I bought one. Waiting for it to arrive. I included my Dr's number as well as no blind NG tube. I ordered from Lauren's Hope. They are a little pricey but it was important to me that mine look like jewelry and be discreet vs. shouting special medical condition.- Daily meds!
Not sure how big your pill is but my Dr. said pills up to the size of an M&M were ok. I take my PPI capsule whole every day since coming home from the hospital without problem.- Before
Before, a weight loss surgery photo album by erp on BariatricPal. 1 photo in Member Photo Gallery.- HAVING MY SURGERY ON MARCH 19TH. I JUST HAD A QUESTION ...WHY DO PEOPLE GET DEHYDRATED AFTER SURGERY CAN THEY NOT DRINK FLUIDS? AREN'T THEY THIRSTY?
For most, there are several compounding factors right after surgery. Everyone is swollen and it can hurt to swallow. Also, that swelling can also mean it is hard to have liquid in your new tummy. Some experience nausea from the drugs as well as from anything they drink. For example, before I was sleeved, I never gave a thought to how much I drank or when. I drank when thirsty. Right after being sleeved, I experienced thirst but couldn't drink more than one ounce at a time. Hardly enough to quench thirst or stay hydrated. Now I can drink more that an ounce at a time, however to stay hydrated and assist with weight loss, I have to drink 64 oz a day. I have to schedule and track my water otherwise, I fall behind as I cannot chug a bottle of water like before surgery. Plus I'm supposed to eat 5 or 6 times a day but I'm not supposed to drink 30 min before eating or a hour after. You have to keep up with hydration and if you get busy, forget to drink, catching up can be really diffucult.- HELP! NEED MORE CALORIES IN MY DIET
Your stats look great. Don't mess with a good thing?- constipation 5 mths out
Also for protein and fiber I heard Quest bars are good.- constipation 5 mths out
My doctor's office wasn't too worried if I wasn't regular if I wasn't feeling like I needed to go. So I take a stool softener (Dulcolax) so that I don't strain when it is finally time to go. Otherwise if I need to go but can't they recommend a starting with a half dose of milk of magnesia or a glycerin suppository if you feel "stuck." Sorry to be gross. Good luck, we all feel your pain, literally!- Alternative to Protein Shake?
I had the exact same problem right after surgery (2/20). If I watered down the Premier it seemed to help but I still felt like I was choking it down. I had to switch to Unjury, it mixes easily with only 8 oz of water so the consistency is nice and thin. You can order a sample pack online to give it a try. Also they have a chicken soup flavor that's not bad and a much needed break from vanilla and chocolate!- What to tell work people
I went with hiatal hernia. I was diagnosed with one during my EGD but more importantly, hernia repair includes soft foods right after surgery as part of the recovery.- Starting purees Monday! Two questions.
I just started purees. My biggest challenge by far has been eating slow enough. I started with pureed refried beans and they are ok if I eat them slow. Adding sour cream for extra "lube" helps too. I tried to get fancy by adding a little cheese and my sleeve did not like that, so I'll wait a few days before trying that again. Today I thinned out some mashed potatoes and so far that, apple sauce, and greek yogurt go down the easiest. Start with small portions, stop if it hurts. So far I eat about 1/4 cup of beans or potatoes. Enjoy!- Day4... Dehydration?
Experiment with the temperature, consistency, and flavor. I get slightly flavored room temp water down the best. I am a week out and just now getting most of my water in.- Question about dress sizes from a newbie
Remember that bridal sizes run smaller.- Seeking Some Advice - Dr Aceves
There is an entire section on VSG in Mexico as well as do a search "Dr. Aceves" and you can read many people's experiences.- February Sleevers
Welcome to the other side. Wishing you a speedy recovery.- FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
Word! I have already had my first episode on Monday. Oh my! Started Dulcolax today.- Why is protein so important NOW? Can anyone explain?
Nut= nutritionist- Chicken broth made me almost puke
I like it. I read a tip to mix it first before heating and I nuked my mug with hot Water first so it would be hot when I poured it in. It's not something I want to drink everyday but it's passable.- Complications and after care?
I understand feeling discouraged by your doctor's email. However he does bring up an important point, will your insurance cover you should you have an unauthorized procedure? I would worry less about who provides your aftercare and more about if your care would be covered. While no one wants a complication, you do have to be prepared. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.- Hellllpppppp... I have a date Saturday!
WLS is not first date material. I agree with and activity date. I love mini golf, it's fun and not too strenuous. If you combine that with a light bite to eat I think you'll get by. Personally, I think drinking on a first date is a slippery slope anyway even before surgery. I've seen people get trashed on dates and there is definately no second date after that! Since you probably don't know him that well, stay sober and in control, stick with water with lemon or lime. Most importantly, have fun!- Never thought I would be grateful for
Here are all the weird things I never knew I would be grateful for 1 week out: Refried beans! OMG! I advanced myself two days early I just couldn't take liquids any longer! Pooping! I definately took that for granted before surgery. I can't have chia seeds yet so I'm trying Ducolax. Naps! Normally I am not a napper but laying down and getting proper rest is really helping. That incentive spirometer! Coughing hurts but being out of breath is worse. I'm using that thing every day! How about you? What little things are you grateful for?- Chicken broth made me almost puke
I completely relate. I bought some Pacific organic, low sodium broth and it was terrible. Smelled god awful. Trying Unjury chicken flavor later today, hoping that is better.- FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
