  4. Welcome to the rest of your healthy life!!! After all the initial stuff, I agree that the surgery was a piece o' cake. And you're right to take it slow.....everyone's different! Lots of wonderful support here if you have questions....I definitely had lots of them!!! Don;t be afraid to ask....we've ALL been through it! Take care and drink lots of water!!! Put your feet up, if you can, and take it easy! Hugggggggs, Nancy*

  7. OMG!!! I had such a laugh reading all of your replies!!! We're all in the same boat....and all know what it's like. We've all made the same excuses...the dog ate it....what Cookies???.....etc etc.....feels good to finally admit it to someone....almost like true confessions! Greg....I worry about you sometimes!!! But then the board wouldn't be the same without your sense of humor!!! Your feminine side??? Hmmm...interesting.....want details!!! :-) and the sweatband....nice...real nice! Now do you know it's SOLITARY??? Although i could have really used one of those padded thingys the other day......had a hole in my chin.... :-) :banana
  8. Hi everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for a change because after reading all your awesome threads I needed to jump in!!! Hope you don't mind! Revelations.....about myself....since my lap band surgery. Call it an NSV, a perk, a mini victory....call it what you like....but I think that everything I'm experiencing is AWESOME!!! I'm learning so much about the old me that I've never realized or thought about before. And I know you'll agree! One particular revelation for me is that I no longer have an over-abundance of napkins in my car!!! I know you can ALL relate to this...c'mon....fess up! But, the truth is, I went through the car wash last week and wanted to wipe my mirrors afterwards. I have always had napkins coming out from every nook and cranny in the car. But as I searched frantically.....there was not ONE single solitary napkin to be found.....!!! The REVELATION??? Well, I realized then how often I had gone to drive-thru windows to or from my destination...and now that I don't, I have no napkins!!! Hey, I can live with that! The benefits are far greater!! Tell me yours.....and I know we've all had them....be they big or small....tell us what you have experienced....What did it REVEAL to yourself about YOU??? Nancy*

  12. Haven't gotten on the scale yet....was in PA for the holiday and feel really fat today!!! Did my 1 hour of weight training though. Could be bloated...had Black Bean Soup yesterday for dinner. Will get on eventually.....Hopefully my "behavior modification" class on Wednesday will help!!! N*
  13. ........I know "there's life after banding".....Guess I was so psyched NOT to eat these foods anymore, I lost my head! And I agree....I've been opting for the whole grain bread, brown rice, sweet potatoes, whole grain cereals and Pasta....instead of the white bread, rice, potatoes....it's a proven fact! We'll see how I do this weekend :-) N*
  14. Aftr reading all your replies, I don't feel so bad !!! Thanks everyone! I thought maybe I was going crazy for a minute there. (Don't rule that out just yet though! ) I've heard too what a lot of you have said; you have to eat what you can tolerate individually, and that's what I have been following. I am sure I'll get braver after a while. I see my Dietitian on December 1st for a 2-hour Behavior Modification class which will help alot. Will let you know if she has any other ideas.... Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!!! Hugsssss from, Nancy*

Can I really have granola bars when I have a problem with chicken??? Someone please tell me why I haven't heard about all this? Or is it just too soon for me? Maybe I have been so hung up with things I CAN'T have that I really don't know what I CAN have.....I need to read more! Thanks for the ideas! Nancy*

  20. Been doing weight training sessions to learn the basics and can recommend a few books which you can get at half.com or a book store outlet for pretty reasonable. They are: Strength Training for Beginners (which shows simple ones you can do at home), Idiot's Guide to Weight Training (not meant to be insulting or anything cuz I have it myself!), and Strength Training for Dummies. I also have Strong Women Stay Thin, and Strong Women Stay Young. And if you're bored with the treadmill, there's Walk Away the Pounds DVD or VHS. Pilates is good for stretching too. Also, for free.....check out these websites, they're awesome!!! http://www.altusathletic.com/muscle_default.asp http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwfit/strength.html http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html http://www.strongwomen.com/decision_tree.stm http://www.exrx.net/exercise.html Let me know how you do!!! You'll feel GRRRRRRRRRREAT!!!!!!! Nancy* __________________
