited about the future! Can't wait for Clear liquids tomorrow. Beautiful clear Water sounds wonderful.
I'm thankful that it's gone well.

MizzouGirl reacted to skinnygirlin2013 in Hello Everyone . . . .First Post
Hello everyone, my name is Andrea and this is my first post. I am scheduled to have my sleeve on Tuesday, 5/28 at 12:55pmPT and I am so excited, so ready . . .but a little scared (normal, right?). My weight has been a struggle for the last ~10 years and I am so ready to start the next phase of my life where I have a tool that I can use to control it. To tell you how driven I was to take this step - my surgery date is 38 days from my first appointment with Swedish Weightloss Center, 48 days from the seminar I initially attended! I am very lucky to be able to do a private pay and i know that it made it so much easier than struggling with insurance. During the testing I was diagnosed as severly anemic so have been taking Iron infusions up through today in preparation for surgery. I am feeling great now and am really happy that my energy has returned as i was really fearful of how I would cope the first few weeks after surgery.
I have been reading alot of posts and have my grocery list ready to get all the drink flavors, tea's, etc. that folks have recommended to help with the post-op diet. I have really appreciated all of the candor and details that many of you have provided and it has been very inspirational and educational.
Thanks in advance for the support everyone.
    T minus 4 days!!
    Andrea

I feel (and over think) the same way you do. I just want it to be done, so I can move on to the next phase of my life.
My surgery coordinator from Cancun, Sheri Burke, told me this: "please do enjoy your weekend and get very happy about the big event that you are about to have. Your life is about to get very exciting. You need to move all of your "skinny jeans" to the front of your closet - you'll be wearing them very soon !"
That made me feel so happy!
I'm on my Pre-op diet already (day 6) and I miss food a little bit, but I'm past the first couple days so I'm not feeling hungry. Just have a headache a lot. No big deal.
I went to see Ironman last weekend and didn't think about the surgery the whole time! Woohoo!
Going to the KC Royals game on Monday and I get to spend the day there with my (grown) children before I head to Cancun on Thursday :-)
Trying to keep the days filled and fun :-)

Hi everyone; I am sleeved as of 3pm yesterday! Normally I would enter this as a blog, but I'm in hospital still and using my phone so positing in the forum is easier. I will blog more detail later.
I am doing really REALLY well. Not gonna lie, it hurt when I woke up from surgery and I combatted a few waves of nausea but I was able to breathe through it and not heave. The pain was eventually taken care of when they got me dialed in on the right meds. I was up every 2 hrs during the night to use the bathroom. Feeling quite perky this morning & waiting for the Dr. I know I'm here til this afternoon. I am kinda bored actually. But very VERY happy! The staff here is awesome & my husband is an angel & a very good nurse
I know if I keep feeling this frisky I will need to MAKE myself take it easy, because I don't want to over do it and feel bad later.
To my fellow 5/22 sleeves - hope you all are doing well too!
