Hello Everyone . . . .First Post

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, my name is Andrea and this is my first post. I am scheduled to have my sleeve on Tuesday, 5/28 at 12:55pmPT and I am so excited, so ready . . .but a little scared (normal, right?). My weight has been a struggle for the last ~10 years and I am so ready to start the next phase of my life where I have a tool that I can use to control it. To tell you how driven I was to take this step - my surgery date is 38 days from my first appointment with Swedish Weightloss Center, 48 days from the seminar I initially attended! I am very lucky to be able to do a private pay and i know that it made it so much easier than struggling with insurance. During the testing I was diagnosed as severly anemic so have been taking Iron infusions up through today in preparation for surgery. I am feeling great now and am really happy that my energy has returned as i was really fearful of how I would cope the first few weeks after surgery.

I have been reading alot of posts and have my grocery list ready to get all the drink flavors, tea's, etc. that folks have recommended to help with the post-op diet. I have really appreciated all of the candor and details that many of you have provided and it has been very inspirational and educational.

Thanks in advance for the support everyone.

T minus 4 days!!

Andrea

Welcome Andrea! I'm having the sleeve done at Swedish with Dr. McMahon sometime in mid to late June! There are of few of us Swedes in here...keep an eye out! Come to the next Saturday support meeting...even if you're pre sleeve you're welcome- the 2nd Saturday of every month at 10am in the SOI building. Lots of great people there! My husband had his sleeve done by Dr. McMahon last July and is now at goal weight (fiddleman)- he frequently posts on here. Welcome again!

Unfortunately with all I had to do to get ready for surgery and being off work I couldn't make Sat work. I will be at the next Tues and Sat meeting and I look forward to meeting you and your husband. 16 hours until surgery time!

How are you doing after surgery? The support group only meets the 2nd Saturday of every month - next one is June 8th at 10am. That's the one we go to, don't remember when the Tuesday group meets. The groups are led by Brittney and she's great! Hope to see you there!

I am doing much better today, yesterday was just terrible. I couldn't get much down in the afternoon and was having a lot of pain and Gerd like symptoms. Thankfully those have subsided today and the liquids are going down better, not easy - but better. I'll be there on June 8th!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
