I was sleeved on June 18, 2012, and as of today I'm down 100 lbs! I still can't believe it's me in the mirror! My favorite benefit of this surgery is that my husband can't keep his hands off of me! I am so grateful that I had this surgery, and would do it again in a heartbeat! The first 2 pics are today, Dec 12, 234 lbs, the last 3 are from Feb & May 2012, 334.9 lbs. I still have 57 lbs till I get to goal, and I have no doubt that I will make it!

I am over the moon! I have PCOS, and have struggled with infertility for years. I have an almost 6 year old daughter, and tried unsuccessfully for 2 years to have another child, before having my VSG surgery. I was one year post op 8/24/12, and I just found out today that I am pregnant! This was the first month we tried since my surgery, and I was only on 50 mg a day of clomid (I have been on up to 300 mg a day in the past). I have no words for how ecstatic, and terrified, I am. Please keep me in your prayers, and I will do the same for all of you!

I'm so glad I made the decision to have the gastric sleeve surgery. What a life changing experience. I'm still single but that's the least of my worries. I fit in any booth, any chair, from 26 jeans to a 14/16. Shoe size from a 10 to a 9 my foot looks cute and skinny. Size 11 ring to a 9. I finally rode on an airplane and didnt need any extension. I'm sooooo happy people. I'm living life now

It is almost four months to the day that I had my surgery. I weighed 397. Today I weigh 297. After 20 years over 300 pounds, I am finally in the 200's, I am so, so thankful that I jumped through all the hoops (and there were so many), had the surgery, and am where I am today. At times I didn't think I would make it. I got denied over and over again by my insurance company. Give us 3 more months of attempted weight loss. Give us 3 more months. Try again. And again. And I did - and I kept at it - and FINALLY I got the ok.
I am so grateful to my regular doctor who kept encouraging me and writing letters to the insurance company for me. I'm also thankful that I found a really good surgeon - someone I trust.
A week from today I will walk a 5K in Chicago for Diabetes. I have personally raised $1000.00. My story has inspired my friends. My weight loss has touched the hearts of people who saw me struggle for energy, breath and movement at 397. How cool is that!!!! And me, walking 3.2 miles! Are you KIDDING!!!! I could barely walk from my driveway to my front door. I now park as far away as possible, Seriously?
My goal is 200 pounds - so I have a long, long road ahead of me. I need you guys to walk this journey with me. I read your posts daily and they inspire me - and kick my butt at times. This is not an easy journey. Losing weight has not miraculously healed all the pieces of my life. What it has done - what the surgery did - was give me hope that I have a future and I can actually show up for it. I was dying - and now I have a fighting chance for another 20 years of life. So humbling. So amazing.
For those of you with 100+ pounds left to reach your goal – I am here to cheer you on! We can do this together. Don’t go it alone!!! I am praying for you – and I could certainly use your prayers. Learning to care for ourselves is a new muscle we must exercise. Let’s do it together!!!
God bless you - my sleeve friends! Big hug from Chicago!!!!

I was 401 on May 1st. 5 months later I'm 268 and falling. No problems whatsoever. Follow your surgeons preop and post op plan to the letter and you will be fine. Start exercising now. Don't wait. Start drinking Protein shakes now and learn to love them. Too many people wait till after surgery, or right before. But sometimes they can be an acquired taste and they take some getting used to. And take a real hard look at yourself. Recognize your food addictions and make a plan for dealing with them. Most of us who are that heavy have certain foods and/or situations that make us vulnerable to eat too much of the wrong things. Surgery will not stop this. Recognize those things and start making the changes to eliminate them.
Having more than 200 pounds to lose should not be a problem. Drink lots of Water, eat lots of Protein and exercise and you will be successful.

Of course over the last year I know I've lost a lot of weight. I've watched the scale go down and I've had to replace clothes more often then I care to think about ($$$$)... But it took doing this collage to realize that I am living my dream! I am happy and healthier than I have ever been. I'm marrying the man of my dreams and family members I dearly care about have decided to seek surgical options for weight loss after watching my struggles and finanlly my success.

I'm slightly over 9 months out, and losing 1-2 lbs/week with about 1200 calories/75g+ Protein. My carbs have gone up to the 65-80 range and my fat is generally below 50 per day (but sometimes a bit higher). I exercise but not religiously, and I'm very happy with the pace of my weight loss.

Hey everyone, I found a old picture today and wanted to show the progress I have made so far. The first picture is from 4 years ago (I dont know how much I weighed in it) and the second is from this past Saturday. My highest weight was 360lbs, day of surgery I was 338lbs and I am currently 237lbs, I have been in ANOTHER stall which seems like FOREVER but I hope I will be able to get down to my goal weight.

The other is before I started my surgery journey I was 670.
The other is at 602 - a month out.
Honestly, I don't see much difference myself... but I feel quite a bit better. The next hundred will be the best!

Sweeta reacted to Lisa :) in 9 Months Out....before & After Pics
I hit the 9 month mark last week and a friend sent me a picture she took of me after our morning run. It was so weird...I kept looking at the picture, thinking, "I almost look normal!!!"
This journey has been so amazing!! It hasn't been easy but it's been totally worth it!!! For more than 10 years I pondered the idea of WLS. I told myself over and over again that I "should be able to take the weight off on my own". I was one of those people that thought having surgery would be a cop out. I could not have been more wrong!! The initial stages of post op were torturous for me. I remember feeling like I was going crazy at about the 3 week mark. I just wanted to chew something and I wanted to kill my family!! LOL!! I had to mourn my love affair with food...probably the hardest thing ever.
Now that I'm past all that, I am here to say that my life is 1000 times improved and the NSV's are endless!! I can fit into a booth at any restaurant now!! I've stopped snoring and no longer have to wear a mouth guard in order for my partner to sleep!! I've completed a triathlon and am doing 2 more in the next 3 weeks!! My plantar faciitis is gone!! I can walk up a flight of stairs and I like it!! Shopping for clothes is fun again!! But the biggest NSV is that I finally feel like I have a "normal" relationship with food!! It no longer controls my life...I no longer live to eat, I eat to live.
So, here are my pics. The first one is from a cruise I went on in Nov 2010...I was at my heaviest weight and I was so uncomfortable!! In November of this year I'll be going on another cruise and I'll be exactly 1 year post op. I'm looking forward to taking the same picture!!

Dr. Ponce was my surgeon and Trish was my coordinator. They are all Awesome! I was nervous at first but they made me feel so comfortable being the fact i am shy and went alone. Trish made sure she called my mother and husband as soon as it was over to let them know what was goin on. As far as the INT it was clean they made sure i had a fresh grown for the front and back before i showered and clean the room atleast 2x a day. Congrats! i'm happy for you.
