First date is tonight!
The date was more than amazing. I didn't tell him about the surgery and I wasn't worried about the food because we talked so much. Guess I was worried for nothing. We even had another date the next day and shared a plate. I found something that I was comfortable in to wear and I looked great. Thank you guys so much for your kind words and advice!! First date is tonight!
I am having my first date after surgery today! Although I am extremely excited, I am also petrified. My confidence has risen so much since losing 48lbs since my sugery in October, 95lbs all together. I don't know if its because I like this guy alot or what, but I'm soooo nervous. We are going to a Cajun restaurant and I went online and looked at the menu, think I'm gonna have the shrimp gumbo, lol. I'm still a plus size woman, so if I just get the gumbo, he's going to think I'm trying to look skinny or something. So then this makes me ponder if I should tell him. We have only been talking for about two weeks....Also, I have been having some body image issues, I feel like my skin is sagging and my whole body is droopy, ugh. So this makes me want to cancel cause I feel like nothing looks good on my body. It's disappointing because I felt amazing during the holidays, I went out with friends, went dancing, saw old loves for revenge, lol, and though I was hot stuff. All of a sudden as the week ended, I started having these thoughts. Maybe it's butterflies or probably just a case of pond. Please give me done insight on dating after wls! What is normal?
Yes. I do shop a lot at thrift stores and I have found a lot of nice items in good shape. One time my sister and I went on 79 cents day. It was fun! Sent from my iPhone using VST

What is normal?
What is normal? How do you feel normal? I guess you could say that I am feeling a little normal...but, well, not really. I dont feel any different than before...I still feel like I am in my 350lbs body. I know I have changed, because NONE of my clothes fit, I am lighter on my feet, and people constantly tell me that I look great! but that feeling of normal is not there. I have learned that I ABSOLUTELY hate going out to eat, even though that what EVERYBODY wants to do around the holidays. Not that I hate the atmosphere and everyone looking at you because you had two bites and you are full, lol, but I HATE LEFTOVERS. There is about three boxes of leftovers in my fridge from the weekend right now. Sometimes I forget that I have had surgery, and like a normal person I order whatever sounds good. Its usually a salad, so I am being health conscious, but not surgery conscious. weird. With Christmas coming up, I have so many parties and family outings to attend, but nothing fits...I REFUSE TO BUY NEW CLOTHES, but wanting to be a normal person, I go and buy a new cocktail dress that I probably will only wear once...maybe if i leave the tag on I can return it...just kidding. lol. I just realized that I have lost almost 100lbs since January, amazing right? I am very proud of myself...so, who cares if I dont feel normal...normal isnt attainable, its just one of those things that makes you like everybody else, and who wants to be like everybody else??

Any One Else Eating Like Its Going Out Of Fashion ?
I lost 23lbs on my 2 week pre op diet. For the last few days of my pre op diet, I wasnt eating anything. Just like you, I was bored of it. I basically just drunk protien shakes and water all day. After I had surgery on Oct. 1, I did get bored of my liquid diet and now, in this stage of eating, I am also not ecstatic about it. What I am trying to do is get out of this rut, I am trying new foods, looking up new recipes, and researching all that I can.

First Day Back To Work! Whew!
That is my biggest concern also...I work for the Red Cross and I know when I go back to work next week it will be hectic. I work 8 to 24 hour shift sometimes andI do not have set hours. There are day where I have to be at work at 3am and sometimes not til 4pm. Its CRAZY! But I enjoy my job, been there since I was 22. I am a supervisor, so I cant let my team see me sitting and taking a break when they havent had one yet. I am usually the last one to take a break, sometimes thats not til the end of the day when I am doing paperwork. We work in the field and not in a office, unless you are working at the blood center. I am super afraid that I will become dehydrated, I will try to get most of my water intake in the morning, but It will be hard throughout the day. During pre op diet I would drink a protein shake, then a bottle of water when I woke up, then chug a bottle of water on the drive to work. Can't chug anymore! Sometimes,so it will be very hard to plan my meals too. I was so organized during my time off that now I am in panic mode and I have no idea of what to do next week for meals. AHHH!!!

Kid's Menu
I went out last night to Studio Movie Gril with my sister...and I wanted to order off of the kid's menu, but I was DENIED! Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm sure it has, but where can I go, where they don't care? All I wanted was some grilled chicken! I ended up just picking off of my sister's plate.

Does (Did) Your Doc Require You To Give Yourself Shots?
I had to give myself Lovenox, blood thinner, injections. During the three days I was in the hospital, the nurse made me give them to myself. Then, when I was at home, I had to give myself a shot everyday, for ten days. It bruised me up really bad, but it wasnt all that bad, didnt even hurt. Just grab some fat on your lower belly and stick . Ask your doc for a sharps container!

Not Feeling The Full Effect?
I was sleeved Oct 1 and I have been on soft foods for a week. On the first day, the first thing I ate was some scrambled eggs. I took two bites and was immediately turned off. I didnt know what was going on, but now as I begin to eat more foods, I have learned that this feeling is a feeling of fullness. It wasnt until today that I actually felt that feeling of fullness. Like I just had a full meal. I had one salmon croquett, approx 2oz. and a quater cup of canned pineapple. Its going to take time for the swelling to go down and for your stomach to be able to handle the 3 to 4 oz of food later on... The sounds coming from your stomach is mostly air, making you gurgle...think of a garbage disposal. It takes a while for food to go down, you have to turn it on in order to work...

Dating .. Are U Ready To Be Back In The Game?
It kinda makes me nervous too...I broke up with someone about a month before surgery...He said he was scared and didnt want to lose me, not because of the surgery, but because I was/will lost/loose alot of weight (I lost 41lbs pre-op)...Ugh. No signs of getting back together...My mother, being super supportive, said that there is a different type of man out there from the ones that I have dated in the past. I always felt that I had to have something extra to hide my weight. We will be in a totally different game...I do feel that eventually I will be too bothered to go on a date, because I'll too many offers of course, lol but really its alot for someone to take in and I really just want to concentrate on myself for a while til I am comfortable with my body.

Hi- New To This Site- Really Depressed
I had surgery on October 1st...I am not going to lie, It has been rough! I try to get all my protein, vitamins, and water in too, like u said, its soooo hard and it takes so much time to accomplish one task. I keep thinking to myself, " how in the heck am I going to be able to do this when I go back to work?" Its a job in itself. I want to each a whole meal so bad!! I can only get 2 to 3 bites of real food in and I am pretty much done. I get annoyed and just throw the rest of my plate in the trash. Clean plate sysndrome . Today, I realized that this is how my stomach works right now. Its permament! It is up to me to adjust. I hold myself accountable and try not repeat the mistakes I have made. My main problem is wanting everything to be perfect, but I have to remind myself that it doesnt have to be perfect ...I dont get all my protein in, ok, tommorrow is a new day, I will start again and again, getting better and better with each day. Its a process. In the past I never planned my meals or religiously took vitamins like this. We are learning our bodies all over again. As for weight loss, since surgery I have only loss 18lbs. My mother calls me everyday and ask me, "how much have you loss?" Its annoying...but, like alot of people have said STAY OFF THE scale. It will drive u crazy. Please join in the conversations and get all the information you need from this forum and several other oppurtunites out there. There are weightloss support groups, counseling services, and I personally love youtube, made a few vlogs myself to just tell my story. Make your experience your own!
