G*d Da*n Chocolate!
Psh... my dad (yes, I still live at home) bought 2 large bags of Snickers "for the trick-or-treaters"... we live on three acres and have never had a trick-or-treater in the 30+ years since my parents have lived there. Oh, temptation.

How Long Until Hunger Comes Back?
I'm a little over 3 months out and don't feel true hunger, but I can feel my blood sugar drop if I go too long without eating. I'm still dealing with head hunger though I'm the same way that I get irratible if I don't eat and yesterday I heard a term that I thought was pretty funny... "hangry" which is the state of anger or irratibility resulting from being hungry. I need to tell my boyfriend that this is a real thing! lol! http://www.bitchinnutrition.com/food-for-thought/hangry/

Operating Table
I too was awake when I went into the operating room and had to scoot myself onto the table but I wasn't awake for much longer than that! They must have lifted me onto a different bed because I woke up in recovery in a different bed. A few days later I noticed a had a pretty good size bruise right above my left hip that I didn't have before surgery that I'm guessing was from moving me. I'm just glad I wasn't awake to feel how I got that bruise! lol

Urinary catheter anyone?
I had a catheter placed after I was put under, and I couldnt really tell I had it in. I actually didn't mind having it because then I didn't have to get up to pee! It was nice! haha The only uncomfortable part was when she took it out before I left the hospital, and they just have you take a deep breath and pull it out. Same deal with my drains.

Seminar to Surgery?
I had my inital seminar April 4th, but I had to wait until June for insurance reasons. So really, my journey began June 6th with the consultation and I was sleeved July 20th. I have BCBS of MI insurance and the only approval I needed was to have the hospital call the insurance company and "verify my benefits." I was instantly approved.

It's not ever winter yet and I can't take it
Oh man, I'm the same way! I used to always be HOT. I walked into work with my coat, mittens, and scarf on yesterday and someone mentioned to me "you're cold all the time because you lost all of that weight!" I didn't really notice it until she said that! It's 55 degrees here in Michigan and I've pulled out my space heater too but I'm always cold. I guess we'll have to be bundled up until our body regulates itself again!

Vitamins make me nauseous
I was taking Flintstones Complete for the first 2 months out from surgery and had no trouble tolerating them at all... then I ran out and tried taking the bariatric formula samples I recieved in the mail and also a regular women's one a day and they both made me very nauseous. I think I may be going back to the Flintstones!

Oscar Meyer, loads of protein
Hi CT. These things sound amazing! I am having trouble finding where they are only 4 carbs and 35 g of protein though! I looked on the Oscar Meyer website and none of the Cracker Combos seems to have those nutrition facts. The Turkey & Chicken Cracker Combo has 17g fat, 25 g carbs, and 20 g protein. All of the other combs seem to have around the same facts. Whatsupwiththat?

Scar care
Has anyone tried Bio-Oil for scar treatment? I've read good reviews on Amazon but haven't tried anything yet. At 10 weeks out, my scars are still bright pink and raised.

Did your VSG make you "EMOTIONAL"?
Oh yeah, my emotions are all over the place. I've been having mood swings like it's nobody's business and have had to warn my family and friends that it's the hormones, not me. Haha. I also started taking hormonal birth control about 2 weeks after surgery, and one of the side effects is mental depression. I've been told that once the hormones level out in our bodies, our emotions will get back to normal too. Here's to hoping that's true!

HOW can u possibly get 60+grams of Protein without supplements??
There's no way you'll be able to get in 60 grams of protein in at four days out of surgery. The first time I hit my goal of 70 grams was exactly two weeks after surgery. Four days out I was really just focusing on getting my water in and sips of protein drinks every few hours.

Does anybody drink energy drinks??
I drank a 5 hour energy a couple weeks ago because I was just absolutely exhausted - and let me tell you - it was NOT good! My stomach immediately started doing summersaults and I had to go to the bathroom right away. It also made me super shaky for the rest of the night. Before I had surgery, I LOVED 5 Hour Energy's and usually drank one once a week or so.

How long did you wait to drive?
I have the exact same response as ranoodle. I took a week and a half off of surgery and was off the loratab about 3 or 4 days after surgery. I drove myself into work when I returned and was completely fine!

Fashion Sense
I can totally relate....I'm always wondering what I'll dress like when I lose weight, since when you're overweight it's hard enough to find close that fit and are flattering! I've never really had a "style", so It'll be interesting to see what I pick when I don't have to shop in the plus size stores!

HOW can u possibly get 60+grams of Protein without supplements??
I usually hit my goal of 70 grams of Protein and I just recently cut out the Protein drinks (only because I'm SO sick of them) My typical day: (I'm 2 months out) Breakfast (7:45): 1 Morning Star Sausage Patty (10g), 1 egg (6g), and 1 slice of cheese(4g). Total = 20 grams Morning Snack: (10:00): Reduced Fat Colby Jack cheese stick = 5 grams lunch (12:30): I will usually have some sort of lunch meat, lately I've been digging Oscar Meyer Carving Board Roast Beef (YUM) = 2 oz is 12 grams Afternoon Snack (3:00): Carb Control Light 'n Fit Yogurt = 5 grams dinner (6:00): Some sort of protein, I will sometimes do chicken (3 oz=24g) with a little tomato sauce and mozz cheese (1/4 c = 7 g) melted on top. At that point it puts me at 73 grams of protein. If I get to this point in the day and I haven't reached my protein requirement I'll have something like SF FF pudding and the milk from that will usually get me to where I need to be. My nut said I need to eat 6 small meals daily. Hope this helps! I'd provide more suggestions, but that's pretty much all I eat!

What is/was everyone's losing plan
I want to revive this thread! How is everyone doing? How far out from surgery you are what percentage have you lost? I'll be 8 weeks out on Wednesday, so...7 weeks and 5 days. My pre-op weight was 264 and i was 226 this morning. I've lost 38 pounds or 32% of my excess weight. How many times a day are you eating? Six times a day per my nutritionist's guidelines. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack. What is the amount of normal food (non liquid) you are now able to get down? I'd say about 3 ounces on average. I weigh out some sort of Protein for lunch every day at 2 oz. but it doesn't make me stuffed. What kind of supplements are you taking? Types and Brands Everyday I take 2 Flintstones Complete, 500 mg Vitamin B12, 5000 mg Biotin, levothyroxine, a generic acid reducer, and bc. How much protein are you supposed to be getting and how much are you actually getting in daily and what are your sources of protein (brands of shakes etc), My nutritionist's goal for me is 70 grams of protein daily, and on the weekdays I can usually hit it or come within about 5 grams. On the weekends, not so much...probably only about 40 grams. I have been trying lately to get in all of my protein from food sources and no Protein drinks. (Mostly because I'm just sick of them) I do a lot of meat, cheese, eggs and yogurt. How much Water you are actually getting down each day? It is a chore to get down the entire 64 ounces, but at the least I get in about 50 if not the full 64. I really have to mix it up with crystal light or ocean spray cranberry lemonade. What is your exercise routine, type of exercise, and how often. I go to the gym three times a week for at least 30 minutes. I know, it's not a lot, but I am gradually building up more time doing cardio. I began by doing 15 minutes on the elliptical and almost couldn't finish it. I can do 30 minutes a lot easier now and add a little more time on each time I go. How is your energy level? I've always been a low energy person, but I do think it has improved since surgery. I still take naps sometimes after work just because I love to sleep. I'm sure I could make it through the day without one though.

Are you eating on a schedule ...
I have a schedule I stick to throughout the week, and I kind of fall of the wagon on the weekends (probably because I tend to sleep til noon) Anywhos, my schedule: 7:30 - 8:00 Breakfast (I've been having a morningstar breakfast sausage, an egg and a slice of cheese which is 20g of protein total and a little under 200 calories) 10:00 Vitamins and morning snack (cheese stick or 4 oz of yogurt) 12:30ish Lunch (I usually just have lunch meat or bring some chicken...or leftovers) 3:00 Afternoon Snack (yogurt or cheese stick, whichever I didn't eat in the morning) 6:00 Dinner 8:30ish Evening snack (I've been doing SF FF pudding and SF cool whip...yum) I try and squeeze in all of my water before I leave work at 4:00 because I usually won't get any more in at home. My docs rule is no drinking 5 minutes before a meal or 30 minutes after.

How many calories is everyone getting per day?
I'm 7 1/2 weeks out and get in between 600-800 calories a day. Weekends I don't do as well and fall to about 500 at the most. My goal is to get 70 grams of protein in and of course the 64 oz of water.

what kind of exercise.....
I am 7 1/2 weeks out and have been going to the gym to use the ellipticals 3 times a week. My goal is to increase my time by 5 minutes every time I go. The first time I went, I did 15 minutes and was about to keel over lol. I'm up to 30 minutes now. I'm taking baby steps.
