Lol no Shrinky I was talking to Joy. My csection story is similar to yours though. I went to Mexico and had the sleeve done by Dr. Almanza.- WLS and C-Sections
I hope you're one of the lucky ones, lwilliam!!- WLS and C-Sections
Some people are blessed ::sigh:: lol- WLS and C-Sections
It was more painful to me. The gas pains were horrible, I had stitches which were a pain, and the drain was icky to me haha. I would do it again in a heartbeat!- WLS and C-Sections
I had 2 csections. My last one was 7 weeks before being sleeved. To me, the sleeve was worse. My csections were no problem and people were shocked that I had just had a baby. But I had no complications. I just had to care for a 7 week old when I got home.- Grrr... scale not moving.
No worries Shrinkydink! I lost NOTHING the first week. 16 pounds in 18 days is amazing! You're probably still swollen, retaining water, about to start your cycle, who knows! Your body just may be holding on to the pounds right now. You'll continue to lose!!! Patience is so hard after a drastic surgery, I know!- Venting!
- Denied, fighting depression.
My insurance covers the sleeve bit I knew if I was denied I'd fall into a horrible depression too. I went to Mexico and it was cheaper than paying with insurance anyway. I'm glad I did it that way to avoid the heartbreak.- Venting!
My skinny husband was a complete butthole before I had my surgery too. Every time I'd eat I could see him watching and judging me. He even told me I stuffed my face one time. He wasn't supportive and didn't want me to have the surgery. I made up my mind and didn't care what he thought. I probably would have left him if he gave me an ultimatum! This is my life and I have 2 boys to live for. Now he's totally excited and supportive. I think he was scared and acted like an ass rather than concerned.- Is it possible to lose all the weight with VSG? Why don't some people?
Its possible. I have a coworker who is struggling to put on a few pounds because she got too skinny. I could see how it could fail because for me personally, I can get super full and about an hour later could eat again. Now if I caved or ate calorie rich food, I'd definitely gain. I can definitely see how you could cheat the sleeve.- Boy did I mess up!
As far as a leak goes, some people are allowed crackers during the pureed stage. Your saliva begins the breakdown of carbs and I'm pretty sure it has no chance against stomach acid! I think your safe.- Talk Me Down!
I did the same thing tonight but I ate one. It made me so full but boy did it start some mean cravings!- OR story
I'm sure the embarrassment was lesson enough! I would have done the same thing you did.- What is your essential cooking tool?
I didn't read your whole post, obviously haha!- What is your essential cooking tool?
Food processor! I'm lazy and I hate chopping veggies. Plus I can make a pretty awesome hummus and creamy soups!- Scared of failure...
Well two good things: you're already aware men lose faster and with the sleeve, you can forget about out eating anyone! Be happy with your progress and for your husband's. He may get there faster but know you WILL get there. It's not a competition. He's still going to have the same struggles as you. Work together! It will probably bring you closer. What a blessing it is to have someone going through this with you!- NEW YEAR's Resolutions!
My New Year's resolution is to be more positive and appreciate life. I want to get rid of the bitter insecure fat girl permanently!- Leaks
It seems that with the amount of people just on this site the leak percentage would be more than 1%! I did read somewhere that with the gaining popularity of the sleeve, complication rates are rising. So maybe 1% is an outdated statistic?- Do anybody have really bad acid reflux since u were sleeved? If so, what r u doing to ease the acid?
Yes! But not like I did when I was pregnant, good Lord that's the worst! Anyway, I take omezeprole (sp?). It is over the counter and I believe it took about 3 days to start working but I haven't had any issue since. A prescription might be cheaper depending on your insurance but if you don't want to go down that route, just stop by your local grocery or drug store and pick some up.- what to do?
Amazon's post usually tend to be negative. I usually ignore her. No worries. I'm wondering if there's an update as well.- Almost to my goal!
Man, that's awesome! Congratulations!- stitches
My incisions opened!!! I kept them clean with wound wash and kept them dry. Do not use peroxide, it kills new cells forming and don't use any ointments or creams if they are open. It can trap in bacteria. Keep an eye on them if they get really red or ooze it could be infected. Call your doc immediately! Mine healed it took about a month and a half.- 33 BMI and scheduled for VG...
I hope I'm not giving the impression that I'm not being supportive. This surgery is serious and should be a last resort. I reread the comments and discovered the hardships the OP has had with weight. I definitely understand that! I just hope she's really thought about all this entails especially since now she is healthy. A BMI of 35 with comorbities is a candidate for surgery. Also I'm 5'9 so from my perspective, under 200 pounds would be thin to me. But I understand it's not for everyone and especially if you carry your weight in your abdominal area, it's dangerous. - WLS and C-Sections
