  8. Hi Wetliner, I had my surgery at NEMC on Feb 28. I have lost 44 lbs in total, 14 pre surgery and 30 lbs post surgery. When you have your 1st appt they just go over why you want surgery, weigh you and talk. They have a great program!! Patty

  13. My boyfriend has been very supportive, he has even come to support meetings with me. I was planning on a gastric bypass a couple of years ago, he was totally against that. At the time I was going to have surgery there was a lot of bad press about the bypass. Patty
  14. My insurance paid for my band. I did have to pay a $400 out of pocket surgery co-payment and $400 program fee. Plus my $15 copayments for Dr visits. Patty

  17. Deb, My thoughts will be with you!!! Patty
  18. Jenna, I dont think they would turn you away for a fill going all the way to Mexico. I only have to drive 15 miles. CaramelDiva and Jack, so you both know where I am coming from, but in the back of my mind I keep thinking I am doing this well without a fill, would I be doing even better with a fill??? Jamie, thanks for the encouragement!! I really love this site!! Patty
  19. La Madam, Thanks for the link, I saved it to my favorites!! Iluvharleys, Thanks for the encouragement. Daisydoodle, Bandsister, how are you!!! Congratulaitons on you 18 lbs gone. You must feel great. I was so ready to face the needle. I'm sure Dr knows best, so I will wait for next month!! Patty
  20. I went for my 6 week post op visit today. I was going to get a fill, but since I have done well post surgery, my Dr suggested waiting until next month. I've lost 20 lbs post op (15 pre op), so down 35 lbs since January. So thats about 10 lbs a month. I was bummed out at first cause I had really braced myself for the fill, but I guess I can hang on another month. (he's afraid that I'll have too much restriction and need to have an unfill). I guess we'll see what next month brings!! Now on to regular food!! Patty
  21. Welcome to the "other" side!! Patty

  25. My daughter is 11 and overweight. I started her on a weight loss program a couple of weeks before I had my surgery. She meets monthly with a nutritionist, medical dr and a shrink. She lost 7 lbs the 1st month. She really didnt do any strict dieting, we stopped going to dunkin donuts everyday. The Drs at her program were concerned that she lost too much weight. They really dont want her "dieting" just making healthy choices. Since we are both dieting at the same time, its much easier. We dont have any junk food at home, (now that I threw out the rest of the Easter candy). If she is still obese at 18-20 I would definately bring her in to get banded. I have spent my whole life overweight, and I would hate for her be overweight her whole life too. My older daughter's (21) is overweight too. Her weight goes up and down. She once lost 25 lbs by giving up soda and McDonalds. She doenst have any health ins. When she gets a full time job with ins, she may get banded. I will support her 100%. Patty
