  1. You are very very lucky! Be proud. I wish I could see that number. Since I had a fill 3 weeks ago I have been stuck at the same number but clothes fit better. I don't get it.

Congratulations on being banded! The shoulder pain is from the gas they put in you. Use a heating pad, it works. The pain should go away in about 3 days. The belly gas doesn't leave. I was banded 7/30 and always have gas and was told by banders that is normal. Good luck with your new life and eating healthier!

Today I finally had my favorite-pizza! I had one slice and it went down great. I still haven't tried lettuce yet. I love to eat salad but I am afraid of choking on the lettuce. I had my support group tonight and we talked about exercise. The one thing I don't do. Next week I am joining a gym. I am going to try to go 3-5 days a week. The physical therapist we had as a speaker tonight thinks tread mills are not great. He likes recumbent bikes and ellipticals better. Good to know because those are the 2 pieces of equipment that I like. I find tread mills boring. Have a great evening everyone.
  4. Good luck! My husband today asked me if you can stretch the band and gain weight. I guess you answered his question. I went to my support group tonight and love it. Do you still go to them?
  5. Great Story!!!! Good for you. I was banded 7/30 and I am doing great. Best thing I ever did for myself. I don't exercise enough either. I think next week I am joining a gym. Just going will be the trick. Good luck and thanks for hope.
  6. Hello, i think you're doing great. I have gas really bad after I eat. My husband thinks it has to do with the new stomach being smaller and how the food passes through. I never asked anyone about this but at least there is no smell.
  7. Good evening, I would call the doctor as soon as you can. I don't think that sounds normal. Good luck.
  8. The scale has not moved down in about one week. I am pissed. I am now on Stage 5 for life so maybe my body is adjusting to food. I took my measurements one month ago and again today. I have lost inches so that makes me feel good. I finally fit into my misses size jeans, 18!!!!!! I haven't seen that size in over 10 years. Enjoy your Columbus Day weekend everyone.

Happy Thursday everyone. Today I start Stage 5 and it's my birthday. My new life is starting and I am 62. It took me all these years to finally take care of me first. Having lunch out at a fish restaurant with my son and husband. I hope I do well eating something different. Have a great day everyone and think THIN! we are all worth it.

I had a fill on Friday and lost weight real fast being on liquids. Since I started eating food again I have gained 2 lbs. I hope it balances off this weekend. Good luck!
  11. Congrats!!!! on the engagement. I feel bad that the insurance company doesn't think you are worth a new start. I live in MA and I was approved 1st time. Is it the state you live in? Don't give up. Try Weight Watches, Jennifer Hudson looks amazing. I just can't stick to those diets that is why I am banded. Good luck.
  12. Before I was banded I had to take 6 pills a day to eat because of a hernia and my stomach was in the wrong place. Were you tested for these? Maybe some foods are not agreeing with you. I was banded 7/30 and get terrible gas at night (my poor husband). Tomorrow I start Stage 5 so who knows what will agree or not. Good luck, call the dietitian.
  13. OMG! that stinks. I had my first fill on Friday. I was on liquids for 3 days and then soft foods for 3 and tomorrow I start stage 5 for life. Maybe you were suppose to have just liquids not any foods at the beginning. Feel better.

Hello everyone, On Dr. Oz today Lisa Lampanelli is going to talk about having the sleeve surgery. She did it in the spring and has lost 80lbs. Great weight loss but way too fast. That is why I think the Band is so much better and safer. her husband also had the sleeve done. I can't wait to hear Dr. Oz's opinion on the sleeve. Enjoy Happy Hump Day, all!

protein, protein for hair loss. About 25 years ago a cousin had gastric by pass and then they didn't know how important protein was and she sent bald. I make protein shakes for breakfast every day and use 1 1/2 scoops of the powder. I don't want to lose hair. Diet pills can be so dangerous. Maybe you need another fill and don't weigh yourself every day. My son told me to throw my scale out, but it's my friend. I don't exercise enough at all and know that would help my weight loss. Good luck.
  16. Good evening, At my last support group meeting we got a hand out showing different things to buy. One was a digital scale to weigh food. Is this a necessary purchase? I don't measure, I guess and have the butcher weigh my food raw. Clothes, today I wore my new jeans! Misses size not woman's. It felt great. Have a great week.
  17. I know what you're talking about. I hate to be noticed yet I want people to comment. I just saw a lot of people for the Jewish New Year and most people said nothing and I am down 57 lbs. That sucked. I feel for you. I just put on a new pair of jeans that I bought last week and they were tight. They are a misses, not women's size 18! That is great for me. Good luck.
  18. Great story about the date. Good for you to date before banding. Did you tell the man? Sorry to hear that your ex won't be part of your new "you". His loss when he sees the new you. I have not felt this great in years even with a bad back and terrible knees. Good luck with your new wardrobe.
  19. Glad to hear your bleeding is over with. That really was awful. I just got my first fill on Friday, 2 months after my banding. So for 3 days I was on shakes again and the weight comes off fast. Now until Thursday it's back to soft foods. Then Thursday, my birthday, I am on Stage 5 for life. Can't wait to have lobster again. My stomach never stops grumbling, especially when I go to bed at night. I don't dream of food anymore. My husband said to me today about taking small pieces of some of my favorite foods but I didn't do this to be bad. I am going to try pizza this weekend. I do miss that a lot. Stay positive and think thin!
  20. This morning I said to my husband I know my clothes are big but I still feel fat. When I look into the mirror, I see fat me. I was banded 7/30 but started losing weight in March and I am down 57 lbs. I put on a size 3x 't' this morning and it is huge! The sleeves are very long. That makes me feel great but I still feel very fat. When does this disappear? Good luck with your weight loss.

Nice to hear your 2 sons are getting better. I see you're from my area. What hospital did you go to? I went to the BI in Boston. They were great. If you are near Rt 1 in Walpole, the IHOP has a great pot roast with mashed potatoes. I have had it a few times. I am over 55 so the portion is fine for me. Good luck with the boys! and yourself. You are worth it, just remember.
  22. I love protein shakes. I buy only chocolate and add some decaf instant coffee and peppermint extract and a real lot of ice. It becomes very thick like a McDonald's shake. I use skim milk also. I just had my first fill and will be on shakes until tomorrow. One good thing, I am losing a real lot of weight! Since Friday at the doctor's I am down another 5 lbs. Think, thin and smaller size clothes. Good luck, it's only temporary. I also had a hernia repaired and my stomach was in the wrong place. The banding is/was the best thing I ever did for ME! Have a great week.

Just had my first fill. Back to liquids for 3 days, then soft mashed foods for 3 days and then STAGE 5!!!!!! Can't wait. I miss shrimp, lobster and salad. My husband misses us having Chinese food. Today really starts the rest of my life. I am making a promise to myself never to be obese again. I didn't go to this extreme (surgery) to be fat. I really enjoy this site and reading about everyone. Thank you all. You all give me encouragement that only Banders would understand. Have a great weekend. If you're from NE, stay dry.

Tomorrow I see the doctor and may get my first fill. I am nervous. I am doing fine as is. After the doctor I have a dietitian meeting about new foods. I miss bread. I went to Olive Garden today, no bread sticks, no pasta and no salad. I ate a small piece of chicken grilled and mashed potatoes. Tasted great but it was Olive Garden, home of the endless salad. It is 2 months since my banding and I'm doing super. I don't get enough exercise in. I can't afford the gym right now but hope to join one within the next month or so. Next week is my birthday and I would like to go walking around down town Boston and window shop but my husband isn't well enough to walk around. He has health issues. Last year on my birthday I took him home from the hospital after open heart surgery. The heart is fine, it's the rest of the body that isn't doing well. He's another whole story. I just needed to vent-thank you for listening.
