Ok-need some splainig...
When I first got back on track I barely ate veggies and fruit. I still do not eat a lot of them because I only get half cup meals. The longer I was good the more i have been able to incorporate more things back in my diet. Protein solids are most important. If you don't trust your dr why would you have surgery from him? Always follow what your doctor tells you to do.

how do you know when you're full?
I just wanted to add. I do not always know when I am satisfied but I know when to stop because I measure out my food. Hope this helps someone.

Anything is possible!!
Thanks it has been an amazing journey so far. I am as close to happy as I have ever been. It's like a chain reaction. I feel better all around, I am a nicer and more confident person. I started recycling because I am not so lazy and while walking at the park on Sunday I could not stop myself from picking up trash on the path. For me this is just the beginning of who I want to be. So now I am getting my ass to the gym before I lose my motivation. Thanks to everyone for unending support and no bs.

Anything is possible!!
I am very proud to share this picture with you guys. I started 4 years ago lost my way. I managed to keep almost 50lbs off. Since I have gotten my ass in gear the end of last October I have lost 58.8 for a total today of 100.2! I am proof that you can do it. If you are not doing well or lost your way you can get back on track!! If I can do it anyone can! my journey is just beginning!!

I really miss diet soda!
I chew gum almost all the time except when I am at the gym. I do not believe if you swallow your gum you absolutely are going to need surgery. I have chronic dry mouth which is extremely extremely painful. It even affects my glands and throat. The only thing that helps me is gum with xylitol. I chew mentos and it really is not very sticky does not even stick to my teeth. This is per my dentsy and my band nurse knows and has never told me to stop. I wouldn't anyway.

Are you always conscious of your band?
When I first saw your question I was ready to say no, but truth is I always think and plan everything around my band. I live basically meal to meal day to day. I know one thing. It is working!!!!

Please help...need food ideas.
I would suggest trying quinoa instead of rice. It is a grain that is gluten free and has protein. I have not heard of any bander having any problems with it. Most doctors day no to rice.

Please help...need food ideas.
I would suggest trying quinoa in place of rice. It is a grain, has no gluten and has natural protein. Anyone can join the recipe group by friending me in Facebook at Hely lb.

I really miss diet soda!
I just wanted to add that I have looked up weight loss and diet sodas before on google and they are worse for you with your weigh loss then if you drank sugared drinks because of all the chemicals.

Getting back on track
I have been banded about 4 years and same thing happened to me. You just really have to dig down deep and find what will make you get back on track. I thought about it for a long time and then saw a picture of me and that was the straw. I got in touch with my doctor and they did a flouro to make sure my band was ok and then gave me a small fill. I have followed their guidelines and not looked back. I have lost over 50 lbs since last October for total of hopefully over 100 at tomorrows weigh in and last week I joined a gym. If I can do it anyone can. You have to have that "want power". I also have a recipe group on Facebook if you would like to join freind me at hely lb. Its really great and has become very active. People share food ideas , pictures of their meals, what they are having for dinner etc.. It is open to everyone. Best of luck and please feel free to Facebook me any time.

I really miss diet soda!
Sometimes I want it but my doctor says no and I have been doing so well since I started following the rule as much as possible. My go to now is low calorie gatorade but only when I have drank all my water. You might want to ask yourself how bad do you really want that soda?

WHAT!!! I exercised 4x last week and gained 5 pounds! I hate this!
You guys are great. I am struggeling with how to eat with my new exercise program. I am doing cardio at least 6 days up to 50 minutes so far weight circuit every other day and just added ab weights today which I will do every day I do cardio. I ate yougrt and nuts for breakfast and then had protein shake after. So not really sure how to fit my other two meals in. If I eat lunch now I wont want dinner. I did have snack of lf cheese spread and few rice crackers so I will be hungry to eat dinner. I so do not want to drink one shake but definetly not two. So I am curious are you drinking a protein shake after you work out? I was told to eat at most an hour before exercise and a protein drink after. I am finding that exercising is making me less hungry not more. I mean I am hungry right after but the shake soohtes that then I have a hard time finishing up my day. I only eat half cup meals. Sounds kind of like me. sometimes i am hungry but a couple bites of some thing takes care of that.

Did you ever dislike your band?
I have to say unfortunately I ignored my band, but after getting back on track and losing again it is the best thing I have ever done and I feel the best I have ever felt.

Off to meet with the Nutritionist
That is great. I was never sent to nutritionist before. I wish I was.

Had Lap Band and have BIG sweet craving!
I agree probably too tight. See your doctor before your band slips. I find decaf coffee soothes my sweet tooth but sounds like that is least of your problems.

Perdiod post op
well I have to say that at this point in my band journey I get so tight its crazy. My back hurts so bad I can not stand up for very long. best thing that helps me is liquids per my nurse and cvs brand tylenol arthitis strength. I really notice a difference when I take it. those who know me know I hate being on liquids!!

I also get the runny nose. I thought it was just me!

Start puree!!!
Sounds like you have a good plan. I never had a puree stage. Went from liquids to mushy to solids. Keep up the good work.
