I broke my stall by saying the heck with it and not focusing on a Protein number and trying different things and reducing my calories. I lost 7 pounds last week, can't wait to see what this week brings

Actually there is and its pretty simple; eat at a caloric deficit and you will lose weight. If you are not losing it means your metabolism has taken a beating, your BMR and your RMR has lowered down probably into the low 1000 calories. Overtime you have went from eating very few calories, 500-600 1month postop, with a BMR close to 3000cal per day to around 1000cal at 5 months postop and your BMR has dropped down to around 1200cal, thus why you are not losing. Your not losing because you are eating at a very small caloric deficit each day. The above figures have you losing at 1month postop, 5lbs per week. The above figures also show losing only 1lbs every 17days, 5 months postop. Those numbers are just examples but I bet they are pretty close to whats going on with members who are not losing.
People talk about breaking stalls by eating more. It works because they eat more for a couple days. Their metabolism picks up increasing their BMR and RSR. They go back to eating as usual and lose a few pounds because of their increased metabolism/caloric deficit. Its easy to say I broke my stall because I upped my calories but its much more important to your overall success to understand why/how you broke the stall.
Members who are losing quickly are going above and beyond what your doctors minimum requirements are. They are researching and implementing techniques to lose quicker, finding out what works for them and how their body responds to certain practices . 50g of Protein might be what your DR prescribed but thats really not a lot. 64oz of Water might be whats recommended but most members losing quickly will drink 64oz of Water during their daily workout... its not really a lot of water. You DR tells you to start walking, why not hit the gym and lift weights a couple times a week... how about 15+miles of walking/jogging/running per week? Walking around your block for a half hour 3 times per week might burn 400 calories all week long. Thats roughly 1600 calories a month... not even half a pound loss. Get on an elliptical for 45mins at a steady pace for 45mins every day and thats 600+calories a day, 18000 per month and over 5lbs loss.
Tweak your diets and change it up from time to time. Challenge and push yourself in the gym. Work hard towards a decent size caloric deficit and you will lose weight. Its plain and simple. You can make every excuse in the book but if your not losing it simply means you are not eating at a caloric deficit. If you think you should be losing because of the 800 calories your eating daily, it means your metabolism is shot and you need to figure out a way to increase your BMR and RMR.

I believe you can dehydrate with a regular oven it just takes a bit longer. Google search dehydrate in oven. No extra cost :-P
This appeals to me for the lower sodium content I love Jerky but the sodium is sooo high in some...

First off, you are very courageous and brave for telling your story here. I am so sorry that you had to go through the trauma of the first surgery and feeling like a failure when it truly was not fault of your own.
Good for you for being your own health advocate, getting a second opinion as well as continuing your care and getting re-sleeved. I know that your posting here will help others.
I wish you continued success on your weight loss journey, and if you need to talk feel free to reach out!

Here are two articles that are VERY interesting!!!!
They basically share the same thing. Our intestinal flora may have had a lot to do with our obesity. When the stomach, or part of it is removed, it alters the bacteria in your gut.

Sadlers,I have to agree! I feel like as long as we do all the things we are supposed to, we really don't have a lot of control over how fast we lose. I do think we could do things to slow weight loss down by grazing, overeating, not exercising, etc, but once you do everything right, it's out of our hands. Some people will just lose slower than others, and some people will go through periods of stall or slow loss then go through periods of faster loss - for no apparent reason. Once I realized I can only do so much, I stopped feeling so pressured. I am grateful for every pound lost, and grateful for every day I am able to stay in control of my diet and exercise! And of course, I also dare to dream - can't blame a girl for that!

I went to my 3 month post op last week and I am down 47% of my excess body weight (they like to see 30% at 3 months out). Yesterday I was able to ride with my kids on the rides at the amusement park with no issues and last week I made it into ONEderland. I went from a size 26w to a 14. I'm stoaked!

Well, today my kids came back from their visitation with their dad. Heres some background info, i was 21 and stupid (sounds like a taylor swift song) and fell in love with my self centered narcissistic ex husband. He verbally and physically abused me about my weight (i was 145 lbs during my marriage, my weight at surgery was 212, gained from depression after divorce, plus binge eating disorder) Anyway, today he gets outta his car, looks me up and down and says, wow you look amazing. i said, hey arent you married. He said yeah so what, i can have you if i want you.
Lesson number 1: tigers never change their stripes.
Lesson number 2: I am still 13 lbs above the weight i was when i was married, so he never appreciated me for who i was.
My response: "Well you cant have me, I am not a homewrecker like your wife is"

I was cleared for any foods at 8 wks post op, however with the caution that as i tolerated it. So I'd say if you eat slowly and see how you feel, and you feel ok, then go for it! I'm 3.5 months out and some raw veggies, lettuce and dry meats type stuff don't always sit well.

Hi dat. I noticed that each of your posts is asking about high carb foods....oatmeal, frozen yogurt and now potatoes. Im a total carb addict and these foods are also some of my favorites. Since i know these foods are really hard for me to limit, i really have to avoid them. When we eat high carb foods, they make us want more. While we lose weight, we need to focusnon high Protein foods/drinks. Once we are further down the line we can add back some complex carbs but on a limited basis. I would encourage you to focus on why you had the surgery andnto picture the thin version of youself before you eat any of the foods youve mentioned. They are not going to help you reach goal. We all know how hard it is to break away from our old eating patterns and to develop new, healthier habits, but we just have to if we want this to work. Stick to your plan and try to find something to occupy your time so that your head is filled with thoughts other than those high carb foods. Best wishes for super success!
