  1. I'm on the same boat but at 5 weeks and I haven't lost since the 2nd week after my surgery (-12lbs) It's very discouraging but hopefully it'll pass soon! Meanwhile I had my hubby hide my scale, maybe if I don't see how much weight I'm not loosing I'll stop being upset about it! Good luck and if you figure out how to loose again please let us know!!!
  2. Drink more!!! I had a lot of drinkable yogurth, and jello, that helped a lot, also I blended soups and ate that and it was pretty good!!! Drink some protein shakes, that should help you with the headaches.
  3. For starbucks I get the Sugar free soymilk vanilla latte, its really good and no sugar!!! I also get the somilk green tea latte sans the sugar on ice, it's pretty good.
  4. I didn't know I was only supposed to do sugar free jello, and made real sugar jello but I couldn't eat it. After one spoonful it felt gross. I then tried with the sugar free and that one was just fine.
  5. Hi everyone, so this is my 5th week post op and I only lost weight the first week and a half. I've been stalled since. I tried the upping my calories, lowering my calories, just liquids, just protein and all the advice I got from both here and my kaiser Rn. Today, the clinic where I got my sleeve (in Mexico) called me to see how I was doing and I told him that I wasn't loosing weight. His advice was---"Do not drink anymore protein until 3 months post op and then just do it everyother day. Do not eat as if you were on a diet, just eat whatever you want and since you can only eat a little bit the weight will start dropping super fast". It just seems to be against everything I've heard so far, any advice???
  6. Once you can eat musshies or soft food you don't have that many cravings! I now crave things like fish and chesse as opposed to chips! When I have a really bad craving I go for it and after a bite or two is gone!!!
  7. Where do u get those from? i've been stalled for 3weeks+, maybe that'll cheer me up.
  8. Hi, this is my 5th week and I've only lost 12 llbs, i haven't lost anything in the last 3 weeks! i hear there are stalls but when are they over??? I think we're on the same boat
  9. They lectured me on going to Mexico! Then they asked who my surgeon had been and noted on my records, but then they moved on and said they would help me and they have! Especially since my wounds got infected. They've been really nice and added me to their support groups and I have a bariatric Rn that calls me to remind me when my check ups are and stuff. You should go to ur insurance's pre-op talks, ask them to sign u up that way you know what to expect from the surgery.
  10. I got my shakes at costco and they have 30g of protein, 1 g of sugar and 3g of fat!!! They are only 11 oz and they taste pretty good, so all u need is 2 a day!!! They're called Premier and are 24 for 18 of them. When I got my sleeve 4 weeks ago today, I needed a big pillow to rool out of bed or to cough and sneeze, I neded help showering the first 3 days, and I gad to go upstairs at the hospital and was fine with it I just had to do it slow. Also I would reccomend you get some sugar free jello because the broth and crystal light get boring after a couple of days. I also had some sugar free candy for when I had to take my antibiotic which tasted sooo nasty!!!!
  11. Have u checked ur hormone levels lately??? Two years ago (b4 wls) I managed to loose 60 pounds and felt like s*&^! They checked my levels of everything and everything was fine until my obgyn checked my hormones and that's were the issue was. Try drinking green tea and lots of vitamin C, that helped me a lot.
  12. I had cold shivers for about a week after the surgery, I think it has to do with the meds and the fact that you are burning fat so fast! I still get them once in a while (4 weeks today) and it's when I loose weight
  13. I'm 4 weeks out and 2 days after surgery I got a horrible cold! Sneezing, coughing everything! Then I got my wounds infected, then I got a uti from all the antibiotics and not drinking enough water! I Haven't gotten sick this week though!!! Hopefully the sickness strike is over soon for you!!!
  14. In my case, hunger has been my clue that I'm ready to move on to the next stage! First from clear liquids to full liquids, then from full liquids to puree, and now from puree to soft foods! I've gotten gungry about 3 or 4 times, moved on to the next stage and been fine!!!
  15. I got my sleeve on 2/29 and I just got period two days ago. It's been almost normal! I've always had very painful periods so this was no different!!! The only thing that bothered me is that I couldn't do Ibuprofen and had to stick to tylenol which for me doesn't work as well as far as periods go! I have 3 really close friends that got the sleeve, and for them their first periods post op where heavier.
  16. Congratulations on getting this far on this journey!!! You'll do great and will love your new sleeve! Welcome to the family!!!
  17. Thank u guys! At least I know I'm not alone!!! I have 3 friends that got it done at around the same time and they all lost between 25 to 35 the first month!!!
  18. Me please!!! Right now I'm going from a 22 to a 20. I got my sleeve with dr Almanza too!!!
  19. Hi there! Well I was in pain more than anything because of the gas the pump into you for the surgery! I had a hard time letting it out. Also I suffered from dry heaving wich was bad, but it was only the night of the surgery after that I was fine and haven't vomited since then. I had a mild complication, 3 of my wounds got infected but they started me on antibiotics and they are almost completly healed now (tomorrow I'll be 4 weeks). It's hard to get all your fluids in, I'm still having a hard time with that. And as far a hunger goes, DON'T EVEN WORRY ABOUT IT! I think I've only felt hunger 2 and it has been recent yesterday and 2 days ago! It's like my body is telling me that is ready for the next stage on the diet! But even when you're hungry it only takes 3 or 4 oz of broth or even juice your super full!!!
  20. Hi there, I got my guidelines from cornellweightlosssurgery.org because the TJ guidelines were too vague! Pretty much you are on clear liquids for one week, then full liquids the second week, puree diet the 3rd week which can last 1 or 2 weeks depending on you and soft foods from week 4-6 or 8 again depending on your body! At the website I gave you they give you ALL the info you need and guidelines and even sample menus!!! I really enjoy lentil soup, at first just the soup and now I blended (I'm almost 4 weeks) with a mashed up avocado and a little bit of melted chesse. Also make sure you get your protein drinks, and at first frozen liquid goes down easier!!! Good luck with everything!!!
  21. I guess I'll just have to wait it out
  22. I don't get it! When can we start the fish and stuff without blending??? I mean my instructions say puree/soft food diet 3-4 weeks, so I can start soft diet on the 4th week??? I had my surgery in Mexico so my instruccions are not very specific
  23. I have Kaiser and when I came back from my surgery I made an appointment with my primary care for follow up. Shen then gave me a referral for a surgeon who helped me with the wounds, stiches and assigned me a bariatric nurse that follows up with me whenever I need my blood tests done or I get sick or something. They frowned upon the fact about getting it done in MExico, but they still helped me and gave me info to a support group as well as diet and vitamins and all the things I needed to do with my sleeve.
  24. Thank u! I'm on my 4th week and tired of eating the same thing everyday!!!
