  1. I actually really love my trainer because she'll answer any question that I have about exercise and food, but we've become friendly so while I'm working out we talk about other things, and I don't really feel like I'm working out, even though I'm dripping with sweat. And it makes me accountable. Even though I've been a complete slacker lately, I still make it twice a week to see her. And she always asks me what else I've done, cardio etc, and what I'm eating, etc. She also asks about other things going on in my life, that I would never think it would contribute to overall health, like how many hours I've slept. If you have a workout partner that you enjoy working with, don't give that up. All the exercises we do, are really basic things. One week we'll use the weight machines at the gym, other weeks we'll grab 3lb, 5lb, and 8lb weights and do all kinds of things. The toughest weeks are when we're working with free weights and she makes me do, say, bicep curls for 1 minute with 8lb weights, 1 minute with 5lb weights, then 1 minute with 3lb weights. Its HARD!!!!!! On the machines, she'll make me do an exercise for 5 minutes. I would have never thought to time myself like this. I used to do 3 sets of 12, or the like. And pushups and bicycle crunches. Real pushups, on your toes. Jeezzzz. But these are all things that I could do on my own, I just don't have the motivation, as you can see by my lack of cardio!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Pushups, on your toes. They will not only work your back, but your shoulders, arms, and abs. I noticed a bid difference once my trainer made me do them on my toes. I'm up to 26 in a row, but she wants me to work up to 50 in a row. We'll see about that..... Actually, its funny that you say that its the last place that you're losing because it was the first place that I lost. My back has become completely flat but I have huge issues with the front! Maybe I should do some crunches!!!
  3. 52 miles, holy crap! You are my hero....I am not worthy!!!!!! But really, I'm hoping to get back to spin class saturday, but I've been saying that for about a month now. We'll see what happens.
  4. 1 hr with personal trainer, upper body. Now I'm eating a snickers. There is something soooo wrong with me!
  5. Look at you D, you're looking HOT!!!!!
  6. Ok guys, 1hr with personal trainer, lower body and abs!
  7. If you get bored easily, try 20 minutes on one machine, then jump over for 20 minutes on another.
  8. Cheef, that's awesome. I love it, I may start calling you that too!!!!!
  9. I think I'm going to get my butt to spin class tonight, I hope!
  10. Oh, good, cause I'm eating some frankenberry cereal right now! Oh yeah, I'm off to a great start.....:heh:
  11. Chicken and pudding.....hmmmmmmmm, it definately would help chicken go down! Ok, got a talking to from the personal trainer....somehow she can tell that I've been slacking in the cardio and eating areas (gee, I wonder how, I look exactly the same that I did in september!!!!! So, I think for the next few weeks, I'm going to try much harder to work on the diet thing. And the cardio. I know, I know. I feel like I'm repeating myself over and over again. I know I've said this at least 5 times this month. I think its time for some chicken and spinach!
  12. Sooooo not hungry after surgery. It took about 5 days before I really missed eating anything. For those days right after surgery, just the sight of food would make me nauseous. As far as pre op diets, every surgeon is different. Mine said no foods after midnight the night before surgery. Some doctors require liquids only for 10 days, some doctors require low carb, check with your surgeon for their requirements. Also, as far as will power is concerned, you don't need that much. The band makes it easier (not easy, easier) to lose the weight. Keep reading the posts on here, you'll get a good feel for what to expect...
  13. Ouchie Losing, Hope it heals up fast for you. Broken toes are no fun!
  14. Isn't it funny, that seems like sooo much food. And the chicken would sooo not work for me that early either. But it would definately work, I mean, you get your lean meats, lots of veggies, and healthy oils. How many calories do you consume on an average day?
  15. OH Juli, I was thinking of asking for a slight fill. I'm still hovering around 1700 calories, so much more if I add in sugar. I was thinking of just asking for .1ccs, but is it rediculous? I don't know. 2.0cc's in my 4cc band is not enough, 2.4 and I'm closed shut. Any opinions?
  16. Keythra, good luck at that interview!
  17. Di, I have to get off the sugar too, its bad, really bad. What types of food will you be eating?
  18. I think I said it in the other post, but I'm out for this week. I'm going to let the heel spur and shin splints heal up first, and concentrate on spin this week!
  19. JennJenn, I would wait at least 6 weeks post surgery for weights. You can pretty much do most cardio right now, as long as theres no pulling on your stomach, something jumpy like cardio kickboxing or running, I'd hold off on that. Welcome to the thread!!!!
  20. Yeah.....right. I sooo don't think so!!!! As far as you and KarenG. I'm just so excited for you guys!!!! Sometimes I get really anxious about running, like when I got up to 3 minutes, I just wanted to run for 5, I tried, then I hurt myself. Big Dummy! I'll get back there, one day!!! On to Spinning class for now!:biggrin1:
  21. My thanksgiving was pretty good. I often wonder how I can eat a small portion of food on a day meant to be stuffed to the gills and feel completely satisfied, until dessert. That junk just slides right down. I can't believe it. I think the band should be much more descriminatory against sugar laden foods. Although, I guess that's where my work should come in. I figured it was thanksgiving and had a slice of pie anyways. I know I won't do it again until Christmas....I hope!
  22. How'd the spin thread get on the second page???? Oh well, I'm getting back to spin (I HOPE) tomorrow morning. I haven't been in a few weeks, but I need something else to do while I take time off from trainer and running. I hope I'm not too sore!
  23. KarenG. and Daddy, I am so excited for your 20 minute runs! I can't believe it. Just a few weeks ago we were all discussing how nervous we were to run 60 seconds, and here you guys are running 20 minutes! WOW! I'm putting running on hold for a while due to shin splints and my heel spur. I think I'm going to go back to spin for a couple of weeks and try the running thing out again at week 2. Actually, all exercise seems to be slowing down with the holiday season and all the overtime at work. For instance, this week I have to cancel the trainer and postpone till the week after because I am working on a major project right now. I'm working on the bandster rules of eating though (I hadn't really been following them to a tee), so I'm hoping the weight won't hike up while the exercise slows. And guys, don't get tooo cocky, cause me and losingjusme will be right behind you!!!! (JK)
