I've read through these post in amazement! Y'all are rock stars! I haven't been sleeved yet and I dislike exercise but was just talking to my husband last night about the need for me to start and how I'd love to be one af those endorphin junky runners. He is a track coach and I'd like to be able to do the workouts he has his high school track girls do. I don't think I have it in me though. But y'all, are seriously awesome!!

Goodnurseg reacted to SleeveGirl-TX in 19 months done, 200+ pounds down - and a whole lotta smiles up
Finally finding my way back to this forum, it's been a LONG time. I'm about 16 or so pounds from my new goal weight. Ha! 175 seemed so unobtainable that I never thought I'd actually hit that number, much less pass it and keep going. I'm still losing - in month 19, I'm at 5 pounds lost. I weigh 166 and am 5'6".
Best decision I've ever made, but it's also a LOT of hard work. There's no easy way out. I make decisions every single day and I live with the consequences of those choices. I still only eat around 800 calories a day. I can get up to 1200 if I try really hard, but I still have amazing restriction and I seem to lose best at 800, so I just keep it there. I get around 30-50 carbs per day, a LOT of Water and 70-100 Protein. I use MyFitnessPal to keep myself in check.
There's a LOT of skin. I held most of my weight for 30 years in my stomach. It's really bad. There will be eventual plastic surgery to deal with it. But I'd much rather have that than all the fat that was hanging around.
My life is so much different now. I'm a totally different person, yet completely the same. I'm able to do more and live life how I'm supposed to be living it. I have been married to the most amazing man in the world for nearly 20 years and we have two (nearly) perfect children and life is pretty darn good.
To those of you struggling, stalling, wondering if you can do it... you can. You just have to want it bad enough. And by that I mean... BAD. Stalls are normal. I lose some, stall, gain some back, stall, lose that and then a little more, stall again. My longest stall was 20 days at 3 weeks out. I routinely stall for about 2 weeks at a time nowadays. It's all good, as long as the overall trend is down.
I'll attach a photo of me at 200 lost, I've lost 8 more since then, but the difference is pretty amazing.

I have the same problem, habit. I have 63 years of slamming food down and adjusting to tiny bites doesn't happen unless I think about it. Many times I sit with a big mouthful and realize that I have to chew that thing for a looong time and let it down slowly or I'm gonna pay for it.
I am trying to force myself to sit for a while before I eat, look at my food, and plan a strategy. Engage the brain all the way through. Wait between bites. Swallow, wait, feel. Did I reach the limit yet?
Time is your friend, invite him to dinner.

You're right. One day I'm 2 pounds higher, the next back down 2 pounds, then the next 1 pound lighter, then 2 pounds higher...if you graphed it it would be zig zaggy but at a definite downward motion....

Checking back in. Surgery day weight (12/13) 367, today 345. Down 22 since surgery, down 51 overall. I had been in a stall at 347 for all of 2013 but looks like it broke overnight as I lost 2 more finally. I am eating soft foods now. Tilapia loin was delicious and all protein! Deli meats and cheeses are so good after eating liquid and purée for the last month.

I can completely relate to (5) as sometimes I think exercise is contraindicated to weight loss that is measurable on the scale ! In fact, when exercise picks up the scale almost always does not seem to do anything or even ebb up a little because we are forming muscle. The old truth remains that muscle does weigh more than fat and takes up less space than fat. One thing that can be said for you is that working out 4 times a week will result in smaller sizes and toning (the "hot factor" ), something the darn scale is not smart enough to measure. By the way, you will always have a pretty face no matter how much you weigh.

Hey, AZ senior...I'm due for my sleeve on november 7th. Thanks for writing this. This morning, I was watching the sleeve surgery videos and reading @ the pain nd decided NO way! I'm 66 and too old for this kind of invited trauma. Now you chime in just when I'm thinking negatively. Other thing thatg happened was a doc who swims at the same pool as I decided to tell me what a great thing I'm doing by coming to the pool so so frequently. So we chatted nd I told her @ the sleeve and sh encouraged me, too. Gee, we have a saying "meant to be"...I guess this was a sign that it is indeed "meant to be".
How much are you losing and are you still on Clear liquids? How is the reflux? Do u have it???

If you are considering WLS, please don't let age deter you! More and more we senior citizens are doing it. Medicare is currently investigating the possibility of approving the VSG. I predict that they will approve it in March and when they do, the floodgates will open!
I am five days post-op and feel good. Not a lot of stamina, but I just had major surgery. No complications. Off the metformin and byetta and one BP med. I imagine that I will have days when I question why I did this, but so far, so good.

Today, I was officially booted out of Lane Bryant lol. They were having the bra sale. I asked the saleswoman if she could measure me. She said wow you need to shop somewhere else , we don't carry your size.
It was a great feeling. But Victoria Secrets is too expensive ...

Are you doing some walking? How about elimination, on track? Benefiber lightens a person up when things are clogged. Of course, Water drinking too.
That is really not a bad loss. Comparing yourself to others on the forum is not always wise. Different starting weights, metabolisms, genetics, etc. many factors influence weight loss rate.
Be assured, if you keep doing the right things, the fat will come off. Our bodies have a mind of their own. They are not easily trained but are capable of being changed if you have the patience. Give yourself time.
I gained my weight over 20 years. Losing it in 1-2 years is a bargain.

It's not just good for a Protein drink it's good for non dieters as well. Seriously yummy!
