Day 3
I was very happy with Dr. Mcdaniel and his staff. His PA is great. I really can't say anything bad about the whole situation. The hospital is very nice and they really know what they are doing. There is a support group that meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at a church on Holly. You should come. I went the first time before I had my sleeve and it was very informative. Most of the people in the group are Gatric bypass patients, but their are a couple of us sleevers and I think as time goes by there will be more and more of us.

wish you hadn't done it?
I am almost 3 weeks out and I felt so nervous just like you. The first 3 days were rough for me and I wondered what had I done to myself, but from day 4 on I have felt great. I'm not missing any of the foods I have given up and this is a breeze!

Day 3
Day 3 was the hardest for me too. I was running a fever and I thought "what did I just do to my body", but day 4 was so much better! My husband said,"You seem like a whole different person today" and every day since then has been better and better.

Post Op Protein Question???
I liked to Isopure Dutch Chocolate before and I still like it now. I guess my tastes are weird because I see so many people complaining about the Isopure.

Anybody get a rash
Yeah I am allergic to the surgical tape too, but I told them so they used different tape. I called the doctor and he said this was not something they had ever run across. He said to take off the steri strips on my incisions. I did that a couple of days ago and I still have the rash. I still don't know what it is from but they did say I could take benedryl so I am going to try that this weekend and see if it helps.

Anybody get a rash
Thanks Deedee. It definitley itches, and I didn't notice it until the last 2 days.

Anybody get a rash
I am 9 days post op today and my adbomen started itching like crazy I thought it was just the incision sites, but when I looked my whole stomach is covered with red hive like bumps. Any ideas what it could be and would you call your PCP or your surgeon? I am taking bariatic chewable Vitamins twice a day and Zantac twice a day but otherwise have not eaten anything I didn't eat before. I am on full liquids.

Should he be able to drink this much?
Thanks everyone for your replies. I saw so many people that said that they weren't able to drink as much and I was really worried. I am going to try sipping though.

Should he be able to drink this much?
I am 7 days out and on full liquids. I am able to do 2 ounces of "calorie" liquids per hour along with the 2 ounces of Water or water or water substitutes, but I can just keep on drinking water all the time and have no problem with getting full or vomitting. I am worried there is something wrong or that I am messing up my sleeve

What did you bring with you to the hospital?
I took very little also. Just loose clothes and flip flops for the way home, a toothbrush, toothpast and chapstick. Never got out of the hospital gown and socks until I got dressed to go home.

Just got sleeved
Glad you are doing better. I didn't have a drain, I don't know why. I ran a fever last night, but I never went over the 100.5 that they tell you to call the doctor at. Today my temp is fine and I am trying to get all my fluids in. I am still not anywhere near the 70 ounces they say. I may get to 30 or 40 by the end of the day.

Less than 24 Hours
They did leak test me yesterday and everything was fine. My doctor said he is going to use his video of my sleeve as his training video because my sleeve was nice. :tongue_smilie:

Just got sleeved
We were on the same day! and my second day was pretty bad too. I didn't have too much nausea, but everytime I said I was, they gave me a shot. I didn't take in much at all. Today is so much better. I hope you feel better too.

Less than 24 Hours
Thanks Lee that is good to know. I was feeling pretty bad because I just couldn't get those fluids in like they wanted. I was so sure last night that I was going to end up back in the hospital with dehydration. I never threw up, I just felt like I was full and that I couldn't eat anything. The nurse said that it just happens sometimes because your stomach is inflamed so it always has that full feeling. Today I am doing so much better.

Less than 24 Hours
Thanks everyone, I am back home now. The hospital where I had my sleeve done is about 2 hours away from my house. It is in a smaller town about half way between Houston and Victoria. Since they do so many out of town surgeries, they have it worked out with the hospital to let you check in at midnight and get settled while they come in and get all the preop done. It is really a nice set up. I can't lie, the first 2 days were really hard. I won't say the paid in unbearable, but I probably didn't take in more than 2 ounces of liquids the first day and maybe 4 ounces yesterday. Today however, I have already gotten 4 ounces down in just on hour so I can see I am getting better. Ran a low fever yesterday so I was gettting worried, but am down to 98.3 today, so much better. Thanks to everyone who posted their support!

Less than 24 Hours
My surgery is less than 24 hours away! I check into the hospital at 12:15 tonight and my surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I am a little nervous, not about the surgery or long term problems, but mostly about how much will it hurt right after surgery and in the next few days. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago (it was not laproscopic) and I don't really remember too much pain afterwards. I'm hoping for that, but expecting it will be a lot more painful.

March 2010 Surgeries
I got some of the chocolate Isopure protien powder and it is not bad. I am only using 1 scoop because there are 20 grams of protien in 1 scoup so that should be enough for a meal. Right now I am mixing with heavy cream and water, but I will use fat free milk after the surgery while I am in the full liquids stage.

Another Newbie...Surgery Scheduled

2 weeks to go
This weekend I started getting nervous and depressed thinking about what I'm not going to be able to eat. I talked to my husband about it and then I felt better. What about you?

March 2010 Surgeries
I ordered a bunch of the protien samples last night and I think I am going to go to Vitamin shop today to see what they have. There is a thread posted over in the diet and nutrition section that has a pdf of one doctors instructions for eating post op. I found it very informative since I don't see the nutritionist until this Friday and wanted to get ready.

2 weeks to go
My surgery is scheduled 2 weeks from Monday. I am doing good on my preop diet. Dr. said I didn't have to, but I decided to do low carb to get over the carb withdrawal. Told my daughter this weekend while she was home from college. Didn't seem to bother her. She just asked a few questions. I guess at that age they are really more concerned about what is going on in their circle. My boss is the one who is having problems accepting this. He tried to talk me out of this everyday. I just keep telling him that he might be right but I am not changing my mind. At least I only have to listen to it for 2 more weeks. He is not doing it out of meaness, he is really worried, but I can't convince him that it will be alright. My husband on the other hand is very supportive about the surgery.

Greek Yogurt veggie dip
Thanks Tiffykins, I am starting a recipe book for after my surgery and this is the first recipe I am putting in it.

March 2010 Surgeries
Just bumping to see how you're doing? You only have a week to your surgery. How Exciting. I am plugging along with low carb, but I am very hungry. I don't think it is real hunger, but just boredom from eating the same foods over and over and no sweets.

Pre Op Store List?
Lynda - you are 2 days after me. Thanks for posting this question. I see the dietician this Friday and I don't know if they'll tell me then what I can eat or not until my preop appointment on Friday the 5th. Are you having your procedure in Houston and what Dr. are you using? I got a little sad yesterday and today about what I am giving up, but talked to my husband and he made me feel better about what it is all for.

Monday Morning Weigh In
I haven't had my sleeve yet, but i have lost 4 pounds this week doing low carb getting ready for my surgery. I'm not trying to lose too much prior to surgery, more trying to get used to low carb.
