Self Pay and Complications, experiences?

So what happens if you're self pay, and perhaps go out of the country, and develop a complication?

Say an infection, or gallbladder problems? Will your insurance cover it? Anyone have any experiences with this?

I was self pay on 4/30 and had my gallbladder out on 8/27 and the insurance covered it - as far as I know the percentage is slim that you'll have gallbladder trouble - still glad I had it done - the gallbladder surgery wasn't really that bad compared to being banded - not that the banding was terrible either - both went smooth is what I mean
