  1. Update: I'm down 6 lbs. since Monday so I must be doing something right. I have to admit it's getting a little easier too. It's true what they say about the first 3 days being the hardest. I'm still sticking to my Atkins Induced diet coupled with protein shakes the majority of the day. I'm curious to see where I'll be on Monday at the 1 week mark. I'll keep you guys posted.
  2. I know I am not a doctor but I think it's absolute insanity that you would put an obese person who is having weight loss surgery on a liquid diet. Hell if I could do that, I wouldn't need surgery would I? And don't try to tell me it's to prepare me for what's to come after surgery. I'm quite sure I'll have no problem following the liquid diet post surgery because my stomach won't allow anything else. I've been researching this like crazy and have not been able to find any info on why liquid is better than solid. Oh well, I'm gonna do my combination of the two but focus my main intake on the liquid as much as possible. I've actually done Atkins before for my wedding and dropped 15 lbs in two weeks eating WAY more than I am now so I'm not worried. Besides, I have some tea that will clean my colon out like nobody's business pre surgery. LOL
  3. I gotta come clean. I have had to alter my pre op diet. I was becoming physically ill and this is only day 3. I have decided that instead of a strictly liquid diet I'm going to go with the Atkins Induction Phase. I couldn't even make it thru the first day without becoming physically ill. As such, I have been sticking with basically high protein drinks for two meals and 1 extremely low carb meal (maily lean meat, cheese, or eggs thus far). I am careful to keep my daily carb intake under 20 grams. It appears to be working because I am on day 3 and I've already lost 5 lbs. Don't get me wrong, I am still pretty hungy but it is more bearable. I will probably switch to all liquid about 3 days prior to surgery but for now, this is the only way I believe I truly stick to this pre op diet and shrink my liver. So that's it. I've come clean. Don't judge me. )
  4. Unfortunately, my doc says only broth, protein shakes, and sugar free popsicles. No pudding, pudding pops, yougurt, milk, etc. (
  5. Oh honey if u weren't, thank your lucky stars and give your surgeoun a big ole kiss. I'm only on day 1 of the pre op and it's HELL!!!!
  6. Ohhhhh Paula if only it were head hunger. I am having REAL hunger. LOL
  7. I would die for a pudding right now but my dr doesn't allow it. No milk at all. He's cruel. LOL Strickly Protein shakes, jello, popsicles and that's it. It's pretty inhumane if you ask me. LOL I pray once ketosis kicks in it will get better. I'm right there with u on 4/23.
  8. Mine is 4/23 that is if I'm not dead from starvation by then. LOL I'm hoping it gets easier as the days go by as everyone has said. The after taste of these Protein drinks is blahhhhhh as well. Not a fan at all! I can do this though. That's what I have to keep telling myself. I work at night so I'm up now but I can't wait to get home. I'm just going to try and sleep the next two weeks away if I can. LOL
  9. I thought I was prepared for this but I'm STARVING!!!!! Today is day 1 of my two week pre-op liquid diet and I'm dying already! I am soooooo tempted to do a combination of liquid and Atkins Induction that it's not even funny. I don't know how I'm gonna get thru 2 weeks of this. These protein drinks are not getting it! My head hurts and I would absolutely kill for a piece of cheese. LOL

  11. Spot on for me! Also, I like the fact of knowing that sometime in the distant future if I decide I want to have a cookie, a sliver of cake, or anything with sugar, I could do so without the feeling of becoming deathly ill from dumping syndrome.
  12. Wow! Congrats!! Crystal Light has a Margarita Mix?????? Do tell....
  13. Apparently so. I could go on and on for pages about how incompetent she was but I won't. I ended up having to write a longggggg complaint letter to Kaiser about her and then miraculously, I was approved 2 weeks later. She was the worst!!!! I refused to go down without a fight and pay for it out of pocket. It was a long wait/road but I am finally here and will be getting it done for "free" on 4/23. I swear I believe Kaiser puts you thru a bunch of mess hoping you just give up. Not me buddy! With all the money I pay for that insurance, I was determined I was going to reap the benefits and get this surgery on their dime! LOL
  14. Mine took over a year but I have Kaiser and they have the whole 6 month thing going on. Plus I had a totally incompetent nutritionist that cause me atleast another 6 months but that's a whole other story. By the time I have my surgery on the 23rd, it will have been almost 2 years from start to finish.
  15. OMG! DDFinn hit it right on the money for me. I don't want much. Just a plain white tank (tucked in of course), cute jeans, cute belt, cute accessories and stilletos!!!! As a matter of fact, anything sleeveless!!!!! I am so sick of roasting alive in the summer cause I don't want to show my arms!!!!!! I won't even care about the sagging skin (I call it a waving flag) on my arms.
  16. OMG! 9 slices. I couldn't eat that and I'm not even sleeved yet. LOL
  17. Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm gonna follow the doc's advice but this is gonna be haaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrddddddddddddd!!!!!!!!! LOL
  18. Can u explain what at stricture is?
  19. I totally understand them wanting to get your mind right but they have got to know and I'm assuming that will be a lot easier with a smaller stomach after surgery. Liquids & Protein shakes should take care of filling your post op stomach. Atleast you shouldn't have the REAL hunger pains that you'll have on the pre-op with a much larger stomach. @Spatters3 - Did your doctor require a pre-op liquid diet or an Atkins type diet?
  20. I should add that I totally plan to follow my dr's orders but was just asking out of curiosity.
  21. I know my dr requires the 2 wk liquid diet and I know the reason but wouldn't something like the Atkins or South Beach diet essentially do the same thing? I know tons of weight can be lost on low carb diets and wouldn't that do the same thing to shrink your liver or am I totally off? It seems cruel and unusual punishment to put us overweight folks on a totally liquid diet PRE surgery. LOL
  22. I can't offer any advice because I won't be sleeved until 4/23 but I am LOL@ "eyes are hungry".
  23. I could go on and on with my list but I forgot one more thing. I want a pair of those Victoria's Secret sweat pants that have "Pink" on the butt. I want to be able to see "Pink" and it not look like "P I N K" cause my azz is so wide. LMAO
  24. Oh and one more thing. This may seem silly to you but I want to be able to look cute in just a plain ole white tank top and jeans. LOL
  25. I can't wait to participate in picture taking. I avoid the camera like the plague because when I see the pictures, I am mortified. I also can't wait to wear white and not feel/look like the Michelin Man. I mostly can't wait to wake up everyday and my first thought not be about how fat I am and feeling hopeless about changing it.
