  1. I am actually still pre-op...just beginning my journey! I was seeing a weight loss doctor at the time who was prescribing phentermine and I pretty much told him I felt like a beached whale retaining all this water! Lol. That's why he put me on the diuretic.
  2. I'm on a diuretic called Diazide (Dyazide?) and I can actually notice a 5-8 pound weight gain when I stop taking it for a couple days. Crazy, I know! -Leah
  3. Hello everyone! I have been reading the VST boards for awhile now and decided to sign up and join the fun. My name is Leah and I live in the area of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am 21 years old and have been overweight/obese it seems like my whole life! My weight started going up probably when puberty around 11 years old. Throughout the years, I have tried many, many different things in an attempt to lose weight. I've tried Weight Watchers twice, a program for teens called M Power through the University of Michigan, Orlistat (yuck!), Phentermine twice, Adkins, and keeping a personal eating diary on my own. Although I have lost the same 30-60 pounds over and over again, I am back up to my highest weight. I have been considering WLS since I was about 17 and have seriously looked into it in the past few months. I went to a seminar at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti on April 4th. Before I went to the seminar, I was considering the Lap Band, but quickly changed my mind from the seminar info, reading posts on here, and watching HOURS of videos on YouTube. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance at this time and have to wait until June (when I get my insurance back) to begin my journey. I have a consultation on June 6th and am literally counting down the days. I can't wait!!! A big thanks to everyone on here sharing your stories and helping other people through their journeys! Can't wait to share mine with everyone! -Leah
