MiniMo got a reaction from Hattie in Hi- New To This Site- Really Depressed
I had surgery on October 1st...I am not going to lie, It has been rough! I try to get all my protein, Vitamins, and water in too, like u said, its soooo hard and it takes so much time to accomplish one task. I keep thinking to myself, " how in the heck am I going to be able to do this when I go back to work?" Its a job in itself. I want to each a whole meal so bad!! I can only get 2 to 3 bites of real food in and I am pretty much done. I get annoyed and just throw the rest of my plate in the trash. Clean plate sysndrome . Today, I realized that this is how my stomach works right now. Its permament! It is up to me to adjust. I hold myself accountable and try not repeat the mistakes I have made. My main problem is wanting everything to be perfect, but I have to remind myself that it doesnt have to be perfect ...I dont get all my protein in, ok, tommorrow is a new day, I will start again and again, getting better and better with each day. Its a process. In the past I never planned my meals or religiously took vitamins like this. We are learning our bodies all over again. As for weight loss, since surgery I have only loss 18lbs. My mother calls me everyday and ask me, "how much have you loss?" Its annoying...but, like alot of people have said STAY OFF THE scale. It will drive u crazy.

I am so glad to hear that after everything, people are stil wanting to give blood. I work for the Red Cross and I dontate regularly also. I was wondering this myself, I believe to be elgible to donate, you have to be completely healed and no problems or complications for at least 6 months. Your hemoglobin also must be at least 12.5 to donate.

I actually asked why I had to do a 6month diet and I was told ... some insurance companies want to make sure that you are dedicated and also ...the main reason.... a lot of people want to get surgery right away and if they have to wait 6months they'll either say I'm just going to do it on my own or become self.pay. I was told it doesn't matter if I lose weight. Its just an insurance requirement and that's it

    Not. Pooping.
They never told me I would poop like once every two weeks. This is a real bummer. I make some good decisions in there.

Since I was just sleeved on Monday, my thing is related to immediately post-op. I wish my surgeon had told me that he was going to use the On-Q pain medicine delivery system and that I would have to remove it myself. I got it done today, but it was extremely freaky watching this catheter come out of my body!

I was never told I would have this film I can't brush off the back of my teeth.
I went to the dentist this week and she says that, along with my bad breath,it is caused by my diet. She says she sees it a lot in people who are on Atkins diet. She says that it'll get better once I integrate more than Protein into my diet. I told her that I eat Protein first, and then hardly have room for anything else. She also said that my taste buds are affected by this too, and that's why nothing taste the same.

I lost 23lbs on my pre-op diet...As the days winded down towards my surgery, I ate less and less and stressed. I was only drinking my Protein Shakes and Water. I have a physical job and I worked about 20 hours overtime and I did alot of walking and thinking during that time, so I was pretty active. I had some broth the night before, just because my mother made me eat

    Hello!
I had my sleeve surgery October 1, 2012. I cant believe that my surgery came and went so fast. I had surgery because I was tired of feeling 10 years older than my true self, I am 27. Yes, I can say that my weight has held be back from being and becoming the person I want to be or invisioned myself as, but I have lived a good life. Starting at a young age, I always knew I was bigger than the rest of the kids. At age 9, I was 150lbs, 12 years old, pushing 200, by high school, I was over 250 and I graduated, over 300lbs. I dont blame my mother for all the delicious food she prepared over the years, I have a younger brother and sister, both are athletic and pretty normal, maybe its just genetics or my obsession with mac and cheese.
I dont want the scale to rule the rest of my life...What I want to get out of this surgery is having a healthy, fullfilling life, where my looks dont control how I feel, inside or out. My goal is to get under 200lbs for now, maybe around the 170 to 180 range. I dont know how it feels to be under that weight, So when we get there, I'll see how it feels.

Its like reuniting with a long lost love...
I have faith that things will change and I look foward to the future. I know I will desire food again, just smelling some of my favorite foods makes my mouth Water. Once I am able to eat normaly again, I am sure there will be triggers for me one day, but I have to remember that the food Iate and how much Iate got me to this weight, why would I want to do that to myself again? I want to eat healthy and enjoy my food without feeling guilt after. I am excited to try ways of cooking and eating, plus new foods that are healthier for me. I was never a slave to fast food or even processed food. Just a lot of down home cooking with lots of carbs, butter, and fat.
First, I am scared to hurt my pouch and have complications and secondly, I am tired of the liquid diet. This I think is why I have not desired much food. It all takes time...

MiniMo got a reaction from skinnywithin in Has Anyone Had To Have The 'stress Test' Before Surgery?
I have had two stress tests before... They werent too bad, but not very fun at all. The first one, the nurse was very polite and stood by my side the whole time. Also in the room was a doctor and another nurse, just in case things didnt go accordingly. I was having chestpains and shortness of breath. On the second test (for my cardiac clearance), there was tech and she was ity bity, like 5'2 98lbs, all attitude, I was like anywho....
When you take your test they first, do a echogram or like a ultrasound of your heart and attach some monitors to your chest (you will be wearing a gown, but able to keep your pants and shoes on). There is a treadmil beside the bed. Beginning at walking pace, the nurse wil continuously increase the speed and incline. The highest I got to was a 4mph. I was struggling so the nurse said I only had to do 5 min (thank god!). After you run on the treadmil, you immediately hop back on the bed for your heart to be examined exactly like before. Then your all finished. You'll get a towel and some Water, and be on your way.

I made some wonderful baked potato Soup yesterday, so easy...
Potato, low fat cheese, skim milk, flour, butter, onion, salt, pepper, garlic, green onion, precooked bacon, greek yogurt
Saute about 1/4 c of onion and 1 clove garlic in butter or olive oil, add 2t of flour
Stir in 2 c milk, will thicken
Add 1 small potato baked in microwave, chopped
    Add crumbled precooked bacon
    Blend to make smooth
Return to pot, bring to simmer, add 1/2 c low fat cheddar
I thinned mine out a little more by adding more skim milk
    Serve!
Garnish with finely chopped green onion and dollip of greek yogurt

I wanted to cheat so much on my pre op diet (i did have a smoothie from jamba juice). What scared me the most, was in my pre op meeting, the dietician said that if i strayed from my diet, there would be a chance of not having the surgery. If the surgeon went in and things did not look right, he would sew me back up and not complete my sleeve. After all of the hoops i had to jump through, appointments, and diets for six months, I was not gonna let myself ruin my chances. Its an internal fight we all have to face.
