Gallbladder problems
I was in the exact same situation, 70 pounds down and then BAM! didn't know what happened - went to the ER they did the ultrasound - yup gallbladder sux, needs to come out - so I don't understand the waiting because according to my band surgeon and the surgeon that took my gallbladder out it can get really bad really fast - you could have a stone slip into the liver and cause all kinds of problems - do some research online about it, find out how everything is connected - they do it laproscopically - it takes an hour - don't wait - get it out

any one in utah want to talk
re: excercise - start slow - short walks, build up gradually other than that I'll tell you what my doc told me - if it hurts don't do it - I got back on my bike after about 2 weeks and back to swimming after about 3 - your body will tell you what it can do. congratulations and good luck

Here are a couple bigger pictures
AWESOME! - good for you

Do You Agree?
2-4?!?! my doc says half that 1-2 lbs. a week is healthy - I'm in the same boat - first 75 with no fill just seemed to vanish these last 10 with a fill have been a chore - also hard to remember that I didn't get this way overnight and that it's going to be slow sometimes - most important thing is I feel tons better and it's easier to chase after the nephews
-
I...cheated.
I think you'll be okay - no need for confession - the first 1-2 weeks are hell but it gets better once you can have some soft foods - isn't that first 'actual' food delicious? - I was about that far along when I couldn't take any more either and had like half a cup of tomato soup - manna from heaven after over a week of SF jello and water

Am I the only one who is paying cash?
mamma paid cash - Dr. McKeen - 13,500 includes a year of follow-ups and fills - agree with brewa - (mom's) money well spent
-
Where is your port?
up my nose - oh - you mean my band port - left side a few inches down from the ol ribcage
-
How long can you go w/o a fill?
I was banded 4/30 and didn't get a fill for almost 5 months - my friend had his done last summer and still hasn't been filled
-
having a little doubt
agree with JJ - from what my doc told me the difference between bypass and band - bypass you lose it quicker than the band but then once it's off you have to learn portion control and excercise - band - you learn that at the beginning - in the end your at the same place but you have all the good healthy habits to go with it - he does both surgerys and left it for me to decide - slow and steady wins the race
-
Swimming -- wow!
pretty much the same as daddy-o -- I usually hit the pool every morning before work and do a mile - have a bowflex at home that I need to use a little more

Keeping my surgery secret from most of my family, has anyone else
no gas and the exact opposite of diarhea cha cha cha - TMI? sorry
-
Keeping my surgery secret from most of my family, has anyone else
re: questions 'what are you doing?' - I'm telling them pretty much the same thing - no soda, no fast food, no bread, rice - lo carbin' it - ridin' my bike, doin' my laps- all of which is true - I'm not really counting calories or anything

The use of the word "Nazi"

yes they do - wow - you've lost alot in a year - congrats- we started at about the same BMI - does it get any easier?

-
The use of the word "Nazi"
there was a documentary - can't remember if it was pre or post 9/11 - about rudy - some NY'ers calling him a nazi and making pictures of him as Hitler - anyone else see this?
-
Overly supportive husband?...
my mom paid for mine - not quite the same but I know what you mean about should be able to do it on my own and about failing - not wanting to let them down. good luck to you - you can do this!

Keeping my surgery secret from most of my family, has anyone else
I'm with you socal - I only told wife, mom and dad - I did tell a buddy about it because he had it done a year ago and he told me - so we can be a support to each other - beyond that it's nobodys business - no one at work has said jack crap to me about dropping 82 LB's - my inlaws have noticed but we haven't said anything to them - only possible leak is my dad and I swore him to serecy and death if he opened his big trap about it - I will tell my BF when/if he ever comes home from back east - for now all he knows is I've lost weight from the ticker on my blog - but that's just me - as so many here have said "I'm a private person" - if you want people to know go for it.

Being thin has it price
oh sure I totally get that - he should be your biggest supporter and cheerleader not tearing you down - part of this journey we've all started is getting the moral support - he definately has some self esteem issues and you working to better yourself doesn't help those issues unfortunately -
-
Being thin has it price
he sounds like he's very insecure about your losing weight, I think alot of people are in the same boat - my wife has a jealous streak too - maybe there are some things you can do to include him in your quest to be healthier, go for a walk or bike ride together - as for him holding your secret over your head if push comes to shove tell your secret and defuse the bomb so to speak - just a thought

Self Pay and Complications, experiences?
I was self pay on 4/30 and had my gallbladder out on 8/27 and the insurance covered it - as far as I know the percentage is slim that you'll have gallbladder trouble - still glad I had it done - the gallbladder surgery wasn't really that bad compared to being banded - not that the banding was terrible either - both went smooth is what I mean
-
For Just Us Guys
thats where I am this last 2-3 weeks - no real weight loss but inches
-
WTH?!?! McDonald's posters inside Gold's Gym
next time I go I'm taking my camera phone
-
WTH?!?! McDonald's posters inside Gold's Gym
has any one else seen this? - there was a McDonald's poster for salad next to the mens locker room entrance at the Gold's location I go to - any opinions on this?
-
what liquid vitamins do you use?
bottle of liqui-max is about 12 bucks at sam's club/costco - bottle lasts about a month
-
so disappointed!
I was banded on 4/30 and just had my first fill on 9/10 - as long as you're losing 1-2 lbs a week you're fine - it's frustrating I know, but any more than that is unhealthy.
-
Swimming -- wow!
3 weeks after having the gallbladder out and finally back to the pool, kicked on the new swiMP3 .v2, and did 72 laps - 1 mile - aaahhhh much better
