Guess who bashed my band. It was my primary doctor. She wanted me to be sleeved or have bypass. Why you say? Because none of her banded patients ever lost more than 40 lbs. Well I needed to lose at least 100 lbs. and I got banded anyway. I wanted less invasive and that's what I had. And guess what....I've lost 126 lbs. and....I am now smaller than the doctor. Sweeeet!!

I think people ask for advice because there is so much information out there and sometimes you just need extra thoughts and different reasons maybe you havent thought of or considered... which is why we see so many questions like which is better the band, sleeve, or bypass? I also think every person is entitled to their own choice and they have to choose whats right for them I personally am getting the bypass for my situation but I don't look down on the banders or sleevers or think any less of them just as I hope they wouldnt look down on me we are only human and we make the best choices we can great post!!! Im happy for you

The internet seems to bring out all of the Negative Nellies. Most people, (unless they follow a forum like us) don't think of posting success on the internet. Really, the band has to work the majority of the time and not have a huge complication rate or insurance companies would not be paying for it. They are all about the bottom line. Thankfully, smart people like you and me can read between the lines and not believe everything we watch or read. I figure the people who don't realize that, may be the people who wouldn't be very successful with WLS anyway. Good blog!

Good for you! I put everyone before me, my husband, my mother is 95 with dementia, my mIL is 90 and gave up driving and my 69 year brother is mentally challenged.
Today I told my husband he needed to drive me where I wanted and he cancelled his mother! We share 1 car.
Tomorrow I take my brother food shopping and for his check up, he has diabetes. That is at a Boston hospital and a real PIA!
Have a great holiday season and do something for you.

I'm SO glad your daughter is alright. My oldest son is in his first semester of college, and it's so scary to have them far away, so I can imagine how terrifying this must have been. Good for you for staying on track, even in such a scary situation!

Thanks for sharing your story. Your time on this Earth wasn't up and you are here for a reason so make it the best it can be. You deserve to be happy and to feel better.
How long have you been banded?
    Best wishes to you!

Thanks so much for this -- very inspirational. I really want to show up for my life and getting healthy is the key to so many doors opening in the future. For now the door opening for me is this process of getting the band. Like you I was not heavy enough (oh the irony!) and so many health issues mounting up. Now I am at the goal weight for qualifying for the surgery -- here's to being at the real goal weight -- that goal of optimal health. You are a rock star already because you're rocking this. I know early days are not easy but you have so got this. Have a great day!

You deserve to succeed and you will.
We need to take one day at a time and we will get there, however long it takes.
Lets look forward to our journey ahead

Hey stranger! This new site is crazy! Congrats on your good bye to size 20W. I'm down from a 26 to a 22W so I'm stoked too! It's an awesome feeling to see results in our bodies changing and not just the scale moving. I'm trying to move up my third fill to get some restriction for Thanksgiving... don't want to gain.
Hope things are going good for you. It sounds like they are!

I think all of us have that fear.. I saw a lady today @ Walmart with huge legs and she was barely able to walk to the electric cart.. she looked to be younger than me but Lord help her she was so sad looking.. I know I was headed for the electric cart myself ..could hardly make it through the store without leaning on the grocery cart... I thank God everyday that I decided to take charge of my health and got my band before it was too late... it's moments like these that make you say there by the Grace of God go I...

Very nice to hear you're alive and banded! I just read both of your blogs. Being banded made my health take a complete turn around for the better. I am off all my pre-band meds!

Hi there. Here's to Not Worrying -- just knowing that it is all happening. It's all happening. You are in the long game, the one that matters over time -- not the day to day or even month to month but what about one year ago and one year from now. What do those look like?
