  1. IV fluid is saline. Salt water. We absorb it like sponges, which is what we are supposed to do. It will come off in no time. Keep to your surgeon's directions. Good luck, and welcome!
  2. Debi, Didn't you mention once that you are 6' tall? Height plays a part in sizing. I'm only 5'7". You are to be commended for losing so much weight. Good job!
  3. I woke up without that "ping pong ball" feeling in my throat, and I never realized just how much I noticed the port. Very annoying. I had surgery right before Christmas Break, so I had almost 4 weeks to recover. I'm still battling some fatigue issues. I love my sleeve, and would do the revision all over again.
  4. On the relevance scale, being healthy outweighs surgery scars every time.
  5. I wish it were sex :biggrin5: but it seems to be shoes.
  6. Are you spying on me? :ihih: This described my day to a T!
  7. Mushies for me until I see the doc on Feb. 2nd. I can't imagine trying to eat pot roast right now. The slimes sound like the vomiting I did with a too-tight and slipped Band. Absolutely disgusting, and I did it about 2 - 3 times a week. No slimes with the sleeve yet, and I hope I never have them.
  8. The nausea sucks. :banghead:
  9. I can't answer this one, but I'm responding so that I get the info, too. Hope things calm down for you.
  10. Yahoo! Congrats! Follow your doctor's rules, and you'll feel better soon.
  11. The part of the stomach that makes intrinsic factor, which allows us to absorb vitamin B-12 from food, is the part removed doing the sleeve. The part of the stomach that allows us to absorb calcium is greatly reduced. On top of that, we are eating much less food, so we are getting fewer nutrients from what little we eat. The vitamins aren't for weight loss; they are for life!
  12. I've already prayed for you. Please keep us up on how you are doing.
  13. I am 7 weeks post-op and rarely go over 700 calories a day. 1,100 sounds like a feast. :blush5: Carbs (even "good" carbs) trigger the release of insulin, which causes the body to store fat. When insulin isn't high, the body releases glucagon, which triggers the body to burn fat. This is over-simplified, but you get the general idea.
  14. Amen, sister! "Cheating" means breaking the rules. Why have the surgery if you don't intend to do what you are supposed to do? Sheer silliness. And, yes, denial.
  15. If I hadn't have had my gall bladder out at the same time I had my revision, I think that the pain would have been much less than it was having the Band put in. That port site hurt. I'm almost 6 weeks out, feeling great, and couldn't be happier.
  16. Yes, something has changed. Get to the doctor. Acid reflux and night cough are major signs of at least a slip. Doctor!
  17. The woman who bragged about going out, right after surgery, and eating popcorn...shivers. There's "cheating," and there's attempted suicide.
  18. Brat, I really admire your positive attitude. God bless you as you recover from this. Glad that you all are okay.
  19. Amanda, I'm with you. I'm doing what I was told. That way, if anything goes wrong, the error won't be on my head.
  20. When I got the Lap-band (in December), and was freezing all the time, my Best Half got me a fluffy robe. When I had the revision done (also in December), he bought me an electric blanket. Did I marry the perfect man or what? :Banane55:
  21. A staff member at one of my sister high schools had had a Lap-band for awhile, but chose to keep it secret. Shortly after her retirement party, she collapsed, and within a few days, was dead. It seems that her Band had eroded, and she had a massive infection. There was nothing that the doctors could do. Every time I see one of those "Get Thin!" billboards along the freeway, I want to tear them down. Many people seemingly do fine with the Band, but the thing is still a ticking time bomb.
  22. I was told 70 - 80 grams of protein a day, and 50 grams a day are still in the form of protein shakes. I can't get enough from my mushies yet. I won't start solids until the beginning of February, when I see my surgeon again. Glad you're feeling better.
  23. I guess I should be ashamed to admit this, but I always enjoyed Travel Channel's Man vs. Food. I can't watch it anymore. It makes me nauseous.
