  1. congrat's on surviving your first fill. just remember you do have some restriction. chew your food carefully and sip that Fluid. eating will be different. good luck
  2. we all have done what you did. believe it or not i gulped Water and whammo pain. it swelled me up and for the rest of the day i couldn't even get water down. but i still got a fill about 2 weeks later. just make sure before you leave the office after a fill that you sip on water.
  3. i love salads too. but i waited until i was on solids. i can eat them now without any trouble.
  4. i actually had a 2 part study. the first part was the sleep apnea test. i ended up with a cpap and had the best night sleep. the second part was a day time study to see if i had narcolepsy. meaning falling asleep during the day out of no where. driving is the worst. i was positive for that test too. but the drugs ritalin. i hated that drug made me have anxiety attacks.
  5. nectar and click and chick. okay i use amazon.com because they are cheaper there and i love coffee and chocolate. but nectar has a whole line of Protein drinks.
  6. it is not uncommon for post surg. , before the first fill to feel hungry. your post seems very normal for all of us. of course check with your doctor but on most days i don't need a Protein drink. i get enough protein from food. i use the drinks if i am not at my grams of protein for the day, or if i am really hungry at night and need something for that hunger. my doctor doesn't want Protein Drinks as replacement meal. although i admit sometimes in the morning its all i can do is get a Protein Drink down. ask your doctor what they would like you to do.
  7. they check your blood count, rbc and wbc and clotting time etc. to make sure you are safe for surgery.
  8. mushies and pureed are the same. tuna fish is high in Protein, so is chicken. you can use blenders to just about puree any foods. of course Protein drinks and mix with fat free milk for added protein. just keep track of calories. some foods are very high in calories, fats and carbs. keep a log so you are getting min. of 60 or what your dr. has instructed. my mushy time it was 80 of protein and i haven't had a problem with losing hair. good luck. enjoy your food and choose variety over boredom
  9. i eat popcorn every sat. night. it's my indulgent. i even use real melted butter. i have never had a problem getting stuck. but everyone is different . so eat 1 and chew as normal and see. hope you can because i feel the same way about popcorn movie as you do.
  10. this is great. congrat's. and when the clothes get loose you will be even stronger. proud of you
  11. i know we had this topic not to long ago but....my mother had a massive heart attack and was in the hospital since the morning of the 9th. she passed away this morning. during my time at the hospital and i was there 24/7 i really missed all of you. but with that in mind, and that recent topic we all discussed i kept my diet in check using the cafeteria. (it can be done) and taking frequent walks around the hospital and parking lots. i lost 4 lbs. i know this isn't something that i should even be thinking about but my mom knew how important all of this was to me. she would have been proud. so when something stressful happens in your life, listen to your band.
  12. i too am a newbie and i appreciate all the advice any members give me. i take some of it to the doctor for her take on it or i use it right than and there. that's what is so special about this site. all the experience we are getting for free is amazing. thanks to everyone.
  13. i am only 5 months out and still trying to reach the green spot. but you have come to the right place. as soon as everyone figures this new site out, we have moved from lapbandtalk, you will get a lot of advice. with any weight loss when you plateau you need to count your calories versus your exercise. exercise calories need to be more than food calories for your scale to move. perhaps you need a fill? good luck
  14. i went to the ticker area and it was all computer talk. perhaps they are still working bringing everything up
  15. yesterday i got my order of miracle noodles. i made some spinach ones. i used i cant believe its butter spray and lots of garlic, chives salt and pepper and 1 tablespoon of parm cheese. it was so good. it was a great side dish to my chicken. in a whole bag of noodles there is only 30 cal.,0fat,4gcarb and 2g of Protein. now if you are picky you won't like these but i absolutly loved it.
  16. it was nice to see a new topic from a name i know. i hate new things but i will get used to it. so hi, hope everyone finds this
  17. good for you. biking seems like a good way to exercise. good for your dog too! i am having trouble with this site too. but like anything new we will learn how to use it
  18. amazon is the way to go. all the Protein drinks are available there plus Vitamins and Snacks etc. i only buy amazon now.
  19. i am so sorry. when my surgery kept getting delayed i would leave the office in tears. we get so psych'd up for our appointments . i am sorry that you have to wait longer, it's hard.
  20. I too had a allergic reaction to the steri strips. all of my incisions and i had a lot of them. (i went in for a gastric bypass) so more incisions were made to try and make it happen. but i am now glad i have the band. God was watching me that day. anyways. i got so red and itchy from the steri strips and the benedine antiseptic they use to clean your abd. that i was just miserable. i used plain old soap and water on a washrag and carefully removed all the orange antiseptic and than i sprayed benedryl all over my abd. oh it felt so good. but it really helped to get the orange stuff off.
  21. glad everything went well. take care and don't be to hard on yourself. best wishes
  22. i talked to my pcp who gave me my surgeons name. than i called the office and was set up for a seminar. at the seminar not only do i learn about the 3 different surgeries available but my insurance info was taken and verified, and this is the big part. i also checked the internet to try and find a place closer to my home. i went to their seminar too! but i chose the doctor that seemed to really take all my medical problems into consideration. he made me check each and every one of them out and get a clearance. i liked this approached instead of see a nutritionlist see our psychologist and we will have at it. lol , so start with your pcp and go from there. or just check the internet. good luck
  23. when i started on the road to surgery i had so many health issues blocking my way that i felt very disjointed from the surgery team. but as my health issues resolved and i started the psych eval. and nutritionist eval. i felt a bit more a part of the process. talking with the lead intake member he started to call me every other day making sure i was getting all the different labs and xrays etc. together. my pcp than made his report and had all the stuff needed by the surgeon. and than and only than did i begin to feel like i was having the surgery. i started on 9/11 and had surgery on 5/29/13. good luck to you
  24. the nearest support group is over 2 hours away from me, so finding all of you on this site has been a God send. i have my doctor's but i learn a lot here and am able to go to my doctors and ask a lot of questions because all of you are educating me. so a big THANKS
  25. So really sorry you are having a rough time. while i was reading your letter i was ready for you to say you gained all your weight back. you gained 22 lbs. it would be very hard to plan and execute that plan while dealing with all you are. the only advice i can give you is that you being unhealthy will not help anyone. they all need you to be healthy have energy and be strong. a tough order i know. perhaps dealing properly with your band will help you be strong because you will be feeling good about yourself. choose food wisely and when you can't, eat in moderation. God Bless you and your family.
