Chicharrones/Pork Rinds
I'd be concerned they would crunch down to nothing and not give you a full feeling. In other words, a potential slider food. Just something to be aware of and don't go overboard.

Homemade protein shake recipes?
Nobody? Oh well. I picked up a small jar of the Musashi with the 30g protein and 170 calories and it tastes fine to me if a bit thin. I will probably just stick to it and try to jazz it up with flavors or adding fruit sometimes.

Great Article On Low-Carb/high Fat Diets
I'm almost finished with GCBC finally. It is my goal to finish it in 2013. I feel like I am finally to the good part now and I am in the last 1/3!

Tried soft foods... Totally bummed
Lots of sauces or low fat gravy for things like ground beef and shredded chicken really helps. I don't think we realized how much we used to wash things down with water or other beverages if they were dry.

omg worst cravings..
For the Taco Bell cravings stir some taco seasoning and some taco sauce (not salsa -- no lumps) into chicken broth!

Do you order a plate of food?
We don't like the same things so we each order our own. I tend to choose something small and pack half of it up for later. Or I eat the best bits and leave the boring stuff.

The 5:2 Diet
Sorry for the confusion, feedyoureye. I have never attempted 5:2 (I'm not at a year out and I'm not having trouble losing yet). I was just responding to the feeling like a failure bit.

Almost Passout Everytime I stand
Low blood sugar is below 3 mmol/l. 5.8 is great if you are diabetic or have eaten recently, a tiny bit high if you aren't and you haven't eaten within two hours.

Almost Passout Everytime I stand
If it was that, it wouldn't be only when standing and it would likely be showing up in other ways such as general disorientation or irritability or lack of concentration. Much more likely low blood pressure due to lack of sodium in the diet and possibly low fluids too. Probably it will normalize with time.

Almost Passout Everytime I stand
Try having some salty food a couple times a day.

Can't "eat" enough
When you are on fluids, all fluids count as Water, even your Protein shakes and the liquid part of your runny oatmeal. You can have broth too and it counts as a liquid. Fluids are more important than protein at this point. You won't starve but you could well end up back at the hospital with dehydration. Sip just a tiny trickle of water several times in a row over 20 minutes and you will get down a cup. It is boring but you will get it done without much pain. If your chest hurts you are swallowing too much at once. Just enough to wet your tongue at first and work up. Hang in there. You will feel like a different person in just a few days.

2014 weight loss commercials.........bye bye!
I agree. I keep realizing I don't have to put "lose weight and exercise" on the resolution list this year. Of course I still have weight to lose and I will still exercise but I feel in control of it for once. I feel bad because I don't think those programs work for many people long-term. If they did they would go out of business. But what else can you do when you have 20 or less pounds to lose. I don't know what to recommend to people when they ask. Because I don't believe in the simple calories in/out equation anymore. The only thing I know is what worked for me: gain the weight of an extra person, try for 20 years to lose it, and finally succeed with bariatric surgery.

The 5:2 Diet
I don't know the answer but you shouldn't feel like a failure if it doesn't work for you. We got tricked for years by blaming ourselves instead of the diets. You can always speak to your doctor or set up a consult with a nutritionist to get advice. Not everyone on this site who is successful has done 5:2.

NSV lately?
I got told at Christmas that I was "hot" and "sexy" by several people. A little creepy and weird, but gratifying too. Also I feel mean but I really notice when people are bigger than me now. Lots of family members are! I think gaining weight has turned into the new normal and I am finally bucking the trend!

Staple foods for the liquid phase (phase 1)
Protein shakes (I used Optifast) Protein Soups, but I doctored them with Worcestershire and soy sauces and made them up with milk and stock instead of just Water. Make sure to dissolve the powder in a small amount of cold water first and don't heat the Soup over 140F to avoid lumpy protein chicken stock with vinegar and hot sauce (like hot&sour) fruit juice Popsicles coffee (I was allowed) Tea

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?
Gentle reminder that there are other places to talk about nutrition and diet plans. This one is about running! If you like, we can split those last few posts off into a new thread on a forum where they will get more attention and answers. As for running, I ran 6k this morning before it got hot, and I'm feeling great. The day is new and my run is finished. Don't you love that!?

I know. I was only asking because I assumed it was not intentional since all of the other ones have been segregated.

Symptoms of something?
Could be something to do with your vagus nerve. It is a huge nerve that runs along the spine. It controls a lot of things and is near the stomach. It can get irritated. It is why some people get hiccups or sneeze when they get too full post-op and it is why men throw up after being kicked in the testicles. It is also the thing that is actually sore when you get the gas pain in your shoulder. Your vagus nerve can refer pain there. Also you can get quite cold when losing weight rapidly, and the holidays are stressful and emotional. Keep an eye on how you are feeling and contact your surgeon if you feel strange. It's better to be safe than sorry.
