OMG.... I can hardly keep my eyes open. Haven't had any meds in about 6 hours. Not as bad as I expected. I woke up! That was my biggest fear... dying. The worst part is the dry mouth! I've never experienced it this bad. Makes me sip good though. I need to go potty but I'm scared to move that much. My nurses have been great! So glad it's over. Guess I'm gonna attempt to go pee... ugh

Around twelve hours left for me. It's really strange.. I was so nervous a week ago. Now I'm just ready. Today I cooked my husband and son enough food to get them through the week. All the greats... Cheesy chicken Spaghetti, Chicken Enchiladas, Some hamburger meat for Hamburger Helper. Things we really never eat... and ya know what? I didn't even want a bite. It'll probably hit me in the morning and I'll be a nervous wreck but right now... I'm ok. Best of luck tomorrow.. Let's change our lives!

I'm finishing packing for the trip to Saskatoon. I'm driving out at 2:30am to be there in plenty of time before we board. I can't believe how the time has flown! I'm on for Monday as well in Tijuana MX and it still doesn't feel real yet. Fortunately I'm not alone. Leprechaunmomma is heading out at the same time and we'll meet up. Strange that this is how I make my first trip to Mexico. I thought it would be an all inclusive resort type stay.....well it is sort of now that I think of it, just a different view and no majitos. The pre-op diet has not been bad and the three day Clear Liquids went fine. I'm not hungry yet. Wish us well sleeve sisters, we'll see you on the flip side.

Ten hours to go. Funny how nervous I've been. Now that it's time I feel so excited. I start a new life tomorrow. Bring it on!!!!

You CAN do this!!!! Nothing tastes good enough to have your surgery cancelled!!!! It IS painful and hard to do the pre op liquids, because you still have a full sized stomach. I PROMISE you it will be so much easier once surgery is done. Just push through it. Keep yourself busy. Suck on some sugar free candies. Have sex a lot. Whatever you have to do to not eat. It would be better for you to have an extra Protein Shake than eat what you're not supposed to eat. If your liver is not out of the way, you run the risk of either a cancelled surgery, or an open incision. You can do this!!!

Well, I've had 2 EGDs, one with only Versed, and it was horribly uncomfortable, not to mention I felt disoriented for several hours later. The other, with propofol administered by a CRNA and it was the "perfect anesthesia". Due to it's short acting properties, I woke up fully alert within minutes of going into the procedure. My total anesthesia cost after insurance paid: $38 bucks. In my opinion, well worth it.

Hey all!
I will admit I haven't been the best about reading the posts in here since it got so huge! I just thought I'd give an update since my surgery was yesterday.
I seem to be one of the people with lots of nausea (boo!) I threw up blood most of the night. I am a revision surgery so I'm sure there's more trauma with them removing scar tissue, etc...
I am feeling better this morning, it's amazing, the pain is just about the same as it was getting my band placed! It's just the nausea that's killing me! Luckily the anti-nausea meds helped me sleep.
The best thing I did was bring two of our down comforters from home in space bags for my husband and I. I didn't do this last time and the sheets were too thin here. I've been sleeping lots better with my cozy banket.

I'm so ready!

Hey everyone, I'm still in the hospital. I'm three days post op and they are trying to get my blood (ptt) on a therapeutic level before releasing me. The nausea, headaches and other ailments have subsided. I still have a few gas pains the come on hard and then disappear within seconds. I've been upset because I knew I was going to have to stay hospitalized for two nights, but didn't count on four or five nights. It's been a struggle to arrange for childcare because my wonderful husband will not leave my side. So tomorrow is my daughter's sixth birthday and I've been stressing that I am not going to see her or be able to do anything for her. When I talked to her on the phone this afternoon she told me she wanted a piñata to take to school tomorrow for her birthday. I of course told her no way, maybe another day I would make it up to her. My surgeon comes in tonight and I'm begging him to let me go home and tried the sympathy route about my daughter wanting a piñata. He didn't budge, said I may be here one more or two more nights. I want you to know that 2 hours later that man walked back into my room carrying a horse shaped piñata and candy to fill it! He thinks he may release me in the morning so I will be able to surprise my daughter! How's that for a surgeon?

Lol.. I will.. I start.mine on Sunday si I guess my cat will look tasty after my third day... Poor thing.. lol

I want to wear khakis with my shirt tucked in. I find these to be the least forgiving pants on earth, I have tried on million pair and always look terrible!
I can't wait to wear a skirt and not get rash on my upper thigh from the friction. Ouch!
Mostly, I can't wait to not be constantly thinking about food. What am I eating next? Where can we eat out this weekend? Friends coming from out of town? Where will we be eating. God, I am sick of being ruled by food!

Yes everything went well doc said everything looks good and ready to go! Yay!

I'm done! Didn't even know it happened. I woke up thinking i had dropped my bite block... lol, i was in recovery. The propofol burned. I tried to count in my head but cannot remember what number i got to... probably not even 5. My throat is not sore at all. I'm a little wobbly. He said i had mild reflux but should be fine with two weeks of prescription Prilosec. Surgery still on for 27th!

Mine is tomorrow at 7am. I'm a nurse and have circulated on many EGDs so I was freaked too. But the hospital I worked at didn't give you the good stuff until after you swallowed the scope! The surgery center assured me I would be asleep before that point though.

I saw the recipe and I decided to do it. It very good and it taste like lasagna.
Shelly's Baked Ricotta
8 oz of Ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 large Egg, beaten
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
salt & pepper to taste
1/2 cup Marinara Sauce
1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. I usually made it first in the oven and heated the leftovers in the microwave

I am just starting my two week diet.. surgery on 27th. I'm only required low fat one week, then full liquid one week. I went to Walmart today to buy supplies for the next three weeks. Then came home and threw everything in the fridge away. Tomorrow I will finish by doing the pantry. I cooked my "last meal" of fried deer meat and a sprite strawberry cake. Right now I'm actually ready to start my diet.. just cause I'm ready to get this started. It helps that my husband wants to do the diet with me. Kinda nervous about the all liquid week but too scared to even think about cheating! Glad I have the forums to help when it gets tough. Hang in there, we're gonna do great!
