  1. Different Salzberg. This one is a male.
  2. I usually take the 2nd pill about 30 mins before I lay down because i will usually fall asleep with in 1hour or so.
  3. My word............... My sleeve loves hot (temparature) stuff. When I drink very warm broth, my sleeve is so well behaved. Any thing cooler than thatt, it is unhappy!!!!! I'm still on all clears but I admit I have cheated with a couple teaspoons of SF pudding and some string cheese. I am hoping for pounds lost and a move to the mushy stage at my 1 month post op next week!!!!!! I am researching what I can have during that stage because I willbe back at work and I don't want to do ANY thing wrong!
  4. that wakes up all throughout the night with gas & reflux (throwing up a little)? I'm 19 days out and no matter what I consume, water, protein shakes, vitamins, I'm up all night belching or having the reflux thing. I am on Prilosec 2 times a day and I do take one right before bed. I'm not getting much sleep because of this and I return to work next week!!! I switched my vitamins from thr chewable Bariatric w/ iron to Gummies and I am trying unflavored protein today, just in case they are the cultprit. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem.
  5. My doc gave me the "patch" to put behind my ear for surgery and wrote me a Rx for 2 for when I got out of the hospital. He also wrote a Rx for Zofran (anti-nausea med). I was only nauseous like 6 days post op.
  6. I'm 31 also. i am having some feelings of missing food also. I am praying that once I get further out I can eat what I want in a much more healthier way, i am 2 weeks out and its hard. But what's harder is that when I started this journey, I was 440lbs. I had just finished nursing school. I struggle up stairs, have a hard time fitting in chairs and I can;t find clothes that fit! I was so scared that I would not be hired for a nursing job due to my size!!!!! So food can go, being a healthier me can stay!
  7. Regret? As the ladies previously mentioned , I wish I would have done this sooner!!!!! Of course my insurance didn't pay until this year and my $$$ went towards nursing school tuition instead of self-pay for surgery but I wish I would have done this before I turrned 30. I am glad I did it before my body was riddled with diseases like hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia!!!!! I am 2 weeks out and have had a few issues but nothing that made me feel like this decision was not the right one.
  8. Sorry you were feeling bad. I understand the AMA thing. I felt bad Friday, called my doctor and he sent me for outpatient IV fluids instead of to the ER and I was HAPPY!!! ERs have too much of a wait time. I hope that you are feeling better. It's scary to think you may have a leak and I pray that you don't!!! Please keep me posted!!
  9. Thanks a mil! I'm looking for a way to get in the protein because I really suck at it now!
  10. THis thread has come right on time!!! I am 2 wks post op and I am struggling with the protein shakes! I've done the BariCare chocolate and vvanilla from my doctor's office, AWFUL!!! I have hav the strawberry Chike, ok but I'm not a Strawberry shake/yogurt/ice cream girl. I am thinking of buying just unflavored powder and going with that. I've tasted the New Whey protein shots. Not too bad.
  11. Lewanda, I went on my initial consult with a weight of 440. I went into surgery after my pre-op diet with a weight of 423 (give or take per my surgeon). I weighed 416 on my 1 week post op visit. I plan on getting down to 200 pounds. My best friend had VSG 1 year ago, and he went from 438 to 230 in a year! I hear that men losr faater and he has been very dedicated in working out and eating right. I know how you feel with the people who say " you don't look like you weight that much". I just say, " Everybody carries weight differently". And know I surely do, You will do well. Praying for your insurance approval, and safe surgery and speedy recovery!!!!!! Marla
  12. I suffered from back spasms prior to surgery but I hadn't had any recent episodes. Since surgery on 3/21/12, I have had a nagging back pain. I have no idea what it is but I have been using my heating pad to combat it.
  13. I tried ice chips and they do work. I just so tired that they end up melting before I can get a decent amount. As for popsicles, I "got sick" when I had one in the hospital aand it usually talkes me a while to get over that. I tried drinking with a straw.................. SO far so good. Thx a mil!
  14. Since sips, normal drinking and schugs hurt, i may try a straw. Why do they tell us no straws? My surgeon adamantly said no straws buy he doesn't want me dehydrated either but thats what is happening!
  15. Whether I sip or chug, my tummy doesn't like it!!!!!!! The only thing I can drink in a single sitting with some quantity to is chicken broth. I can't live off of that. I haven't had protein in 2 days because I have been so sick and I almost passed out yesterday due to dehydration!!!!!!! I need help!
  16. I was overly obsessed with my surgey in the weeks leading up to it. The bad thing was I was having my test for my RN boards 4 days before surgery~~ Fortunately I passed. My surgery went well. When I woke up i was freeaking out a little because i couldn't see (i had to take out my contacts) and I still had the tube in my throat. Pain was bearable but i still used the PCA because I felt uncomfortable.
  17. I am on clear liquids with the exception of protein shakes made with water. I purchased protein shakes from my docs office which included Chike shakes.
  18. z My Dr. Salzberg (David Arnold) is a male. I did see that there is a Dr. Salzberg (female) on the southside. I'm doing ok but frustrated that I am still on Clear liquids for 3 more weeks! i'm tired and still a little sore but no regrets at all.
  19. I too am feeling drepressed. I am 10 days post op and I have been brought to tears many time in the last two days. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to be sleeved but I cn;t stand that I so tired. Also, everytime I drink I get horrible gas and I haven't been able to get my 60 oz od fluids in at all. I really which I was given permission to advance to full liquids or mushies because I think having a little substance would help. I don't know what to do
  20. My surgeons office sells food too. They have a medical weight loss program in his office. I freaked out because I thought I would have to spent a lot $$$ on food. I only purchased a little bit and I stuck to 2 Protein shakes (Atkins, Pure Protein) a day and lean meat and veggies for dinner for my two week pre-op. This clear liquid post op is running me ragged because I have at least 3 more weeks of Jello, broth, SF popsicles and Water (usually with the drink packets) to go! I just want to eat something!!
  21. I was sleeved the same day as you were and my doc wants me to do clear liquids and protein shakes until April 19th (Basically 4 weeks out)
  22. Are you having it in Newport News VA, Bon Secours? If so I have heard a couple of bad things about that office. I was sleeved on 3/21/12 at Riverside hospital in NN by doctor Salzberg. I had a wonderful experience!
  23. I feel tha same wa you do. I am 9 days post op and have 3 more weeks of clear liquids!! O how I was looking forward to having a boiled egg on Easter!!! I am sick of SF jello. I don't get in enough liquids because I get gassy after 3 sips. I think I am going to try to do 3 protein shakes a day and hope that pulls me through untik April 19th!!
