  1. Thank you for the kind thoughts Emma! Hang in there! We will make the journey around the same time. With the liquid diet if your surgeon allows it - Soup from a Chinese restaurant is amazing after 8+ days of just Protein drinks. hehe. :confused1: Make sure to strain it, some restaurants will do it for you. Wishing you the best possible! Papillon
  2. Glad to hear you are doing well! Hang in there!! I will be joining you on the bench in less than a week. :thumbup1:
  3. WOW!! That is amazing! Congratulations on such great results, all of your hard work is paying off in spades!!! :thumbup1: You look so much happier!
  4. Day 9: Not so bad... When I am at work I tend to do better because I am distracted with things to do haha. I can't believe the surgery is less than a week away. The liquid diet hasn't be unbearable... it sucks, but I have been true to the wishes of my surgeon. We found out that you can have Soup if you strain it. This has made it possible to get through the day knowing I have something to eat at home that is not a Protein shake. PF Changs soup is great! :thumbup1: So going to get some tonight on the way home. I really need to stay positive... My voice teacher means well but she got me all freaked out this afternoon and I just had to take a moment to breathe. She is worried about me and I know that means she cares. I just don't want to freak out about voice loss... I can't add that to everything else I am feeling. I am a singer and the potential changes will be hard to handle but I am also excited about the physical changes. There has to be a middle ground between nothing changing and OMG what did you do.. hahah I do not want this to be an emotional choice, I want it to be a logical choice. I have done my research and I believe in my surgeon. He advised me that this surgery should not affect my voice and I believe him. I have also talked to several people who have had similar surgeries and they have not noticed a huge change. The most I heard about was some breathing changes after surgery that required 2-3months to Iron out. The rest of my life is worth 2-3 additional months of working on my voice. I am taking classes so I will have people to help me through. Thanks for listening.
  5. Congratulations!! Glad to hear everything is going great for you! :thumbup1:
  6. Hi Emma! Welcome to the boards. I understand how you feel. I get more antsy the closer to surgery I am but, in the end I refuse to let the fear keep me from taking this next step to a healthier me. There are so many wonderful memories I want to build with my husband and this surgery will help us!! We are both scheduled on the 13th. I will keep you in my thoughts, please do the same for us!
  7. very sad... there was a sweet lady who used to work here and I would see her coming in to work each day. She had to stop and rest several times to get to her office. (she was a large woman on a tiny frame) My heart really went out to her and I was very sad to hear that she passed away due to complications with her heart and weight. This surgery is scary sometimes but not doing anything scares me far more.
  8. Very good!!! Love this yogurt!! Costco has them in blueberry, peach, and strawberry.
  9. HAhah I feel your pain!! I was very embarrassed at the Upper GI ho-down haha. Luckily I was able to wear scrubs but they had this very small step thing that i had to stand on and I was thinking.. "Seriously, have you seen what I am packing in my caboose area?" ROFL... the worst part was drinking that stuff. After fasting all morning I ended up telling the guy.. "If you want to do this test we better do it now... if you make me drink anymore it will end up in that trash can" hahah Luckily the process went along smoothly, I brought a book so I was able to read while waiting for things to move along haha.
  10. I decided to chuck the BMI out the window and only use it as a remote guide. I am a very tall woman (6 feet) and not small build. If I went down to 155 I would look like I was ill. I have seen people get into the weight loss craze to the point of making themselves sick... I definitely do not want to be in that boat. I want to be healty! So I am going to try 185 and see how I feel, once i get there.
  11. Glad to hear you are feeling better each day!! Sorry to hear you have had some discomfort in your throat... sending you hugs!
  12. Awesome!! Sounds like a great husband to me! Glad that you were able to talk things through and he is supportive.
  13. Last night I bought some vegetable beef soup and just strained everything out of it. It was nice to have something besides protein drinks. I am getting pretty burnt on them. I am on the 3rd day of the 2 week pre-op diet. Glad to hear you are feeling better. :001_smile:
  14. I am on day three of the liquid pre-op diet and one of my coworkers gave me a candy cane herbal tea bag from celestial seasonings. It was wonderful and made my stomach feel better. Just thought I would pass along this info on the off chance it will help someone else too. :001_smile:
  15. Heck yea I will join you.. : ) Make room on the bench! :001_smile:
  16. I am really getting excited now! 3 days on the liquid diet and today I actually felt more like my old self hehe laughing and silly. :001_smile: On a side note peppermint tea is a godsend. My stomach was rumbling like a mad thing until I had some. Just thought I would pass that on. September 13th is the date for my husband and I!! We are doing this together and I am so glad to have his support and vice versa. lol
  17. Definitely troll the boards here.. you will see you are not alone. Everyone feels worried about their choice and thinks about it twice or twelve hundred times before doing the surgery hehe. All I can say is RESEARCH and more research. The more I read about the procedure and followed people on their individual journies, the more I realized this is the step I want to take. Am I scared? Damn right, but I am not willing to continue in the same patterns that have made up my life until now. Day 3 of the liquid diet and I was close to tears when a coworker brought in a chili dog but I refuse to give in. Raaar!:001_smile:
  18. I was having thoughts about not doing the surgery then I realized that I had been here before... I have done the jenny craig diet, the atkins diet.. you name it I have tried it. Everything works well for awhile.. but, then I fall back into my old habbits and I gain everything back and then some. So for me this is the extra kick in the ass that I need to get my life straigthened out. I want to live longer, happier, and healthier. I want to go on a hike with my husband. I am missing out on a lot of life and I am willing to do this surgery and completely change my life to have one again. The hard times do not last forever... i can and will do this!
  19. That must feel great!! I am going to keep reminding myself why I am doing this... and I really appreciate your posts! They give me courage! I have been focusing on the wrong things heheh there is a benefit to the surgery too.. haha Yes pics are a must! : D
  20. Well day 3 and I felling better today!! I am actually in good spirits! Thank you for all of the kind words and support! You guys made my morning. I am really happy that my boss asked everyone to keep food out of the office... for lunch he asked everyone to eat elsewhere. I really appreciate it ... I am fine until I smell food then my body rebels and wants me to tackle the person with it and run off.. hahah now that would make an interesting story on the news tonight ahah. "Crazed woman tackles customer at taco bell and runs off with burrito screaming "my precious" Hahhahaha :thumbup1:
  21. sending you a hug *squish* hang in there!! If all of these wonderful people on the board can do this, you can too!! I am cheering for you! :001_tongue:
  22. Congrats!! We are sleeve sisters! My date is the 13th too. :001_tongue:
  23. my husband made a really nice chicken broth for us last night in the croc pot. He added a few mushrooms and celery and carrots to give it more flavor. Some nice spices and put it on low all day. It was a nice change when we got home to have something warm. :001_tongue:
  24. no pudding... has to be all clears.. ugh.. I am hanging in. Today I just feel really awful. on a happy note today is more than half over... :001_tongue:
  25. my husband was the one who first started researching WLS... I was not sure about it. I went to an information session with him and the rest is history.
