  1. All of these problem areas are targeted quite well in pilates. I know it is a workout meant for dancer types, but you can do them at home and no one will know If you notice, all of your problem areas (except the pecs) are ones that dancers need good muscle tone in to be able to dance with proper form.
  2. Has anyone seen my 600 lb life? I noticed that when someone loses over 100 lbs it seems to stick around in the thigh and calf region. I don't know why, it seems like that area is fairly well worked for cardio. I am worried about that myself because I was a gymnast and dancer growing up and have always had large muscular thighs. SC, under the arm is a nightmare too. Anyone have any idea how to keep these areas on par with the rest?
  3. Congratulations! I am so happy for you and the new life you have made for yourself!
  4. Good topic. How long has this been going on? Stop and think, did it start to happen shortly after you started working out? Did it start after you started a particular workout? Do you live in a really humid environment? I have a couple of recommendations. Shower immediately after a workout. If you can change your underwear twice a day, do it. If you changed laundry detergents, switch back. Try to find clothes that make you *ahem* "adjust" less often. How do I know this? My husband is forced to wear a full army uniform no matter what the temperature is (and we live in TX). He calls it swamp crotch. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!
  5. Check out sparkpeople.com they have free videos that you can use to target a specific area for just 10 or 15 minutes a few times a week.
  6. YAY! Congratulations! I bet you feel wonderful!
  7. Frequently after this surgery we don't eat anywhere near what we should be in calories. Our bodies go into starvation mode. Its an evolutionary adaptation that keeps you from dying when times are tough. If you can somehow increase your calories just a bit that may help. You have to convince your body that you aren't starving it (that can be a trick because that is exactly what you are doing). I am 6 weeks out and have only lost 2 lbs in the past 14 days. I hit a 10 day stall and have only lost 1 lb in the past 4 so believe me I know what you mean. This is why I needed the surgery, weight doesn't come off me quickly. It is frustrating, but the good news is, once that pound is gone, it is gone. I know that I will never see it again. In my case, I think my body has gone into starvation mode. I have a lot of Native American in me and that makes weight loss even harder. Their bodies are EXCELLENT for storing fat to help them survive in the cold or when times are lean. Unfortunately, in our society, I don't have to worry about either and that causes weight loss issues. If it makes you feel any better, I am 30 lbs down and not a single person has even noticed. At least you have people commenting on how great you are doing. Look at that as one of your motivators and keep up the good work. If you lost 40 lbs you have literally lost almost a whole lb per day since you started your journey.
  8. Reflux maybe? Try taking some tums before bed and see what happens.
  9. Cold made my stomach spasm too. Room temp was okay, but warm felt really good.
  10. I was the same way at first. I put a king size pillow on my side and leaned into that. It kept me from going completely over, but it helped me feel like I was lying on my side so I slept better.
  11. I chose the sleeve for many of the same reasons as Lissa. Also, if you ever need to get a scope to see your stomach, it can no longer be done. They cannot access your stomach if necessary, they can only get as far as the pouch.
  12. Great advice. Hopefully these 30 some ideas will give you a place to start.
  13. I started baking and cooking again. I have the new challenge of making everything healthy, yummy and full of protein while keeping calories as low as possible. Also, since I can eat so very little, what I have had better be REALLY good!
  14. Congrats! We will make room for you on the losers bench!
  15. That is a no no. It is not because a drink would have too many calories, it is so that you can get the proper amount of food in before you are full. Some people say it also stretches your stomach (jury is out on that one though). However, it does flush things through faster so you are hungry again sooner.
  16. OMG, not only do I love the title of this post, but the post itself is amazing. I LOVE the way you handled it!
  17. I haven't worn a costume in years and I really miss it! It seems that unless you make an outfit you are expected to be a "sexy something" for Halloween. I can't wait to dress up again. I wanted to dress up as princess peach to my sons Mario this year, but will not stuff myself into those costumes.
  18. My husband thinks its funny that I will eat my food and only have a bite or two left and push it away. I stop when my body tells me, one bite in or one bite from the end. I keep giving my husband the last bites of whatever I have left. He somehow is still losing lots of weight too
  19. You need more fluids, and insoluble fiber in your diet. Even if you are getting your recommended 64 oz a day, that is obviously not enough. I have noticed that I only go every couple of days now (just not enough food to go daily). However, so long as I keep my fluids near 100 oz a day, I have no issues at all. I live in a warm climate and am outside and working out frequently. 64 oz just does not cut it.

It is my understanding, that when you hit the "normal" range, your ratio stays the same even if everything is smaller. The reason so many women complain about sagging is because the ligaments hidden in your pectoral muscles have adjusted to handling a certain amount of weight. In many, many cases when you lose a lot of weight, the ligaments do not adjust well. Keeping the pectoral muscles in shape will help, but it will not completely fix the problem. I have gained and lost weight so many times, I have this problem to some extent. Honestly, I would rather it be something I can strap up then have it being an issue somewhere I can't control!
  21. Really glad you posted on this one. You want to lose fat not just weight. You would have lost fast but had lots of skin and no muscle tone. I'm a little concerned how many people he told this to that just said ok and went along with it. Wow.
  22. You should start looking into crockpot cooking. Some days its the only way I can manage it. I cut up everything the night before (less than 10 minutes), put it in a bag and dump it into the crockpot in the am with some fluids. Good luck finding a NUT, I'm not sure how you go about that.
  23. You aren't alone in that belief at all.
  24. 6 weeks at least. You have to wait for the muscle wall to heal completely or you could give yourself a hernia. Some docs say 8, but I started at 6 doing Zumba and Pilates with no problems.
