  1. Gas - x didn't touch my shoulder pain but my heating pad was a godsend, I had it attached to me the whole time and I took a hot water bottle with me when I left the house!...I think by day 8 the shoulder pain had all but gone! Congrats on your banding and I hope the pain lets up soon
  2. That sounds delish!! Thank you for sharing!
  3. Banded Dec 17th, down 29 lbs since surgery day...first fill was this past Wednesday...I've heard so many say that this is just another diet until you reach restriction and that is so true... we must rely on ourselves to stick to our portions...I know it's hard but we can all do it..Stay strong banders!!
  4. That's awesome!! Best wishes to you!
  5. I had my tummy done at Nellis AFB in 2009...I was only really "down" for about 5 days. I had a pain pump attached and percocet also...still, laughing and sneezing was no fun! My youngest daughter was 3 1/2 at the time, so I hear you about your son, but she was awesome and we just played, watched movies and colored on my bed...The most difficult thing was the sleeping for me, my muscles were so tight I couldn't lay flat for a few weeks, I propped my lower legs on pillows and did just fine. Showering wasn't too bad, the first time my husband held my drains ( I had 2) while I showered, from then on he fashioned a hook out of a hanger and I hung them up when I showered! I loved my binder and I kept it on for about 2 1/2 weeks. My husband was awesome during the whole recovery process, he emptied and measured my drainage, yuck! and he held my hand when they pulled out my drains, ouch!...You'll do great!! Like Floridays said your doctor may do things different...I wish you well!!
  6. Carla, there is no form that I know of... I went to my doctor on base and told him I needed 6 months of supervised diet and exercise..he documented my weight that day, what I was eating and what exercise I was doing..I did the same thing for the next 5 months...I'm almost certain there is no form...can I ask where you heard this from?
  7. I think you're both fabulous and your sister too Lee...just amazing!!
  8. Gas-x never worked for me..the only thing that helped with that horrible gas pain in my shoulder was my heating pad...it was my best friend for about a week and when I left the house I took a hot water bottle with me! Walking always made my pain worse but I did it every hour on the hour while I was awake anyway....it took around 8 days before I put my heating pad down. I hope your pain eases up soon. Congrats on your banding and happy healing!!
  9. I loath exercise when I'm big, lets face it, it hurts and for us women we have a few things bouncing all over the place, but a few years ago when I lost 150 lbs and weighed 150, I loved it...I ran 5 miles a day with my husband...for me it's all about how comfortable I am doing it. Right now I walk 7 days a week with my dog, we both need it and it's good for both of us, we walk for about 40 minutes at a brisk pace and it's good enough for us...but I will be back to running when I can keep up with my husband..about 100 lbs from now!
  10. OMG, I love me some cheese! All kinds!....I have every flavor of the laughing cow wedges and I love the babybells. I buy string cheese for my kids....then I hide them, so they can't eat them all before I get to them....Like CG I love sharp cheddar, I used to buy a 1 lb block and it would be gone in 2 days....now I want me some cheese!
  11. I agree...a supportive, knowledgeable, understanding surgeon, nutritionist and nursing staff will make a huge difference in your journey. They need to be able to answer all your questions and give you all the info and advice you need to succeed....I wish you the very best!
  12. I tried many different protein shakes and the only ones I like.. (yes, I actually LIKE to drink them!) are Muscle Milk and Muscle Milk Lite. Hope you find something you LIKE!
  13. Awesome news!! Congratulations!!
  14. I didn't have to do a pre op diet and my BMI was 50 ~ 1 month later it's 45!!
  15. Ha ha! I miss home, I'd love to go shopping at Queensgate!! I've been here 7 long years!!
  16. Glad you feel better today, makes me think I need to wait it out, thanks!!
  17. Percocet makes me nauseous too, can you call you doc and ask for a a prescription for anti nausea meds? I had the ones that dissolve on your tongue and they helped so much.. Drink small sips as often as you can, walk as often as you can, use a heating pad for gas pains. For me, the really bloated gassy fullness went away around day 4 or 5, that's when I could feel my hunger more but the swelling could last weeks. Definitely call your doc if your temp gets higher but I was told by my daughters surgeon that a low grade fever sometimes accompanies surgery, she had a 99.8 fever last week after her surgery and it lasted only 1 day and then went away..but keep an eye on it...Congratulations on your surgery!!...in a week you will feel like a different person, I promise....
  18. That's awesome! and you look amazing!
  19. I'm so very sorry for your loss Tiffany...

  22. Yes, United Health Care won the contract and they take over in April....hopefully it will be easier to get wls surgery with the new insurance...I really hope so..
