Kirstey Alley is the Jenny Craig spokesperson, she has lost all of her weight on the Jenny Craig program..havent you seen her commercials, and didnt you see her on Oprah praising Jenny Craig diet plan?
  2. UHC is one of the fastest when it comes to approval..glad you decided to go with the band over the RNY...I do not think you will regret your decision, especially if you want more children like you stated in your other thread.. Good Luck
  3. Jane...I'm so happy for you. You have done such a fantastic job with your band..you should be very proud

Hi Paula We miss you too Glad you are doing OK Thanks for checking in!
  5. Here is a goodsite that may help you to answer that question..for me I know alot of the time it isan attitude adjustment instead of a band adjustment http://lapbandtransformation.com/Adjustments.htm
  6. all of my scars are horizontal..they are so small I can barely find them
  7. Carbonations has been said to stretch the pouch, it is also very painful to drink..it also causes major gas pains because of the gasses used in it. Some have even said it could cause erosion of your band...to me it is not worth the risk of having it..My Dr. said NO CARBONATION ever again!
  8. 10/17 162.5 1.5 lb loss for me this week
  9. Monday 10/17 162.5 1.5 lb loss this week. No measurements to report. I will measure next week. I measure every two weeks
  10. John, you look fantastic.. Thanks for sharing all of this with us, it sure does make me think. I too am happy with where Iam in my weight loss journey, if I never lose another pound and I can maintain this loss, then I have won the battle. One day at a time!
  11. Its part of the process.. all GB patients disagree with the band and all band patients disagree with the GB...Plain and simple. I personally have seen to many people with major complications with the GB..I'm very happy I have the band. I have been very successful!
  12. you most likely have swelling which makes anything difficult. I had a PB last week that lasted for 4 hours and experienced the same thing, I did liquids for 2 days and it was better. you need to let the swelling subside...stay with the thinner liquids. If the heartburn continues cal lyour Dr. you made ned a little fill removed to give the stoma a rest and heal from the PB episode and you want to rule out any slipp the PB may have caused. Heartburn can sometime mean a small slip or too tight of fill. Dont want to scare you but those are the facts. Hope you feel better soon
  13. I do not normally count calories, I pretty much know what I'm taking in..I do snack on occassion, it is easier to not snack when you have the proper fill level. Without it it can be difficult. Many U.S. docs are more consewrvative on their fills they really want you to work the band and creep up on restriction where as MX docs fill you to a higher capacity quicker so you can reach restriction quicker. We do have to do some of the work, there is no doubt about it...the rule of thumb is if you are following the rules and not losing in 3 consecutive weeks you may need a fill ..if you are losing 1-3 lbs a week then you are doing great!
  14. Benet, there are several men here who have been banded..the is Jack, Greg, Ryan and others too. Welcome to LBT..Congratulations to you on your new band I hope you have lotsof success. Glad you found us here
  15. Dont beat yourself up..the good thing about the band is ...tomorrow is a new day, you may be suprised what the scale reads, whenever I think I over did it, I see no gain and sometimes even a loss..One day at a time my friend is all we can do. Get back up on the band wagon...we all fall off of it occassionaly
  16. Andrea, best of luck tomorrow, I hope everything goes smoothly for you
  17. No Christmas dinner is well worth the reward. I had my surgery on April 6th of 2004, 1 week before Easter, I was on liquids for Easter dinner, but 1 year later this Easter I had dinner with the same family members and I had lost over 80 lbs, what a blessing for me...I enjoyed Easter dinner this year. Next Christmas you will be thin and get to enjoy it..Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery. The good thing is by having the band and getting healthier and adding years to your life, you will most likely be around for alot more Christmas dinners
  18. You may not be experiencing restriction yet. Restriction comes from your fills. SOme get restriction initially from surgery but many do not. The key is right now during the healing phase is to practice all of the rules..eat slow, chew chew chew, small bites, no drinking with meals and wait 1 hour after a meal to eat.Protein first then veggies, then fruits if you haveroom then carbs. Remember the first 6 weeks is for healing and getting your band to set into place, not for weight loss. any weight lost during this phase is a bonus. Weight loss will come once you get proper restriction from your fills. Congratulations to you on your new band, I wish you lots of success P.S. It is totally normal to feel hungry during this phase, you are not alone here, all new bandsters get hungry but once the fills start happening your hunger wil lsubside. One thing that works for me with my hunger is Protein, protein curbs the hunger. Carbs will crave more scarbs and you wil lbe hungry..Keep the carbs to a minimum and the protein high , it will help with hunger!
  19. I notice my port more, seems the more I lose the more I notice it..you could also be feeling scar tissue which is forming around the port. ...I think it is normal for us to always worry that something has gone wrong with our ports and bands. I'm 18 month post op and I stil lworry about it.
  20. Hi LaTonsha Welcome to LBT..Congratulations on your new band. I wish you lots of success You are off to a good start all ready!

Prada Girl, you are not alone..I had the same pain and I continue to get it from time to time especially after a fill. I'm 18 months post op and still experience it..
  25. Kare, I can only speak from my own ER experience here in CA I had complete bowel obstruction, and was in theworst pain I have EVER been in in my life..the ER doc specifically told me he did not feel comfortable operating on me since he did not know anything about the lap band, he told me I needed to go back to MX and have Ortiz fix me, that is when he called Ortiz and spoke to him on the phone and Ortiz told him to get me to MX ASAP and he would do the surgery I found out later through the President of the hospital that I went to who is a customer of mine that Mission Hospital does not have a bariatric team or department...which explains it all. I was told next time in an emergency situation to go to SOuth Coast Medical where they have a trained bariatric team. This is just my experience...personally I would rather travel to Tj for an emergency since Ortiz knows me and my band so well...the time Id wait in the ER waiting room here in CA to be seen by an ER doc I can be in TJ and get treated immediately. I waited 2 hours in the ER waiting room before I was even seen..It takes 1.5 hours to drive to Ortiz's office
