Pleatman's Conversion Surgery
I read on another threat that a surgeon is offering to convert his bandsters to a new version of bypass. He also mentioned it in the "Ortiz" thread. Does anyone know what he's talking about? Is it a newer less evasive bypass? I'm at a standstill with my weight. To lose more I'd have to eat less but I'm so hungry the way I'm eating now. I just don't know if I can stand restricting calories much longer. I realize a bypass isn't even an option since I'm no longer "morbidly" obese so I don't know why I'm asking, but I'm really curious why a surgeon would want to convert from band to bypass. Anyone?

Ok...I lurked a bit...so I guess I should introduce myself...a newbie
"Don't let your husband or children do this to you. It not only affects you, but even more it sets a stage for how your sons will treat their wives. Stop this abuse now for your future daughter-in-laws sake if not your own." Some things are worth reading a second time. Or third, or fourth...

The WHY ARE MEN SO WEIRD thread.
HMGTKIFS (holding my gut to keep it from splitting) I don't know what's funnier, 30 tapes or the theme from The Exorcist at a Redrock wedding. OMG to the thought of either! Our first house had a massive game room with a 14 foot bar and was badly in need of pictures for the enormous bare walls. When I was at work, Chris called to say he had a suprise. When I pulled in the garage, he excitedly told me he decorated our living room. My darling husband purchased not only purchased but had profesionally framed and hung "posters" of Ozzie, Black Sabbath & Metallica. For my living room! I nearly lost my mind. Poor guy thinks like he's 15. Needless to say my head spun around till they were safely in the garage, where posters of Ozzie Osbourn belong!

My new ride!!
Wow, that's nicer than my bike! Chris has lots of injuries & bad pain (herniated discs, tendonitis, etc.) He's joking about trading in his bike for something snappy like that only he's gonna get flames painted with a matching helmut. I gotta send you a Harley decal for that bad girl!

Another Erosion
Dr. Kuri might be experienced, but he made a mistake that cost me 8 months of port infection. According to 3 other Mexican surgeons and 2 American band surgeons, it's "standard operating procedure" to tuck the tube of a removed port into the abdominal cavity for safe keeping till a new port is replaced. Dr. Kuri instead left the tube floating freely at the surface, which prevented my wound from healing or closing up. He knew better. Mistakes happen everywhere, but skipping over a standard operating procedure isn't something American surgeons are allowed to do.

Low Rise Jeans and Thong Panties
OMG, the underwear thread needs to come back to life! I'll see if I can bump it because we need to see Superwoman's Shorts on there! Karen, I sell lingerie so I see lots of new styles coming out. They're really doing a great job on plus size lingerie by creating interesting pieces that cover some stuff while flaunting others. Just keep looking and you'll find something that makes you sexy.

Calling The Band-Less: Hospital Stays for Band Removal
Hmm, it's all really fuzzy but I think I stayed 2 nights. I arrived 4 p.m. and was operated on late that night. I slept there 2 nights then was realeased around noon the 3rd day. Are you having your band removed, or is that a dumb question considering your thread? Have you eroded?

Donali, John's such a dork. I mean, if he's gonna do it, why go cassette when you he can go 8 Track? DOINK "Oh, and the damn nickel on a stick. If you have neither goat or monkey, but you DO own a welding torch... what better thing could there be to do?" Uh, like he can "do" the dishes instead of sticking them in the cupboard out of the non-working dishwasher with dried chunks of stuff in them. Or hell, he could do something about the broken dishwasher for example. Let's keep the animals out of this because I'm quite partial to goats and monkeys, and my husband is the one jealous of the dogs. He says he's sending them off to boarding school because I broke them. Spoiled? Nah. All dogs should be fork trained like my precious angels.

Nykee's after fill food log
I do really well during the day, but last night I screwed up again. I was only supposed to have 1/2 of a tuna salad (the enormous take-out kind with heaps of tuna salad, olives & shredded cheese.) But my husband also ordered pizza, so I had a slice. Soon I finished the entire salad plus 1.5 slices pizza. I wasn't stuffed, so I had my cup of pudding. Then I was stuffed, so I ate another big bowl of pudding. Then a couple hours later I felt so bad that I ate 2 handfuls of potato chips. I realize what I did wrong, but I lose willpower at night and eat past my caloric needs. I am not shocked or surprised that I still weigh almost 240 pounds. Letting go of the night time food drives me crazy.

Oh lord, my husband does this to be funny and sings real low while he does it: "helicopta, helicopta, helicopta" in a New York accent, it crack me up. OKAY, I REALLY GOTTA STOP CRYING AND WORK NOW! helicopta, helicopta! I can't wait to tell my Long Island hairdresser that one! Helicopta helicopta!

May I pig-out, please?
OMG, you guys are right. I swear, I'd feel like absolute dog poop the next day. Actually, dog poop ain't half as bad as I'd feel. Today is my hubby's birthday and he wants me to pick up his favorite Italian food. I was going to have chicken and vegetables, but maybe I better have lasagna before I crack up. I swear, I love you girls.
-
May I pig-out, please?
"work yourself through why you are suddenly feeling this way" I'm actually crying a little (fighting tears) because there are no emotions behind these cravings. These are for-real cravings. What the hell is going on. Please don't tell me I'm going through mentalpause (that's what hubby calls it.) Does menopause mean stupid friggen assbite cravings?

Proactive Band Removal?
Mari, that's an interesting response. What DOES restriction feel like to all you banded people? I totally felt mine squeezing. Then again, the four Mexican surgeons I know fill patients aggressively to the max (as much as you can tolerate) in one shot, while many of my US banded friends tell me their doctors ususally sneak up on restriction. Even though I only had two fills, both left me tight enough to feel a constant squeeze, like my belly was being pinched. *Editied for clarification.

Did Ya' Miss Me?????
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. ~~Albert Schweitzer Who was this guy? This is what I'm struggling with right now. Slumber Parties makes me happy. So why am I a paralegal?

Erosion Myths?what Have You Heard?
Donali, I took that quote to mean it's better to sneak up on restriction (the 2nd part of the sentence.) To me, squeezing the stomach shut all at once seems kinda risky, no?

This Is A Wake Up Call!

This Is A Wake Up Call!
May I suggest everyone mosey on over to the "Why are YOU Fat?" thread? When I was banded, I didn't understand why it was so easy for some people to follow the rules while my mind was going insane trying to control myself. Even though I was aware that I could slip my band or hurt myself, there were occasions that I'd eat till I was in terrible pain. I KNEW what I was doing but I couldn't stop myself. So I started a thread to find out where everyone was coming from. I just assumed everyone was like me, but we're all different. The actual feeling of "HUNGER" never mattered to me because I ate myself into drug-induced bliss regardless of what my stomach said. I never experienced what hunger felt like pre-band because I was always full. The band is an amazing tool as far as stopping hunger. My meals used to keep me full for hours, but it was sheer willpower (and restriction) keeping me from shoving more food in.
