Time Of The Month During Your Surgery?
I have been losing quick too. I am 11 lbs down from Sunday morning (Its Saturday am now). Also, I tend to put on 4-6 lbs the first day of my period and I still lost since yesterday. My husband was joking and said if I keep this up, in 2 months I'm going to be on maintenance already. Wouldn't that be nice. haha

Time Of The Month During Your Surgery?
I was actually logging on here to ask that exact question. My surgery is on Monday and my period started today. Sigh....

Caffeine
Just remember, the main concern with coffee is that it is a diuretic and pulls water from your body. Many people have dehydration issues for the first few weeks post op, so coffee isn't a good idea for at least a month.

One Week After Vsg And Food Question

Please Make It Stop
I still got up to 15 or more daily messages. I can't seem to make them stop. I changed my email yesterday to one that I hardly check (that is the only way I can stay on this site). However, it keeps sending everything to the original email listed. Please help.

Anyone Else Still Really Self Conscious About Their Looks?
I am going to start to sound like a broken record on this site, but you may want to see a psychologist to help you work through these issues. If you didn't like yourself before surgery, losing weight alone is not going to help your self esteem. You are likely leaps and bounds healthier, but until you figure out what the issue is inside your brain you will always find something to be unhappy about with yourself. In that picture you looked healthy and happy and I don't see what you mean about it showing your middle. Good Luck! You are doing great.

Leak 4Ever?!
Ignore radiology. Treatment is not their job. Call your surgeon. There is no reason for you to have a "lifelong" leak.

My Pcp Is Not Supportive At All & Made Me Worried Now!
Not all doctors are created equal. Just because they are educated does not mean they don't react like most people when they don't understand something. She sounds like she is quoting 20/20 from 1984. Some people absolutely refuse to accept change. Sounds like you need a more open minded pcp.

Does Anyone Else Miss Eating?
Thank you all for the honesty. These are the types of things that it is recommended we see a psychologist for. We spent a majority of our lives with dysfuntional eating patterns. The surgeons work on our bodies, not our brains. Keep up the good work everyone!

Interested In Getting The Sleeve But People Are Scaring Me!
You can read the forum we have in the research and statistics section called Gherlin and learning. I think in the past year we have completely covered the "surgery makes you slow" debate fairly well. Also, there are quite a number of people who develop depression after this surgery. This is best combated by starting to see a psychologist and continuing for a bit post op. Its hard to change habits that we have all spent a life time developing. There are often deep seated reasons we learned to react with food. Those issues could come up again when you no longer have food to comfort you. However, most of the people on here LOVE their sleeve. You will probably also find that the people on this site skew the statistics a bit because they have made sure they have a solid support system around them. This is extremely important. I chose not to tell my family members or too many other people because I don't want to answer questions or hear the crap that many uninformed people spew from their mouths. I did choose to tell a select few who were concerned at first, but when they realized I had done my homework, they are only supportive. Good luck to you on your decision making! You will find lots of good info and helpful people here.

Anyone Else Doing Run For Your Life?
If you don't know what this is, you can find lots of info on runforyourlife.com. It is a zombie infested 5k where you run for your life. My husband and I have NEVER been interested in something like a 5k before, but we signed up for the one coming to Austin in December. It looks like so much fun!!

Come On Vst? What Is With These Ads You Are Allowing?
All the rest of them are stuff about the surgery, unjury, diabetic cookbook etc. They just kind of flash around and I don't pay much attention to them. Better believe on day 3 of my liquid diet my eye was drawn straight to a dominos ad when it popped. lol

Weight Gain Stats-Surgery Vs. Diet. Short & Long Term
I like the way your mind is going. Nicely done research with halfway reliable sources too! If I would have looked down and saw references to wikipedia, I never would have kept going. lol

Come On Vst? What Is With These Ads You Are Allowing?
There isn't a lot to say about this except a DOMINOS AD? Seriously?

Energy After Vsg
WLS just means weight loss surgery, so VSG fits into that category. My doc told me the other day that I will be exhausted for quite a while after the surgery. He said just watching TV the first few days could wear me out like a marathon would. I have heard people say this lasts a week or two and some say it lasts a month or two. I guess a lot of it is individual body chemistry.

Day 3 Of Liquid Pre-Op
Got to tell you, I really didn't expect it to suck quite this much. I was okay days one and two, but here I am on day three and my stomach won't stop growling. I'm having my protein drinks plus an additional 100 plus oz of fluid every day. My first day was thrown off because I found out that my chewable vitamin has 1g of carbs. Flintstones has 3 per pill so watch out if you are using those. I had to redo my whole plan for the day because I already had planned out the max of 30 carbs. Beef broth makes me feel like I am getting something I want and I have been plowing through that stuff. Also, loving the Jello. I think whats bothering me the most about today is that my brain is starting to feel fuzzy from extreme lack of carbs. Took me 40 minutes to pay bills today instead of 10. I feel like I can't form a coherent sentence half the time. I know it is just going to get worse too. I have been sleeping a lot of my liquid diet time away. I have to take muscle relaxers for a problem in my back and with no food in my stomach I go into auto nap mode within 30 minutes of having taken my pill. I know this is going to get better and not worse. I just needed to whine. Anyone have a particular food they couldn't get out of their head? I'm really not thinking about anything but avocados. lol I guess that could be a heck of a lot worse!

Eating With Your Family During Pre-Op Liquid Diet
I am not sitting down with my family. My husband is handling dinner and making lunches for my son at school the next day. They don't talk about food in front of me. They understand and support me.

Wondering If I Am Weird?!
ROFL. Best case post op scenario and you are confused. You are cracking me up

Tomorrow It Begins
Well, I have my liquid diet laid out and labeled day by day so that I know when to make my jello and never have to drink a cold protein drink. I feel like tonight is my last night of "normal" for a very long time. I have a lot going on in my head atm and apparently my husband is freaking out too. He isn't telling me, but his insecurity has all of a sudden amped WAY up. I know I can do this (and I don't believe my surgery is even going to happen until I finish with my anesthesiology appt on the 6th). However, I have to wonder exactly how cranky I will be. Today I said see ya later to my beloved sushi and am going to have a couple of drinks before my 8 day liquid diet begins in the am. It is starting to sink in just a little, but my surgery date has already been moved once so we will see what happens. I have been waiting for this since early October last year and it doesn't feel real. I guess I will see how I feel when I am dying for some food!!

Food Funerals
I did not realize that most of the food funerals are post op. Maybe my definition of them is incorrect. Going to have to check into that. I thought it was when you overdid something preop that you realize you may never enjoy the same way again.
