  1. Nah about 15 of that is pre-surgery.
  2. So today I feel like I've been eating all day long, and I was worried so I just did a mental tally Breakfast 1 Protein drink (8oz) Snack Stopped at Orange Julius in the mall while running errands bought a 12oz Light smoothie w/ protein Drank maybe 3-4 oz lunch Still running errands bought a small broccoli cheese Soup from Panera, watered it down and fished out the veggies (tossed em) (8oz serving) dinner Roasted red pepper and tomato soup 6oz Snack Protein Drink (8oz) So I've eaten 34oz of food today or 4 1/4 cups Pre-Sleeve I would have consumed 4 1/4 cups of food by lunch time! And it would have cost me a whole lot more calories! (Total calories today (rough estimate) 700, could have done better on my protein intake though 61grams) I think I'm going to try to buy some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken soup to carry with me on errands that way all I need is some warm Water and a cup...much better for me than the smoothie and soup from today.
  3. Sounds completely normal IMO. I can drink an 11 oz protein shake (pre-made, made with water not milk) in about 30minutes time. But can only drink 3/4 cup of roasted red pepper and tomato soup. It all depends on consistency and thickness. The 2 types of butternut squash soup I've tried are of medium thickness so probably 4-6 oz would be right around how much I could get down too (8 days post op)
  4. I feel really good, it's kind or weird really if I didn't have stitches and steri-strips in/on me I'd wonder if I had surgery at all HA!
  5. That's actually not accurate. Yes the risks of uterine rupture increase with each c-section, but it it minimal. The Latest research indicates that even after 3+ cesareans the risk of uterine rupture (during labor...not for elective repeat c-sections) is still right around 1% and of those less than half will result in major morbidity or death. ACOG (American Congress of OBGYN's) has actually stated recently that VBAmC (vaginal birth after multiple c/sections) is a safe and reasonable choice. The bigger risk with multiple c-sections is the risk of problems with the placenta namely acretta in which the placenta grows through the scar the worst versions being complete infiltration of surrounding organs. Which is why is so important for women to A) work to prevent the first c/s and VBAC. Sorry stepping off my "Birth Junkie" soap box
  6. Hi Folks! Quick intro. I'm Apple, I'm a Christian, married to J and Mom to C, W, E and A I'm 29 and was just sleeved 7 days ago. So Hi
  7. Nope they won't think you are nuts...and if they do they won't give you an evil eye. My Aunt is gluten intolerant and often orders things is weird ways. :-D
  8. Wow, that does sound aweful and scary! You went home the next day?? My experience was totally different. My surgery was the first of the day, IV and gas in the OR, woke up in recovery already with a morphine pump button in my hand and a nurse right there reminding me to breathe because I was having trouble remembering to do that (anesthesia kicked my bootay) I slept the majority of the first 24hours and when I wasn't asleep someone was always checking in on me making sure I was comfortable. I did NOT have to do any barium swallow as my Dr. checks for leaks before closing his patients up by filling the sleeve with blue liquid. The next morning after my JP Drain contents were analyzed for amalayse Fluid (saliva and digestive juices) I was cleared to sip Water. I was up walking around the next day as well. The Catheter was removed that afternoon as well once I was drinking water well. I went home the 2nd day after surgery after not barfling up 2 meals and being disconnected from all IV's and still having good urine output.
  9. what are you eating/drinking? It could be that you just need to use the bathroom too
  10. Take a DEEP Breathe. You haven't done anything wrong. Sometimes our bodies need a week or two to catch up. Your surgery was 17 days ago, That means you haven't lost anything for only 10days...give yourself another week for your body to reset itself before you start freaking out. Deep Breathe Relax It WILL happen, just let the shock to your system work itself out.
  11. Tonight we made Milkshakes for the kids. 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, 3 cups of milk 3 scoops of GNC's Alpine Punch whey protein barf-o-rama powder. Into the blender. Divide into 4 glasses Put straws in glasses and serve to unsuspecting children for a extra special bedtime treat. Then laugh evilly as they snarf it down and ask if there is anymore.
  12. Regardless of if the surgery is laprascopic or open it is still MAJOR SURGERY don't delude yourself thinking that the exterior incision changes anything.
  13. Hubby is making turkey burgers for the kids....I made homemade broccoli cheese Soup earler. I will drink the "juices" from the broccoli cheese soup and watch everyone enjoy Soup and burgers for dinner. Why yes I am a carnivore and am having difficulty with not eating actual meat...but faintly meat flavored drinks.
  14. Hon...you might just have to manually remove it. Gross I know, but it does need to come out before you end up impacted with stool. Rubber glove a little pushing and a couple of sweeps around it with your finger shoule loosen it enough that you can push it out the rest of the way...or you may need to dig a little. Sorry to be so graphic...I feel your pain after my 2nd child was born I spent 2 weeks without a bowel movement...it was torture and just "digging" was the only thing that finally got things moving again (I had been trying to go for about 4 days at that point)
  15. AMEN!!!! I am no longer going to sit on the sidelines of my own life, I'm fighting my way into the game.
  16. THIS APPLE Thats right folks. I who once had an (unmedicated) fasting blood sugar of 345 and with metformin and insulin got it down to 120 prior to surgery now have a fasting glucose (unmedicated) of 95!!! NINETY FREAKING FIVE PEOPLE!!!! In 3 months I will repeat the A1C test and if it is below a 6 I will be considered to no longer have type 2 Diabetes. THANK YOU SLEEVE!!!
  17. I went to GNC and got their 100% whey Protein Isolate Unflavored variety I think it's the Pro-series...Large red labeled container. It is unflavored...but still has a taste...make sense? It will make your chicken broth into Creamy chicken soup...but it won't change the flavor of foods too drastically. I want to get a container of unjury Chicken soup when I go for my post op on Monday.
  18. I don't know...The only experience of surgery I've had prior to being sleeved was c-sections...and definitely would not have been able to handle tummy laying 1 month out. I'm guessing though since these incisions are smaller and spaced out it might be easier. I guess wait and see.
  19. I was craving something homey and comforting so I made some pumpkin Soup (it's rainy and cold here in Wisconsin...seemed appropriate and is ok for the post op diet) I made my usual 8 serving recipe...haha I think it's going to become a 16 or 20 serving recipe. So I dished up a bowl added a scoop of unflavored Protein. I got about 2/3rd through the bowl and just didn't even have the desire to pick my spoon back up. It wasn't that I felt full...it was just that I didn't need any more food in my belly. That is so so amazing to me. (and now after leaving the table, I definitely feel full so my body signaled me before It would have become a problem AMAZING!!)
  20. It was gas...1 gas ex strip and a couple gulps and 1 giant belch later...all better. I couldn't tolerate pepcid in the hospital given via IV within minutes it was like my saliva glands were trying to drown me (literally shooting streams of saliva out!) and I would get incredibly nauseous...so not eager to try any other acid reducers.
  21. I'm 4 days out from surgery and have this weird pain...like I have an air bubble stuck, it's essensially right between my boobs where that tiny little incision is...but more in my stomach/throat but not...does that make any sense at all? Is this just me healing (noticing other minor pains since the major ones are more tolerable now) or should I be calling my Dr.?
  22. Anything that passes through a seive is considered a full liquid...so yeah it passed through the sieve it's allowed.
  23. So I was sleeved on last friday this is my first full day home. I've been awake for about 6ish hours and have gotten in almost 32oz of Water (go me!) Plus an 8oz Protein drink, my lunch is warming up now (potato Soup w/ protein powder) I just ate a popscilcel and it occured to me. Do I count that as food or fluids? And how much fluids? Thanks. I thought I would feel incredibly different like something was missing after surgery but I feel pretty normal other than the occasional painful air bubble from not waiting for a sip of water to settle before taking another sip. And the surgical pains...
  24. I got home earlier today after being sleeved by Dr. Kemmerling @ Aurora Bay Care Medical Center. I have nothing but positives to say about the whole experience. (Well maybe not about the IV's as my arms look like purple pincushions atm ) The Pre-op stuff was smooth sailing all except for the difficulty getting IV's they eventually got one that they knew wouldn't stay but was good enough to send me off to sleep. I also got a massage while waiting for my OR time slot which was pretty awesome, and very helpful to help me relax. I don't remember too much from recovery other than I kept forgetting to breathe so someone was right there in my face telling me to breathe for I don't know how long. I was kind of paniced. and ouchie but someone was always there helping me. I slept essentially all of the first 24 hours. The nurses were great. NOthing but positive reviews for the hospital and staff. Even the dietary aide was awesome, very encouraging and congratulating me on making such a hard decision to have this surgery.. The Resp. Therapists too were very encouraging. Anyway I'm home, I can get down about 6oz of an 8oz Protein drink right now, drinking Water alright too.
  25. I'm scared of the pain...I've had surgery before I remember the pain. I'm scared of feeling thirsty and not being able to drink (I am a heavy consumer of the H2O ) I'm scared that I won't be able to sleep for the majority of the first day like I would want to...if only to avoid the unpleasant first day discomforts. I'm scared that I will have flashbacks to my last OR experience (treated worse than an animal while in hard labor with my 4th child...eventually knocked out after berated and ridiculed for not staying completely still during pushing contractions) Scared of taking any anti-anxiety meds for fear that I will get waterfall mouth and just sound like an idiot.. Scared of changing my life Scared of losing my society buffer, Scared of the lose hanging skin, scared that this surgery won't be the tool that finally helps me lose weight. Scared that I'll screw it up. Scared that I won't be able to resist the sugar monster in me that craves sweets of any kind. Scared that I'll have a complication, Scared that I'll leak, Scared that while in there they will find my insides riddled with tumors, Scared that I'll die, Scared that I'll need a blood transfusion, Scared that they will be mean to me, Scared that my dreams will never come true. Scared... This is normal stuff right?
