  1. Fruit? What kind? I drank EAS adn others... you may be ready and not have any questions but if you do and you wanna meet sometime over the weekend, just let me know. Not sure if you drink coffee but we could meet at BAM or Starbucks. I know even though my husband and I did it together, I had lots of questions and wanted to talk and chat to anyone who had been through it and like a typical man... he didn't want to talk much about it... LOL. I'm excited for you.
  2. I live in the Oak Grove area around Westover intersection. I was just banded a week ago on 10/24 and my husband was banded on the same day. So do you have a day? Are you having it done at the Surgery Center at the clinic? Do you have support having it done? If you want to email me instead, please do... its lauradevans@gmail.com. We do have a support group that meets at the clinic once a month. Last on was on the 23rd so I'm not sure when the next is... it was our first to go to. I know it's scary and you are on Pre-Op liquids... I've been there, hang in, you can do it. SF popciles got me through. What are you drinking?
  3. Go for a walk or go to bed... lol. The first couple of days are the hardest BUT I promise, it gets easier!!!
  4. Hey there... I'm from Hattiesburg and Dr Donald is my doctor too! Have you been banded or just starting?
  5. I was banded 10/24 and never real hungry either but like other post, get some Protein down. If you just don't drink/eat anything, your body will shut off and hold on to what it has thinking its starving. You need nutrients! I just have to drink them slowly! I do about 3 oz every hour to hour & half. I have tried unflavored protein in Water with crystal light...cause I'm sick of milk base drinks!!
  6. Gosh, I thought I was the only one with "loose" instead of painful! I just thought it was all the liquids...glad to know others have had this too! I love this board!!
  7. Congrats!! The gas gets better with walking, walking, walking! I woke up at 4:30 am and walked my driveway! Breathing in the cool air felt good! Also, it does hurt so take a pillow, but if you need to cough, DO IT!!! It helps clear your lungs after surgery.
  8. I just used the heating pad to help with my back aches and shoulder aches. After surgery I had to sleep in recliner so my back would hurt. I also got cold at night so it warmed me up and just felt good!
  9. FOLLOW ADVICE...ER NOW !!! I had a blockage post op and was admitted as I was dehydrated as well. If your doc is on hospital staff they will consult him and he will have to come see you, even if you have to go to administration. A doctor can not abandon a pt...I run a medical practice I know this is lawsuit grounds! When I was admitted I had to ave 4 bags of Fluid before I felt normal...if you have thrown up for a few weeks, you need IV now to help you!
  10. Be careful...I only stayed 42 hours in hospital after c-section and said heck, I can handle this! Well, it's kicked my butt! I had some unusual post-op but I'm not sure I would want to drive that far so little time out of surgery. Sorry you are having to go through this at the same time...
  11. That is awesome! Since my husband and I banded on same day, my in laws came to stay for the day. My fil went back home ( 1 1/2 hours) but on Friday am at 4:00 when I called my mo and sister to take me to ER. he allied in and drove back here to drive my husband up to the hospital and pick up my child! Then when I thought I was over the hump (but was not) my mil who had just gone home day before and doesn't drive often...showed back up to help again! My family has been a God send during this time for us! I'm happy you have that support....let them help you!
  12. Don't give up. Have you checked with the surgeons office on ideas? Houston is a HUGE city.. it may cost a little but you may can hire a nurse sitter for the day/night. I had an EDG from complications post lap band yesterday. I was only given versed and was awake and alert right after surgery. I did not drive home but not groggy at all. The only issues after was a sore throat... Also, check with your friend.. she may have a coworker she would intrust your health too that is single and may need a few extra bucks. They could stay with you for the procedure.
  13. Thanks. I've talked with my doc today already. Plan s to just stay on ice chips and if I throw up the Water then I will admitted again today to insert a central line for iv nutrients.
  14. I can't keep anything down! I'm now home from hospital but throwing up again! My GI exray showed my stoma opening was swollen shut and nothing is going through band. If I can't keep anything down still this am I will call my doctor and he will take me back to surgery to unbuckle but leave in band till the swelling goes down them another surgery to rebuckle it back so I have a working band.
  15. No, just as stated... I was banded on we'd 10/24 and I can't keep anything down! I was throwing up in recovery so my stoma and digestive teach are super swollen. I was admitted post op day 2 after surgery and released late yesterday. Now again, I throw up everything. My doctor told me next would be to go back to surgery and unbuckle the lap band. ( they already tried letting all Fluid out). He said he would leave the band in but unbuckle to let he swelling go down. Then later rebuckle. The thought of two more surges freak me out....but I can go on not keeping anything down. Last time I had a Protein shake or anything that stayed down was Tuesday the 23rd....today is now Sunday the 28th! I'm not hungry but I know my body needs nutrients. I was just wondering if anyone had gone through this?
  16. Has anyone had to. have the band unbuckled for any reason? Did u have it rebuckled?
  17. They have. Taken all Fluid out. Just thinking the area was swollen shut. I'm being discharged now. But I'm worried ill come right back.
  18. Yes, band was checked and in place....It just was too swollen to let anything pass through it. So I took a round of steroids and I' now on my 4th bag of fluid. I just don't know if the pressure I feel is right or if its goofing into stomach now. Mire ally scared cause I don't want 2 more surgeries. I am not nauseaed just feel everything sits on sternum and it hurts like the devil. When you are eating or drinking and you get the full feeling. Where do you feel it? In belly or enforce of sternum?
  19. I'm day 3 postoperative and was admitted o hospital due to not keeping anything down. After a full day of just I've fluid I tried drinking broth and apple juice at breakfast. Managed to keep it down but not at lunch I feel like Everything. I drink sits at my sternum and it HURTS. Anybody have this feeling and is it normal? I want to o home but I'm afraid ill just end up here. Doctor saying that he may have to take me back to surgery to unbuckle band. Let me heal then surgery again to rebuckle. Trying my dangest to not do this.
  20. I have not been so lucky coming to the other side as I've been admitted to hospital post op but hope to have turned the corner by am. Ready to change my life!
  21. Glad u are home. We (husband and wife team) where banded on the 24th. I was sick on recovery and had wet lungs. Had to have albutrrol treatment in post op. went home and husband has done great. I'm typing from the hospital room as I was admitted at 4 this am cause I could not stop throwing up. I couldn't keep anything down. They drew 1cc off band hoping that would help but upper GI test today should my port was swollen shut. I'm on drip for fluids and very tired of this hospital bed. I'm hoping to try liquid again the the am. If still can't keep it down will have to go back to surgery. Not happy about that thought. Ready to change my life!
