  1. I'm 3 weeks out also and I have an easier time drinking water when it's room temperature. Little by little I am trying to get it colder but the cold stuff still feels pretty heavy going down. This will eventually get better and we will be 'normal' except for our smaller portions (which should be normal) and not drinking with meals. Good luck and make sure to get some rest!
  2. That is not dumping syndrome. Dumping syndrome is when your food is sent to your small intestine without having been properly digested. You will feel miserable and there isn't really anything you can do but to let it pass.
  3. I believe they only wave it for BMI's over 50.
  4. Most surgical patients are on blood thinners in the hospital and then at home if the patient or familym ember has a history of blood clots.
  5. I miss root beer! lol I totally understand never feeling like something has quenched your thirst!
  6. Congrat's, that's awesome! I hope to be saying that in the nextyear!
  7. Wow, congrat's! You look amazing! I love love love before and afters (and durings too)
  8. I am 3 weeks out today and just started being able to do plain water and even now it cannot be cold (which I loved ice water before). It literally felt like lead rolling down into my belly, room temp water does go down easier though. I added protein nectar to my water and even that made it go down easier. It gets better every single day, so don't get to worried that it's going to be like this forever!
  9. Well, I think one of the other posters is right. Your husband sounds insecure, maybe he believes once you are thinner that you will leave? Sometimes you also just have to be blunt, explain your reasons for doing this surgery and explain that some of the costs don't have to be that great (thrift stores, saving on fast food etc.) and let him know that he can either be there for you and support you or not. Maybe he just needs to hear it straight out? My husband was supportive of the surgery but he does say/do things that hurt and I have gone the direct route and he doesn't always 'get it' but tries to do better. I wish you the best of luck though, I am sure that it's very difficult.
  10. I'm freezing too and I have never been the one in my house to complain about being cold! lol Yesterday I was wearing slippers fleece long sleeve pj's and a full lengtth thick fleece robe and my thermostat was set at 72 deg!
  11. It might also be that time of month? I gained a pound and then didn't lose for like 5 days the week before my period.
  12. I have been asked to participate in a study...non-paying but I really don't mind.
  13. number one is your fave chap stick...so dry in the hospital!!! I also brought a robe (I personally felt more comfortbly covered with my own), my cell phone with charger, and slippers. Might want to wear slip on shoes to the hospital too and the slip on slippers otherwise you have to ask for help (which I don't like to do). Good luck!
  14. You should be able to get the sugar free cool whip
  15. Wow, that looks good! I'm going to have to try it when I get there!
  16. My incisions were infected and look nothing like that. Definitelylooks more allergic response to me. :-)
  17. Sannah, Sorry I don't have any pic's for you as I just had surgery on the 11th but I want to wish you best of luck in your recovery and I'm sorry it's been such a rough road for you! I know not being able to take care of your child now is rough but you are doing this to be there for her later and later is what she is going to remember, not now. I have a 2 year old so I really do understand. Also, for some easy (if not outdated) before and after pics you can check obesityhelp.com. I look a lot and everytime you go to it there are different pic's right on the main page. Hope you have an ok christmas and remember next year is going to be a whole lot better! Jen
  18. I might as well...lol 1. I am addicted to looking at before and after pic's! 2. I am very afraid of losing my already thin hair! 3. I can never get in all of my water...I do try very hard to get in my Protein, but it doesn't always happen. I hope it's easier when I can eat some! 4. I weigh myself every day and I feel it's ok because I feel like it's the only bad habit I have left! lol 5. I am just now realizing how much I missed out on in the last year because I was sick so much of the year. I am also realizing how depressed it has made me and also made it harder for others to be around me. 6. I miss the happier person I used to be and hope I can get that back for me and for my family! 7. I am glad this is here because some of these things I can't say to anyone else.
  19. I can't start my 'smooths' until Christmas. :-(
  20. congrat's, that's awesome!
  21. The protein drinkd are hard...low sugar/carb/calories and high protein. I haven't found many...thankfully my docs office sells some good ones! :-)
  22. They say to keep them clean and dry...if its in a bad spot I would just put a dry gauze on it
