Because I want to be halfway there... Rain

My thoughts...enjoy!!! it only happens once a year. That said, I'll overeat but might not even care about the pie...I'm looking forward to stuffing and lima Beans. Cranberries... turkey...yummY... Just don't allow it to rule more than one day..and many many wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving! Rain

YUMMMMMM...literally, this was my biggest fear about being banded...heaven forbid I never eat Peanut Butter again... Well, I can and do eat it..usually about 3 times a week. I put it in a little bowl and dip apple slices into it. Phenomenal...and a good way of getting some Fiber... Haven't had a PB&J as I am not really eating bread products (or trying not to)...but that is my favorite food on earth. If I never have it again, I'll be fine...as long as I can consider myself healthy!!! Rain

My husband and I are both banded...we've lost a total of 183lbs.... So far, the change in bed is amazing. Anyone else??? And what has improved? And what is worse???

I went to the drs. yesterday and realized, while sitting in the waiting room, that my butt didn't fill the entire seat. Then, while at my sister's house, my butt didn't fill her entire seat either. YEAH!!! I love love love NSVs! Oh, and I lost enough weight that the dr. will consider doing something that he wouldn't do 70lbs ago....Best day ever!!! Rain

gently...and told him that I was very very close to passing him and that I wanted him to know because I knew it would upset him. Well, he was bummed for a moment..and then went to the gym this morning. So, thus far it has had a positive side effect! Juli...no, I am thrilled with my weight loss and can't wait to lose more...I'd like to lose 100 lbs by my twins 2nd birthday on January 19th. I can do it!!! It was truly out of a fear that this would result in him quitting rather than going to the gym and trying to kick my butt. I am thrilled to have been proven wrong. I would let it go...I would, however, keep a little note about it with the date etc...and verbatim (or as much as you can)...if you have to report him later, you want to know as much as you can possibly remember.... I had a prof who tried to fail me for missing a test while attending the funeral of my mother...I reported him to the dept head and my grade was swiftly changed. But, you have to be able to go in there with a date and almost exact conversation. Best of luck...it would have bugged me too...unless we had some sort of rapport....then, perhaps, I would have been able to deal with it. Take care, Rain

My cousin is a bariatric surgeon and he recently told me that he doesn't accept anyone over a BMI of 50 because his hospital isn't as equipped as he would like for the myriad of complications that could arise due to the higher BMI... So, perhaps that is her reason... However, you may want to shop around and see if there is a dr. that works out of a "better" ie more equipped hospital! Best of luck...please keep us updated! Rain

Hello all, My husband and I are both banded...He was banded in April 07 and I was banded in July 07. To date, I have lost 73 lbs...and he was up to just shy of 90 lbs, but has been dealing with a ton of family stuff (his mother was just in the hospital for sudden cardiac arrest and a subsequent surgery)...and is now only down 78lbs. I am so excited for myself and thrilled with my progress.... 73 lbs in 4 months is awesome...but, I am very aware that it will destroy my husband if I surpass him in weight loss. I am doing this for me, and I will not jeopardize my weight loss for anyone...but it is killing me that he will be devestated by this... What to do, what to do??? Any suggestions? I adore my husband and I think he is doing a phenominal job...I'm so super proud of him...and I don't want to blow all of what he has gained in self confidence and self worth out of the Water by surpassing him. And we tell eachother every day what we've lost...so I will not be able to keep it from him. Any thoughts? Thanks, Rain

My husband and I think about it this way....You only receive gifts (lots of gifts) for so long...and the rest of your life is spent shelling out gifts to others... Kids are kids...whether you buy them presents, on Christmas, or not isn't going to make them selfish or greedy... I think that comes from a longer period of time when their whims are given in to. My kids are still very little, so perhaps my thoughts are skewed...but I say spoil the crap out of them while you can...there are only a few years when you can get away with it...then their adult lives kick in and they get to become the spoilers. Ok...I'm tired..did that make any sense???? Rain

Yah-stinking-hoo!!!! I am thrilled thrilled thrilled...My husband found yet another tote of clothing I haven't seen in years and included were my goal pants that I wore 4 years ago for maybe a month and a half. They were snug then, but so cute and I loved wearing them. Well, then my dad died and I got pregnant and I never ever even remotely fit in them again... WELL!!!!! They buttoned...they are not pretty, but they buttoned. I'll be wearing these pants in no more than 1.5 months. I promise myself that! Can't wait!!!! I LOVE MY BAND! Rain

Both my husband and myself had over 150lbs to lose...we are now both at almost halfway. While not three hundred, I can totally relate to your post. I wish you much success...There is a thread for "super sized" bandsters...basically those starting with a BMI of over 50...you may want to check it out...it's on the support forum. I agree...I have no problem with teenagers getting dressed up and going out...heck, I think we make them grow up so quickly....but, at least wear a costume... And...it's not like you are going to say no for fear that they egg your car... Rain
