  1. Good luck today. Dont worry, I dont know where you are going, but they will probably ask lots of questions, maybe take blood.... Sending happy appt vibes your way. Patty
  2. Thanks for the info, I will make sure they are not too tight!!! Patty
  3. I am scheduled for my Lap-band on Monday. Guess what I just got, yep, my period. Timing is everything!!! Has anyone else had this during surgery? They'll still do the surgery, wont they? Thanks, Patty
  4. I cant wait until this winter is over. Hopefull, I guy I work with had gastric bypass at UMASS in Sept, he is doing great. Congratulations on your pre-surgery weight loss!!! I've lost 15 lbs too. Its hard not eating everything in sight knowing that surgery is next week. Patty
  5. Nicole, We are one day closer . This is really exciting. A man from my behavior mod group had his surgery yesterday. He hasnt posted anything yet. I am anxiously awaiting any news from him. I still havent told my dad, brothers or sister. One of my brothers is the trustee for my kids, (actually I havent changed anything in a few years, my older daughter is now 20). I think I will call him over the weekend and let him know that I am doing this. I dont want my father a nervous wreck. He was so relieved when I canceled gastric bypass surgery.... I picked up a pitcher and sippy bottle this am at Wal-Mart. I have about 10 pitchers at home but none of them have covers. That will be for my Crystal Light. I think I have 5 flavors to choose from. Are you getting edgy? I am a little. Patty
  6. I have kept my post op foods hidden from the kids, they better not touch my sugar free jello!!! Patty
  7. Nicole, Only 6 more days!!! I am so excited. I went out and picked up some fat free cream Soups yesterday. I think I have everything in place!! Patty
  8. Nicole, We can be surgery buddies!!! What time is your surgery? I have to be there at 6:30 am. I probably wont sleep well the night before. Patty
  9. Thank you!! Your date will be here before you know it!!! Patty
  10. Well here I am, one week before surgery. I am getting my lap band at New England Medical Center in Boston. They have a great program, which I am happy to say is covered by my insurance (Harvard Pilgrim). They have a 6 week behavior modification program, you meet with a psychologist twice, nutritionist twice and they have a monthly post op program. So believe me when I tell you I am ready. I am so excited!!! I wish it were tomorrow. My doctor doesnt have us fast pre-surgery. But I am really carefull about what I eat. I didnt lost 10% of my weight, but I have lost some. What has everybody done to make the last week go by faster. I do work 2 jobs so that part will go by fast!! Just thought I would check in. Patty
  11. Krissie, For me the hardest part of any diet is keeping the weight off. I believe that with the lap band I will have a tool that will help me. I have always been able to lose weight. Keeping it off is my problem. The fact that the band is adjustable and removable is what sold me on it. I am sure there will be foods that I wont be able to eat after I get banded. But there isnt any food that I cant live without. I dont think that will be a problem for me. Good luck in your decision. Patty
  12. Well it looks like my surgery will be on 2-28. I am so excited!!! I need to go in next Friday for EKG, Upper GI and chest x-ray. How did your meeting go Krissie? Capecodder, I am glad everything is going well. Patty
  13. Krissie, I am from the so shore, too. Weymouth. I had my 1st appt in Nov and my surgery is scheduled for Feb 28th. I will be there tomorrow, too. I am meeting with the internest at 8 am. Good luck. Patty
  14. Who did your surgery? I am scheduled for Feb 28 with Dr. Tarnoff. Patty
  15. Well, I had my first appt Tuesday at the OCC in Boston. Reading all of your post regarding surgery related travel I realize how lucky I am that my surgery will be only 15 miles from home!! The 1st appointment was with the clinical Psychologist and it went well. She found me "sane" enough for surgery. (I think) I have to go to lots of meeting before the actual surgery gets done: New Patient Orientation Lap Band Support Group Open Conversation with the Surgeon Physical Activity for Life Education Lecture Series (3 lectures) 6-Session Behavior Change Group (once a week). I will be so busy with all of this, I wont have time to eat, which is a good thing, they would like me to lose 10% of my weight before surgery. (27 lbs) Patty
  16. HI Christina, I am in Mass too. I am scheduled for my 1st appointment next Tuesday at the OCC at New England Medical Center. I just called my PCP's office and told them I needed a referral to the OCC. They didnt ask any questions and I dont even have to go in to see him. I just have to remember to pick up the referral form. Good Luck!!! Patty
  17. Any one here from Boston???? I will have my 1st appt on Nov 23 for my consultation at New England Medical Center's OCC. Patty
  18. Thanks for all of your welcomes!!!! You have made me feel very "welcome". I cant wait to catch up on all of your posts!! Patty Betty-I love harleys too, but I havent been on one on years....Cant wait to get back on one after I lose some of this weight.
  19. Hi, I just found this site....I have my 1st consultation with the Obesity Consult Clinic (OCC) at New England Medical Center in 2 weeks. I hope to get "banded". I was scheduled for a gastic bypass September 2003, but the week before my surgery they read my EKG (dont know why they waited 9 months to read the report) and I have mitral valve prolapse. One of my best friends had her bypass the week after mine was scheduled and she wound up dying the week after, so I was pretty scared off from any surgery!!! My cardiologist recommend lap-band surgery, so here I am!!! I would like to lose 125 lbs. Patty
