    Will I look OLD?

I do like this thread because I have always thought the same thing. I see people who have lost large amounts of weight and to me they do look older. When I talk to people about it, they don't see it the same way I do and say people always look younger. I am 47 and have lost 95 pounds. I like the way I look in the mirror, but I do have more wrinkles and i have no doubt I look older. I don't think I look older than I am, I just look my age. On the other hand, when I talk to other people about it they say, "you don't look older." Even my husband says that and he is usually honest with me, but who else is honestly going to say ,"I think you look older." Right now I am trying to decide whether to lose another 15 pounds and have a few more wrinkles and look a little older, or stay where I am.
  3. I am only 3 weeks out, but I was wondering has anyone on this board acutally gotten insurance to pay for their plastic surgery. I know I am going to need a tummy tuck and a boob lift. I was self pay for the surgery but I have heard and read that if you go to the doctor and have it doumentated for rashes that they might pay. I was just wondering if anyone has actual experience with that working. If so I am going to start making appointments with my primary care doctor know because it is always a problem.

I like this crustless spinach quiche: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/spinach-quiche-2/Detail.aspx This is not from all recipes but it is a great pumkin soup. http://www.food.com/recipe/Low-Carb-Pumpkin-Sausage-Soup-106467
  6. 46 when I had it done. (47 now). Agree with everyone, would have done it 20 years ago if I could.
  7. I didn't have any preop diet either. I decided for myself to do 2 weeks of low carb before just to avoid the sugar/carb withdrawal after the surgery. I did have to do liquids the day before surgery. It all worked out fine.

    kinda gotta lie!?!?!?

I told my husband, kids and boss before the surgery. I didn't tell my parents because they are hypochondiacs (literally) and I would have to deal with them calling me every day thinking I was going to die. I thought I would tell them afterwards when they saw how little I ate or how much weight I lost, but every time I saw them, they didn't really notice so I just never told them. I can't tell my sisters because they will tell my parents. I told my brother and he begged me not to tell my parents because he lives close to them and he would have to hear every day how they were worried I was going to die. Most everyone else I know now knows. I figure at some point if the opportunnity pressents itself, I will probably tell them, but I really don't feel bad at all for keeping the secret. It was for me only and has made my life so much better. The only person I would feel bad about not telling is someone who could benefit from the sleeve and I didn't share how well it works.

    WHY ME???

I have to agree with Tiffykins, the more you can stay away from bread and other carbs the better. I never thre up anything, but by 9 months out, I could eat a lot of carbs just because I let them crepe in. I can only eat about 6 ounces of meat and veggies at a sitting, but I can eat double or triple that in carbs. I backed up and took most carbs out and am eating mostly meats and vegetables and now I feel full all the time again and don't want that stuff any more.

    Hair Loss

I had a problem with hair loss too. When the Dr. checked my Protein levels he said they were great, that sometimes it just happens due to the stress to your body when losing so much weight. Luckily too I have lots of hair and most people probably didn't even notice. It started at 3 months or a little before and stopped at 9 months. It is coming back really well now. I think it is pretty rare with the sleeve though so you probably won't have that problem.

How much was your self pay?

In Victoria, Texas is was $13,500 for everything. That was 10 months ago.

    major itchy incision sites!!!

I am glad to see others have had this problem. When I had this 10 months ago, the doctors couldn't figure out why and no one else on this board had had this problem either. It got a lot better when I removed the steri strips. I am allergic to the adhesive on the tape they use so I assume the same adhesive may be used on the steri strips.

    REGRET

I remember on the second or third day after surgery I wondered what the heck I had just done but by the next day it was better and I have never looked back or regreted it for 1 moment since. I was a cash pay and it has been worth every penny. I have so much more energy. I've gone from a size 20W to a 10. It's really been a great journey.

''I am sorry, I haven't been on the forum in a while and didn't see your post. I had my sleeve done with Dr. McDaniel in March with no problems. Have you had your surgery done yet?
  17. I have to agree with everyone else, I am 7 months out and I haven't found anything I can't eat. I haven't tried sodas and I don't plan to either.

    Torani Sugar Free Syrups

I get mine at World Market. They are a little higher but no shipping and sometimes they put them on sale. They are good for snowcones too.
  19. I am seeing more and more hair when I wash my hair or run my fingers through it. I don't see big clumps of hair but it is still noticeable. I am just wondering if this means I should just face the fact that I am going to be one of the ones who has problems with hairloss, or can you have just a slight hair loss?
  20. Thanks everyone for your replies. I am only 3 months out and I just thought that was a little early to see hair loss.

    Howdy everyone!

Hi Lori! I am going to be up your way this weekend as my niece is graduating from UNT! My brother went to Texas State and we spend a lot of time in the area since my parents live in Seguin. Congratulations on making the decision to do this as a young age. I sure with this was available in my 20s. I know you are going to do great. I have since a lot of complementary posts about your doctor. I considered using him myself, but ended up choosing on closer to my area.
  24. Wannalise - I'm with you. Coke was one of my addictions before. I gave it up months before the surgery because I didn't want to fight that one along with everything else. I think I am better off never having one again. Besides I already have such a tough time getting my Water in that any other liquid will just make that worse.

    Ugh...

I had a problem with a fever on the day I can home. Dr. said don't worry until it goes over 101.5. By day 4 it was gone and I felt 1000 times better. I didn't even get in 2 ounces of Water on day 1 and 2 so I think you are doing great. By day 4 things were so much better.
