  1. So unlike what I had heard and expected Aunt Flo did not show up right after surgery. Instead she showed up nearly 3wks LATE. Can we say OUCH? That doesn't really absolve me of eating a piece of dark chocolate Saturday and Sunday though. I'm also weepy extra emotional irritable and unreasonable.
  2. I think you should push through to your goal. You said 59lbs is a lot....and I had to laugh considering you have lost well over 300lbs already...THAT is a lot my friend. I am inspired truly. I was told that as we get closer to a healthy weight our bodies will naturally slow down weight loss because we'll be taking in and burning roughly the same amount of calories. So maintenaince will just "happen"
  3. 5. You are reminded to feed yourself due to the never ending Chorus of "I'm HUNGRY Whine whine whine" 4. You are forced to exercise even when you'd rather be sleeping or laying on the couch. 3. You get to laugh at your child's truly horrible jokes. Laughter speed healing. (my 4 yr old's new favorite is why did the Hippo cross the playground) 2. Someone is always sympathetic when you feel crappy (and you might just get a bunch of sunny dandylions shoved in your face by a dirt faced cutie pie) 1. There is always someone around willing to eat what you couldn't finish (currently my 16 month old is happily chopping down the other half of my omelet) Oh and the Hippo crossed the playground to get to the other slide....as did the chicken, the cow, the rooster, the fish, the numa-numa-bing bang and the "Uh...I fah-goted"
  4. You spit it out. So instead of being off the wagon...you just put one foot on the ground
  5. The Reason they said no Vitamins this early out is because they are HARD. I had to crush all medication for 2wks some people have to crushit for 6 months. I also was not allowed to take chewable vitamins for 2wks either. I don't know about the shakes. Mine are 160cal and 30grams of Protein. Except on "it's so hard to eat anything days" when I do a 280 cal shake that has 60 grams of protein. Double check WHERE those calories are coming from. If they are coming from sugar it's probably not the best choice.
  6. I just make my own coffee flavored protein drinks using some instant coffee powder...works pretty well.
  7. I jumped on the scale this morning because I'm obsessive. I had to re-weigh myself 3 times because I am at the lowest weight I've been in 5yrs. Which is kind of sad considering this morning I weigh 309.4lbs I'm looking forward to being under 300 for the first time in 8yrs soon. Oh and for congratulations sake.... December 2010 I weighed 351lbs SW Aprill 22nd 2011 I weighed 331lbs 1 Month out I weigh 309.4lbs For a Grand total of 41.6lbs lost since I started this journey and 21.6 lbs lost since surgery Maybe I'll make my 30th birthday Goal after all. 49 more pounds for that one!
  8. I don't think it's a stall. I think you got pumped full of fluids and your body is still re-distributing them. I left the hospital 8pounds heavier than I went in due to all of the fluids that I recieved via IV (Surgeon buying time against dehydration until I could drink more easily)
  9. I had Lovenox (sp?) in the hospital for my VSG and only until I was up and walking around (so a total of 3 injections) Heparin's function is to stop blood clots from forming, so it would make sense for bruises to continue to get larger because the blood isn't coagulating like it normally would. I personally think it's ridiculous and extremely dangerous for someone to take heparin long term who does not have a clotting disorder, or who is not completely bed ridden and at risk of developing blood clots in their legs. If my surgeon had sent me home on Heparin I would have told him no way Jose! My Experience with Heparin was when I had my 4th child by unplanned c-section. The hospitals policy was for all c/section moms to be given Heparin until Discharge. Well that policy nearly killed me...I had a slow bleed in my belly, and ended up needing 4 transfusions, probably would have needed more if I hadn't told them NO on the Heparin 3 days after surgery...I spent a total of 5 days in the hospital recovering.
  10. I desperately need water but it hurts to swallow. GAH Why now??
  11. Butt I lick seaing all the speling misteaks they make me lauf. I think their are alot of pepol who will apresiate you're hellp tho. Oh man that was torture to type. Especially typing alot PET PEEVE it's A LOT not alot two words people and YOU ARE is You're and Your can never be YOU ARE.
  12. Huh. Interesting. I feel like I have funnel inside of me especially when I drink really cold water. I feel it in the top of my stomach and know I can't take another swallow until I feel it in the bottom of my stomach haha
  13. Yes because there are tons of men trolling WLS support boards looking for women He sounds like the Jealous type...not generally a good type to keep around. They get weird controlling and start accusing you of doing things you aren't. It quickly becomes an abusive dynamic. I say Good Riddance.
  14. Oh Ok so you'r ejust not used to drinking water. Chug it baby...the colder the better...also try different brands of bottled water some taste LOADS better than others. I prefer spring water to filtered water...it just tastes better.
  15. Why do you hate Water? Have you thought about flavoring it lightly? Like with a tiny bit of crystal light or some Mio flavoring?
  16. Don't feel bad HUG There is a HUGE l Learning curve going on. It takes time to figure things out. The ONLY reason I knew to eat every three hours was because of a failed diet from 5yrs ago that explained that if you're not eating at least every 3 hours while consuming such small portions your metabalism will go on hiatus. As long as you are feeding your body every few hours (regardless of how little you may be eating!) your body will work to burn off fat.
  17. Oh and my lunch yesterday it was more like 1/8 cup of cheese but I didn't feel like doing the math to figure out 1/8 in decimal form and the Afternoon snack...the egg drop Soup...light (my recipe) was more like a "burning the candle and both ends it's super late and my stomach is acting hungry what's the least horrible thing I can eat right now" snack
  18. I don't know if you'll be able to see this or not...http://www.sparkpeop...lementByID=TRUE That was yesterday for me. If you can't click it I'll be happy to type it out. Yesterday I got in 817 calories 18 carbs and 95 grams of Protein. I eat every 3is hours.
  19. You might want to try "ideal" sweetener It's Xylitol the same sweetener used in many sugar free gums now. It's good for your teeth and tastes pretty good IMO http://www.idealsweet.com/ It is VERY sweet so a tiny bit is more than enough (one packet is the sweetness equivelant to 2 ts of sugar)
  20. Taking a very good Calcium and Magnesium supplement helps as well. (1500 cal 500 mag) it kind of works like a muscle relaxant letting it all "slide" so to speak
  21. I'm currently on purees but even with that I can tell you that the heavier something is the less of it I can eat.
  22. I just started on pureed foods, found that I need to add stock or sauce to meats or they hurt me. Thinking that I'm going to need to make super moist meats a priority when cooking.
  23. How are you with spices and sauces. I can cook chicken about a 110 different ways You may need to invest in a few cook books and just experiment. I've cooked 6 chicken breasts 6 different way on the same day before LOL
  24. Because you're eating less you aren't getting as much sodium in as you normally would. I suggest that you begin salting your food to taste to help.
  25. How is your water and salt intake?
