Hello

I am new here and hoping I am doing this right! I am on the fourth of six months pre-op. At my last appointment, the surgeon said he was shooting for the end of April for my surgery date! I am still undecided on which surgery to go for, by gastric bypass is in the lead so far. If anyone can share their thoughts, it would be great. My reason for WLS Is my back. I will most likely need surgery in the very near future per my back specialist and need to lose a significant amount of weight first. I was 340 when I started this journey and am now at 304. Any thoughts?

Thoughts are you are doing wonderful and keep up the good work!!

I am also in the same boat. I am leaning more to the full bypass only because its a bigger bang for my buck. Also with the sleeve being able to eat whatever i want scares the Dickens out of me. I never want to be this big again, maybe dumping its a good thing

I chose RNY gastric bypass because I have a tendency to overeat at mealtimes. it was explained to me that the little pouch helps most with this type of eating behavior. The surgeon I went to see first told us that he no longer did bands because she felt the rate of slippage was too high to justify.

I have also heard that about the lap band. I have seen several posts on other sites in where people have had a lot of trouble with it slipping. I have read that the sleeve can leak due to the whole side of the stomach being stapled once they remove a portion. The rny also can have complications. It is such an important thing for me to have done, but a little scary as well. Thanks for the replies!
