Back pain- what helps?
agree with missy, if you take anything like beano etc. you might be masking a more serious problem. because the pain is new it screams "talk it over with your doctor"

What restrictions at 3cc
it depends on your band size. ask your doctor what size is your band. but getting to the green zone is a very much individualized area. you and your doctor will work this out together. even if you are not feeling full just remember a cup full of food is all you should eat 3 times a day.

3rd day rough day...
you have got to remember you had major surgery. pain is commonplace. take your pain medication and if the doctor didn't prescribe enough call the office and get more. be assertive. rest and give yourself a break. just walking can jiggle stuff. but walking is good. not fast pace but slow and steady. rest as much as you can. use ice for comfort. i also liked a hot shower and than i would ice it. cold drinks can also help with swelling. be kind to yourself it is the most important thing you can do. if there is increased swelling, redness or fever you need to contact your doctor immediatly. i feel for you and you will get through these first days i promise

Seen Dark floating dots
you really need to get to a optometrist. my mom had dark floating dots and it turned out her retina had a bleed. or it could be nothing. you won't know until you have it checked out. i wish u well

soooo hungry. only day 2 of pre-op diet
one more suggestion. you will be using protein drinks after surgery. buy them on amazon.com. it is cheaper. they have a product called nectar. it is really good tasting protein. i wish you lots of luck. continue to use us.

soooo hungry. only day 2 of pre-op diet
i use the unjury vanilla flavor with crystal light flavor packet. mix with water. are you on a weight loss diet prior to surgery because the doctor wants you to lose a certain amount of weight? if so try cutting out all carbs but eating protein and vegetables and fruit. watch how much you eat but eat normal food.

surgery DONE port is killing me...
it is a common problem this soon after surgery. ice has helped some. also don't forget to take your pain pills you still need them. if you are worried about infection the signs of infection is fever, redness and increased swelling. if you are scared, call your surgeon. you will feel better soon. wish you well

TMI: Chaffing??
i found that solarcaine spray works really well, and corn starch.

Upper leg soreness where the leg meets the groin area
it maybe sore from how they move you after surgery and you are still under. sometimes muscles become sore if you weren't moved easily. if the sight becomes red and more painful than you really need to get into your doctor. perhaps your primary care doctor.

Chocolate!
okay, i don't recommend this and don't do it myself. but........baker's chocolate is 1/2 the sugar than regular chocolate and less fat. it might just be a answer if you can't say no to candy bars. it melts down easily ..add some nuts to it and drop teaspoon fulls on a baking sheet and cool. put in your refrig. and indulge on 1 piece once in awhile. it shouldn't interfer with your weight loss program. i learned about this when i tried the south beach diet.

Need to start over...
i cook the pods in the microwave, put salt on them and sometimes i cant believe its butter and just squeeze the pod and enjoy. you can also buy a dried version of them. good protein source without many cal.

Confused???
a lot of ppl have a time of adjustment after surgery where they might gain a few pounds or not lose anything. if you are only eating 900 cal. a day you will begin to see weight come off.
-
Need to start over...
my doctor just told me not to eat anything leftover. she said that so many ppl have trouble with leftover food. it does sound like everything you ate was dry. sometimes it feels as if we are hungry and it sounds like it too but fluids might be a better option. have a protein drink in between meals if you are hungry. my doctor also gave me permission to eat things like kale chips, edamane, vegetable chips when i want a snack. i am a salt not sweet craver. perhaps a nutritionist would be helpful for you. good luck

What do you order at restaurants after weight loss surgery?
i order grilled anything. i restrict carbs but will eat a 1/2 of grilled chicken sandwich with no mayo but i do pay very close attention to my band telling me i'm full. i believe that we all should be following a low fat, sugar free, low cal. diet. most restaurants will adapt to what you ask for.

Scared and need advice
if this happens again walking is a great cure. it helps by gravity to get things going in the right direction.

Scale Intervention
i don't even get on the scale. i only care about the scale when i see my doctor once a month. that's the weight that is important. my scale at home and the doctor's scale don't even match up. if i go by my scale it just starts all the mind games for the day. i figure if i am following my band rules than the weight will come off. my doctor is happy with 5 lbs a month.

9days later
i am a newbie also but i have not had all the discomforts described by some. if i do, i know what i did wrong and try not to repeat. the one thing i have noticed is that ppl don't utilized their nutritionist or doctor when having a issue. they are your best recourse and have the expierence to deal with the different problems. good luck on your journey

pain at port....
i didn't have any complications from surgery. this doesn't sound normal to me. i think this requires a call to the doctor so they can determine if you have a infection

Forbidden Fruit...or meat, veggies, etc.
i know this is weird but i can't eat deli meats. it always make me spit up.
-
How do you handle being "full" but still wanting to eat?
i agree with shazam but i know if i eat more than what my lap band is telling me i might as well go to the bathroom and wait for the spit up as i call it. i take what i didnt eat and just throw it in the trash. i know in about 10 min's my brain will be satisfied and happy. it takes just a min. to throw it away and if you have to, put it in the garbage disp. don't save it . it will only make your brain go to it in the refrig. protein drinks are a great way to fill satisfied in between meals if you have to.

Diabetis and lap band
I had a lap band fill on mon. 9/30. was on liquid for 2 days and soft for 2 days. the first day of soft i had a low blood sugar reaction. a protein drink with milk stablized me but am scared it's going to repeat itself tonight when i take my insulin again. i need the insulin because my liver produces glucagon at night and my bs is high in morning. the question is, does anyone have a meal plan for evening while on soft diet to prevent another low bs. is low bs going to become a norm now? i am down from 200 units lantus a day to 30 u at night.

Protien Shakes
i go to amazon.com and purchase nectar products i also love, love chike coffee energy+protein. yum also click espresso . i don't like unjury because it does creepy things if you want a hot drink. if you think 180 cal. is okay and when on a liquid diet it maybe i suggest Betty Lou's. also a fabulous flavor.
