  1. Yeah legal ur so right. I will b 2 weeks out on Monday n anxious to move on to something besides liquids. Honestly though I'm a little confused about the difference between pureed n soft/mushies. I would have thought the soft/mushies would come before pureed. Apparently not.
  2. Just curious to see what others were allowed at this stage.
  3. Unfortunately doc still has me on all liquids. :0(. I'm cool though but was just thinking about them today for some reason. Lol
  4. Only 9 days post op so I know it'll b a while yet. That is all. Lol
  5. I'll finally b having my drain removed on Fri 11 days post op. Thank Gawd! How painful will it be? Give it to me straight.
  6. I'm only 7 days post op and honestly I pretty much dislike them all. The smell is a complete turn off. The only one I remotely like is Atkins Dark Choc Royale but sadly it only has 15 grams of protein. I just discovered today that if I mix one of those with a Premier milk Choc shake n then freeze it's way more tolerable for me n it's 45 grams of protein. Tastes like a fudge sicle.
  7. I've been having the same thing for a few days n I'm one week out today so I guess it must b pretty normal.
  8. Thx so much guys. My taste buds r not cooperating post op n all the protein shakes I could stomach pre op are making me gag post op. I know I must get protein in but I just don't know how I'm going to do it. My first follow up appt is Fri so I'll dicuss it with my dr. He has me on strictly liquids (broth, Popsicles, jello, etc) and I'm starving. Hopefully he'll let me kick it up to at least yogurt, pudding, etc. I think I could stomach protein powder mixed in those better than liquids. Thx again.
  9. I am really hungry and I'm not talking head hunger. I'm on liquids though. Do u think I could strain some chicken soup and just eat the liquid part. Broth tastes like a bowl of salt so I can't stand that. I'd be sure to get out all the solid pieces. WDYT
  10. I really haven't felt I've needed it even though my doc said to take it daily. I haven't had any acid, heartburn or reflux issues. Surprisingly my stomach has been kind to me. This may change however once I'm off liquids.
  11. Well had ny surgery on Monday 4/23. It's getting a little better each day. I'm sip sip sipping on Water, eating lots of sugarfree popsicles and Jello with Protein powder although I'm not getting in nearly enough protein. I just can't stomach the shakes post op. I gotta improve on the protein intake. I'm still sore and think I set myself back a little by trying to sleep on my side in the bed. Bad idea. I think I'll just stay in the recliner although even that hurts my neck and back and it's hard to get comfortable. I'm am starting to have slight bouts of hunger and wish I could have something more substantial but that's not an option. I still have my drainage tube and that won't be removed until Friday. Can't wait for that cause it's basically in my way. Lol. My gas has mostly subsided so I'm happy about that. The one thing I'm none too happy about is the fact that the scale says I'm 6 lbs heavier than the day of surgery. I'm assuming it's Fluid but don't know. Can anyone shed some light on that? That's about it for my update. Sorry it was so long.
  12. Tylenol with codeine. It takes the edge off a little but doesn't knock it out all together. Thanks for the well wishes though.
  13. Oh Urban we r n the exact same boat. I was sleeved Mon too n I'm n pain also. Especially when I cough. Dear God it hurts. Not doing so well in the protein dept but concentrating on liquids. I'll b glad when this passes. I can't even walk as much as I know I should b.
  14. I can't lie I'm n a lot of pain. The first two days it was excruciating gas pains now it's extreme soreness. Now it seems like I have to cough every five minutes n that's painful as hell. I'm having a hard time getting any protein in cause it all tastes gross. I'm not doing to bad with the water though. Still not up to 64 ounces yet though but constantly sipping. Please tell me this pain will pass soon. It's so bad.
  15. Today is my big day too. Gotta b there at 11:00. I've been up since 5. Good luck to you. I'll meet u on the loser's bench!
  16. Well today is the big day. I'm getting my sleeve @11:00 this morning. I'm a little nervous but excited. I'm having irrational thoughts like being the only one this doesn't work for, losing too much weight and looking sick, missing being able to gorge on food, and the finality of it all. I've been getting a lot of "you're not big enough for that surgery" and "You don't need that". I've been second guessing myself the past couple of days but I'm going thru with it this morning. Wish me luck and thanks for all the support these past few months.

  18. Try to stay positive and just remember that's 17 lbs that will be gone forever!!!! I won't be sleeved until Monday but I personally think 17lbs in 2.5 weeks is awesome. Ask yourself when is the last time you were able to lose 17 lbs. in 2 weeks. For me, ummmmmmmmmm how about never! LOL I always had to struggle and nearly starve myself just to lose 20 lbs over several months only to have it come right back along with 5 extra.
  19. I'm not sure if a person's BMI has anything to do with it either. I'm actually on the lower end and had to have 2 co-morbities to actually get approved. The surgeon still required a liquid diet for me.
  20. Update: Today is exactly the 1 week mark. I'm down 10 lbs.
  21. Update: I am now down 9 lbs since Monday. 9 more days to go til surgery.
  22. You better werk girllllllll!!!!!! You look amazing. I hope I have those kind of results in 4 months. I'm still in the pre-op diet stage so I hope to be somewhere around 230-235 on surgery day. My stats are pretty close to yours in terms of where you started (I'm a little taller than you though) and I can only hope I see the same results!
  23. I gotta admit in this pre-op diet phase, I've pretty much found every shake I've tried to be gross. They don't upset my stomach but I don't find them appealing at all. The best one I've tried so far is the Atkins Dark Chocolate Royale. It has a pretty good taste if you like dark chocolate which helps mask the gross protein shake after taste. I hope I still like them post surgery or I'm gonna be in trouble trying to find another one I like.
