Honestly, I don't care if people know I'm having surgery. I know I'm in the minority here (or so it seems). I look at it as a necessary surgery. I wouldn't be ashamed to treat a broken arm, or wear glasses and I'm treating my weight the same way. People make snarky comments on my weight now, I have had some resistance and negativity about the surgery, so I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't.
After all these years I fail to see how my weight issues offend people, or why my choice to address the issues would offend them either.
I mean, I'm not wearing a T Shirt proclaiming my choice everywhere I go or anything, but I don't care if people know or not.

I'm kind of a hard a$$ so I would say "get on board this train or get run over by it...those are the 2 choices" don't let his indecision and insecurities mess with you. You need to be sure of what you are doing and who you are doing it for.

March 6th is my surgery and I just have my pre-op appointment on 2/20 and then I start my liquid diet super excited! 35 more days!

Yes I'm set up for March 18th. MY BIRTHDAY.

Start my 2 week pre op diet today. I am also goings I take all my measurements. I'm ready for this! Ask me tomorrow when I'm a crabby beotch though!

Yessss... me, March 11

Just found out today...March 5th

So I went out yesterday and bought 2 adorable dresses that I can 'eventually' wear with leggings....One is an XL, the other is a 12 (yikes!!!) for now they'll hang in the front of my closet where I can drool over them....can't wait til I can wear em though!!!!!!!
HW 312, pre-op (lap-band) 294, pre-op (RNY) 251, surgery date 2/11/13, goal weight 154, current weight 251

I am also in the same boat. I am leaning more to the full bypass only because its a bigger bang for my buck. Also with the sleeve being able to eat whatever i want scares the Dickens out of me. I never want to be this big again, maybe dumping its a good thing

I would say wait til the last minute, then order 2 sizes down from what you are at that point. They'll still be able to go down 2 more if needed. Do you get to pick your own dress in the selected color, or are all the bridesmaids wearing the same dress? If you can pick your own, pick something simple with clean lines, it can be taken in more than a detailed dress.

I am 6 weeks out and lost 30 pounds from my surgery date (was 269 day of surgery), so I average 5 pounds a week, Well technically I lost a bunch the first 2 weeks and then about 2-3 pounds since then. I lost my weight everywhere from my fingers to my butt to my boobs, lol. Is it an A line dress? If so I would do 1 size down from your current bust at ordering and then have them take it in. You usually don't drop over 2 sizes your first month, but depends on where your weight is lost. In the past, where do you lose it the most? Then go from there. It is easy to take in, but hard to let out a dress. So in 1 size, means you could lose 3 sizes the first month and the dress would look good still. That is what I would do.

I completely understand!!!!! I have friends that when I tell them that the goal is to lose 150 lbs and they say either 1) do u even have 150 lb to lose or 2) well I hope you aren't too boney and skinny after because u look good now and carry your weight well. To which I say "my body and joints feel every single lb that I carry and this isn't about vanity, it's about living a more healthy life." I think people immediately jump to the vanity and superficial benefits of losing weight and not the health benefits. They just need to be reminded and have their focus readjusted. I've had good luck with this response and have gotten a lot of support.

Amen! I feel the same way. But that's the point of the dieting, in my opinion, to teach u that food is ur choice and it only has the control you give it. keep up the good work!

As of today I've lost 99 pounds and reached my goal weight of 135.
I had my surgery 8 1/2 months ago.
This is still like a dream to me.
I've still got a way to go fitness-wise.
Now I'm thinking about saving for plastic surgery.
After 3 c-sections and having my last child at the age of 40 my tummy just looks gross.
On a brighter note today I bought an impossibly small looking (and incredibly stretchy) pair of size 4 pants!!

Oh yea!!! I said goodbye to all my favorite foods one by one...as they went into my tummy lol

Reading smut book today has helped to take my mind off this!! Yes, I'm reading the trilogy....& I refuse to admit that in court : )

I know how u feel. Just want to start have this surgery so I can start the rest of my life. Today I went and enrolled in anytime fitness.
