  1. LOL. I have food related stress also but really need to step up my exercise. I've been fooling around with these two pounds for weeks now and need to see some lower numbers asap or I WILL go crazy.
  2. Looking for friends or groups to join to stay motivated. I haven't figured it all out yet since I won't have my fitbit until next week. My name over there is Roberta and I posted a topic under Big Losers in the community section of the forum. Feel free to send me friend requests. Thanks!
  3. I'm 5 weeks out and living on seafood. Shrimp every single day. I also eat crab legs, imitation crab meat, all kinds of fish, and today I had a crab cake. It all goes down and stays down super easy. All I like now is seafood and super spicy foods. Weird taste changes.
  4. Ummmmm, if you read the title of this thread, you will see I only want a day off not a complete reversal of surgery. I did this for MYSELF - nobody else even wanted me to do it. I was as prepared as anyone, even losing 50 lbs pre-op. As you will eventually see, no amount of preparation will spare you the emotions that come with this change. It may not seem like much of a challenge to sip fluids all day, but believe me, it gets annoying. I'm always on the verge of being dehydrated and would love to be able drink more at a time - Water, not sodas or anything. Of course I'm not gorging on food! It's not even physically possible. I can't even eat a whole egg. This was a thread about emotions and feelings, not things I am actually going to do. Much of my anger comes from not wanting to waste. At home, not being able to eat/drink much is not so much of a problem. Being on the go a lot, I have to buy food and drinks out and portions my size are just not available. I hate having to throw so much away every single day.
  5. I will be only 5 weeks out on Tuesday but I have to reply to this thread. You should think long and hard about yourself before putting off your surgery. It's a long process to get to the point where you have a surgery date and you will just end up having to start all over again. I eat meals with my family every single day. I can only eat about 1/4 cup of food but the only one who notices is me. Just put less on your plate. Even this early out, the only things I can't eat are bread and raw vegetables. Nobody notices me skipping those. The whole point of this surgery is to make you eat less. I question that your family wouldn't want that for you. Why would they care how much you eat as long as you are there with them? Good luck with your decision.
  6. I was sleeved on 4/3 and just today broke a 9 day stall. Not only did I not lose anything in those days, my body had the nerve to gain 2 pounds!!! I eat 700-800 calories a day, also mostly Protein. Today, I not only lost the 2 pounds I gained during the last 10 days, but also 2 more. I hope this means the stall is over for good.
  7. ^^^^^ THIS is why I'm glad to have found this forum. I feel much less insane. A couple of years ago, when my PCP pointed out that I was a food addict, I got mad. Now, I realize it was true. I know that without this surgery, I would still be out of control and I clearly don't have the ability to change that on my own. This is a much harder, more emotional, journey than I had anticipated, but I am still thankful my sleeve is there to intervene on my behalf. I am looking forward to the day when all this becomes normal for me. Thanks to all who replied.
  8. I am sick of not being able to eat enough to keep a two year old alive! I want to be able to gulp down beverages in record time like I used to. I want to eat a whole anything. I just want a day off from this. If I was losing weight, I may have a better attitude. As it is, I am 4.5 weeks out and haven't lost in 9 days. I don't even understand how it's possible to maintain my weight on 700-800 calories a day max. I have wasted more food and money since this surgery than I ever have in my life. Even though I know I can't eat much, my brain is forever optimistic and thinks this one time I can because it looks so good. No matter what I buy to eat or drink, it never works out. I take a couple of bites or drinks and it's over. I'm starting to feel mentally incompetent for making the same mistake a hundred times over. Why can't I wrap my brain around the fact that I can't eat like I used to? Do other people have this problem? Even though I wanted this surgery, and still do really, I am actually getting ANGRY that I can't eat something after I buy it. I want to just throw the food and cuss a blue streak. I chose this, so am confused at my own anger.
  9. They covered all the nutritionist visits for me so far, but last time I was there I was told they are no longer going to be covering it. I have to pay $40 per visit going forward.
  10. I've heard this point of view before and just wanted to respond to it. As an obese person, I would NEVER overeat at a buffet. I was semi-embarrassed to eat at one to begin with, feeling that everyone was judging what I was eating. I always ate less than everyone else and I'm sure there are others that feel the same. That being said, I doubt I will ever use my discount card either. I would be mortified to discuss my surgery with a cashier/stranger. I am keeping my card in case I ever feel differently, but I don't see it happening as of now.
  11. I believe OH stands for Obesity Help. I have heard of that website. The subject of my card just came up tonight. My family wanted to go to the buffet so I thought about using it to get kids price or a take home box, but I was too embarrassed. In my case, my surgeon gave me the card at my pre-op appointment when I was already on the liquid diet. It was pre-printed with my name on it.
  12. Maybe my Medicaid paid for it. I honestly don't know for sure since I always present both. Have you checked into your Medicaid coverage? Usually Medicare pays for much more so I assumed they paid for the bulk of it, but maybe not?
  13. For those that are on solid food, why not just eat protein bars? I wouldn't be choking down nasty, chalky, smelly protein drinks if I could just eat something akin to a candy bar with the same results.
  14. Hello and welcome! I think everyone here can relate to losing over and over again only to regain. WLS is the only proven long term solution to that. In that respect, it is necessary surgery. I'm only a month out, but absolutely no regrets. I feel like I should have made this decision for myself years ago. I went into surgery expecting a bypass and came out with my surprise sleeve. My surgeon had told me that due to my high BMI, it may be a possibility and I had agreed to it. After coming home with the sleeve, I finally did some research on it and was very thankful things turned out this way. I won't be going back in a year for the bypass as I originally thought I would.
  15. Yes, that is exactly what I have. You shouldn't have to pay for anything. Mine covered everything. Maybe they are not trying to charge Medicaid, only Medicare? I would try another place and point out that you have Medicaid also. Edited to add: I did have to find my own psychologist that took Medicaid. If I had used the one my surgeon generally works with, I would have had to pay out of pocket. I just found one that accepted Medicaid and got them to do my evaluation and send my surgeon the report.
  16. I have Medicare & Medicaid and just had the sleeve on 4/3. My Medicaid picks up for all the things not covered by Medicare so I'm not sure which one actually paid for it. I do know that my surgery never costed me a dime. I didn't even have co-pays for appointments. In my case, at least, it was in their best interest to cover it. For years I have been taking over $3,000 a month in prescription drugs. I'm down to taking only 3 now that total less than $300 a month.
  17. My surgeon's rules say we can have small sips with food. I have tried to drink more while eating, but it never works out so well. It makes me feel painfully full and feel like I have to burp.
  18. She may have some kind of complication making things worse. Everyone I have read that was in severe pain, there was something else going on. If that's not the case, there are always people who like to whine for attention and sympathy. My husband is still whining about pain from a car accident 21 years ago. I never had any real pain past the day I came home from the hospital. It could also be that she just has a low tolerance. You usually see this in women that have had no children yet. She may be spending to much time dwelling on it and perceiving every little feeling as pain.
  19. Cottage cheese, imitation crab meat, tuna, and cheese as a stand alone. For Breakfast or lunch everyday I have just cheese. Prior to surgery, cheese was a condiment of sorts. Now it's the main course. Pre-op, I never even tasted cottage cheese or fake crab.
  20. I've been wanting spicy food since surgery also. A couple of times I've had hot wings. I don't eat the skin and just dip small chunks of meat into the the hot sauce and then ranch. So yummy and high protein too!
  21. I threw out some of my clothes that are older and I've had for years. For some of the newer, nicer things I have I am planning to use my sewing machine to take them in some. I have quite a few things waiting on me to do it since right now I only have a couple of things I can wear. My dad said he would buy me all the new clothes I need on the way down, but I feel bad taking him up on it just yet. When I get to over 100 lbs lost, I may let him buy me a few new things.
  22. I started real food at Day 6. I only at a max of 1 tbsp at a time at that point to avoid stress on my sleeve. My paperwork said not to eat more than 3 or 4 tbsp but I played it safe since I was starting food early. When I was two weeks out, I moved up to 2 tbsp max, which is what I eat now. At my post-op appointment on Monday, I told my surgeon I have moved to soft foods due to inability to drink Protein without vomiting. He was okay with it as long as I kept to small amounts, chewed well, and counted my protein grams to ensure I was getting enough.
  23. I can't do the protein drinks either. I am 3 weeks out and getting all my protein through food now. I eat cottage cheese, fish, tuna, eggs, cheese, and other soft proteins. I track my food on myfitnesspal to make sure I make my protein goal each day.
  24. Well, apparently I'm the problem patient. I'm 3 weeks out and have bites of all three. I had the toppings off a small piece of pizza, ate popcorn one night on Ambien, and ate one tiny brownie when my husband baked some. I'm steady losing weight, 72 lbs since February of this year. I just log my foods at myfitnesspal and make sure to get my Protein in. If I start making certain foods off limits completely, I will go insane. My sleeve only holds about a tablespoon of solid food so not a big deal to me at this point. According to my surgeon's diet, I am still supposed to be on pureed. He let me move forward due to my inability to drink Protein drinks post-op. I chew very well and the only things I cannot eat yet are bread and raw vegetables.
  25. I just messaged a friend about this exact thing this morning. I have never been so focused on my diet in my life. It is an all day, every day, struggle to get in everything that is needed. Even without complications, I feel overwhelmed most of the time. It's just not possible be the 100% compliant patient that I thought I would be. My sleeve only holds so much at a time. It's stressful when I finish every single lacking in some way. As nice as it is to watch the pounds roll off, this is not an easy journey. I sometimes wonder if it will be like this for the rest of my life. It would be nice to think that someday I can just live a normal life without thinking about food every waking moment. All that being said, I would do this surgery over again in an instant. Even if I have to spend the rest of my life forcing fluids and Protein, it's worth it. I can just hope that it becomes more second nature and less of a hassle.
