My dr always uses floro (X-ray) and a numbing agent. I get a small bruise and drop of blood. My insurance overs most of it. I usually end up paying $50 or so out of pocket. Before the Dr started doing floro with all fills, I only paid my copayment of $25.
I have an appoint for a fill next week!! Woohoo! I have had my band five years. Lost over 100 lbs, then had fluid removed due to severe anemia (thought to be band related in the beginning, but isn't) and now I starting to get refilled! I have gained 60 lbs in three years. I ready! Current weight is 204.
I agree you need to talk to your DR. Maybe you should ask him to pull all fluid out to measure it? I have just a primer in my band right now and I feel restriction, though only slightly.
My DR says no food four hours prior to fill and then liquids for 48 hours. I have had my band for five years and saw three DR's in three different states, and all have been pretty close to this timeline.
Good luck with your surgery! I cannot think of anything you need to bring that hasn't already been mentioned. I was banded in 2007 and the surgery was easy for me. Best wishes!
Hi! New here! I had my band surgery in 2006. I lost a bit over 100 pounds but had all fluid taken out due to severe anemia. I am starting to be refilled and need some emotional support! I have gained 60 pounds due to poor habits. I know how to do the band, just need a boost to get back on track! Thanks
