Pics of my Barium Swallow
Kelly that is the most awesome picture, I forwarded a copy to my mother who was banded Thursday. How do you eat anything? OMG, it looks like food would never get through there. I got a fill Wednesday, and I'll probably have to eat soup for the next year, LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Another surgery???
Just checking on you today Val, please let us know how you're doing.

Magic Bullet
The clean up and the tiny space it takes on the counter. I keep mine next to the coffee pot in the appliance cabinet, it takes up about a 4x4 inch area and there are no buttons to clean or wipe off, actually the base doesn't require cleaning unless you don't get the top screwed on good. Personally, the more basic and the smaller it is, (I try to avoid clutter), the better I like it. BUT!!! if you have a blender and prefer to use it, I love the idea of the Mason jar, what a smart idea.

Freaking out
I don't want to encourage you to do anything other than what your doctor prescribed, my bmi was barely 40, I only had to do liquids the day before. My mom who had surgery Thursday was considerably higher, and she had to do liquids the day before, but no one told her and so she had breakfast and they still did they surgery. If you're gonna cheat, do it with soft mushy stuff, but when you get closer don't cheat at all.

I need help with the Diet History
If you ever tried Weight Watchers, they usually keep the card where you attended last, unless it was many many years ago, you may still have your old one. That would be a document. How about diet pills, did you ever use prescribed diet pills? If so the doctor would have a record of prescribing them. After my surgery, I bet I threw away 10 kinds of over the counter diet products. Make a list of those that you've used. Hope this helps.

Another surgery???
So what do they think is causing the problem? Is there infection or was the band placed incorrectly, get us some answers, we all want to know. I feel so bad for you having to go through this. I wish you the best, and please stay in touch.

Magic Bullet
Basically, there's the regular one, without the blender and juicer regular price is around $69.00, but on sale at Wal-Mart and Walgreens sometimes for $59.99. The larger one with the pitcher and juicer is usually $99.00. Hope this helps.

Trouble keeping things down
You're about at that stage where you're saying to yourself, OMG, what have I done. We all go through that stage, but it does pass and every day gets easier from here. Keep up the good work and remember a day at a time.

I'm Back From Mexico, Need Words Of Encouragement
Hang in there Jean it will pass. Take a day at a time. Just remember you're not going through or experiencing anything the rest of us haven't. Each day gets better and so does the excitement of getting to the mushy stage. Awwwww french onion soup and mashed taters, my first musy foods, then on to Taco Bell for refried Beans and cheese. If you can't do a day at a time, do an hour at a time and try to stay busy, even if it's surfing the net. Good luck. PS, My mom gets banded tomorrow and she can be your band pal...Ms Molly

Suggestion for New Forum
IMO, I like the personal touch when a newbie asks a question and is given a direct answer, even though a short version, rather than just telling them to go use the search button. I think there is a wealth of information to be discovered if someone has the time to read through every search response. When I started on this board the replys with answers and opinions to my particular question or situation meant so much more than when someone suggested I search past responses. And, we're all different, and what may have been a solution for a past issue, a newer bander may have a new way of handling liquids or mushy or what ever the topic. As to whether there's another forum or not is immaterial to me, but I think it's more important that we, as a support group respond to everyone and not brush them off with instructing them to do a search...JMO.

My worst fears have come true about him...
I must have missed the post about his job. You're a much stronger woman than me if you can just walk away, it would haunt me not to have the last word(s).

Band Erosion/Having it removed after only one year
How long after banding does this usually happen if it's gonna happen? Is there a time that passes and then you're considered over the hump so to speak or could it happen at any time?

Only 4 days togo before the big day!!!!!!
I'm so happy for you, I wish you the best.

Pre-op Tomorrow
Neat little info site there Katie. Looks like you're way ahead of the band, don't know why you're so nervous, you're a sure thing and you'll do just fine. I wish you the best. My mom will be right ahead of you on the 7th.

Your "last" meal...
Well said again Jonathan. It's obvious you're enjoying your band.

Just banded and miserable
I forgot to mention I was sick on my stomach too, very nauseous, my doctor changed the pain med and it took care of the sickness. Good luck.
-
Just banded and miserable
Are you still on pain meds? Often it's the pain meds that make people sick. Either have the meds changed or quit taking them if you can. Hope you're better real soon and off to a good journey.

It's Not A Magic Band
Straight from the heart Jonathan, well said. Good luck!

scar
Mine are still purple, but they're fading more and more each day. I agree, they're more like puncture wounds than scars. Oh boy, pictures, I love when everyone shares pictures.
