  1. I agree with you, eat what your professionals tell you. Every one of them is different. I had a fill Thursday and then my doctor had me back to liquids and then mushy, each for 3 days. Other banders have their regular diet the next day. There is one woman, I forget her name, and she told me she had a plateau for many months but lost inches. That made me feel better. You're doing great!
  2. Congratulations!!!!!!! This is the perfect site for support and well wishes. Your children will love all the fun they will have with you without you getting tired.

I think it sounds like the stress of the family and your father. It is flu season, though. Maybe the doctor can recommend something for you. I wish you a better night's sleep. My thoughts are with you.
  4. Very nice of you to raise your grandsons. I understand mental illness, I have a 68 year brother, I am 62, who I help take care of who now lives in elderly housing since our mother is in a nursing home. Bless you, it is not easy. Now about popcorn, I had about 1/2 cup a few weeks ago and chewed real well and it agreed with me. Good luck and let your grandson eat some!
  5. Congratulations on getting a date. You don't really need much for the hospital. I brought slippers-they give those slipper sox. Bring a tooth brush and tooth paste, deodorant and a hair brush. You go home usually the next day. Bring elastic waste pants and slip on shoes. Nothing special. You will be given prescriptions for liquid meds, make sure you take them. No straws, I haven't been given the go ahead since my banding, 7/30. I really enjoy my protein shakes. I only drink chocolate, add decaf (only) coffee, peppermint extract and lots of ice and it tastes great. I hate breakfast so I have a shake every morning. I just had a fill and my doctor has me on liquids for 3 days, mushy foods for 3 days then back to my regular diet after day 7. It becomes no big deal except when the husband wants to eat dinner out all the time. Good luck, you will do great.

You have given me hope to try Zumba. Thank you. I have always loved dancing, too. My music teacher was mean to me like you dance teacher to you. I loved singing and didn't know I sucked at it and my 3rd grade teacher told me not to sing when the class sang. Teachers can be so mean and they scare us for life and don't even know it. I am glad you now teach the class!!!!!!!!

Wonderful!!!!!!! That is the best number to see. I hope I see that number by next week.
  8. Welcome to the blog. Sorry to hear about your father and Nana. You look amazing and you will get back on track. Everyone on this blog is very supportive and we will all cheer for you!
  9. YES!!!!!!!!!! it is worth it. I am very proud of you. At least the daughter is honest that having surgery is not for her.

good luck! It is the best thing I ever did, but I was almost 61 when I was banded. I failed at so many other diets during my kids childhood. Being able to play with your children and be fit is important for you and them. The liquid diet is not so bad. I got a fill Thursday and my doctor has me on liquids for 3 days and mushy foods for 3 days after each fill. You do lose a lot of weight that way. The reason for the liquid before the surgery is to make sure your liver is not fatty or they can not do the surgery. I don't understand it all but that was said at a meeting. I go to almost every support group meeting at the hospital every month and talking to others to great support and you learn from each other. Good luck-you'll be happy with the new you and new clothes in smaller sizes.
  11. I went to the doctor Thursday for my second fill. He is a very important person in my life. I told him all about this wonderful support site and great people I have met. He thinks it great. I also asked about how big my band is and how many cc's he puts in and he asked why and I told him people on this site people talk about it. He didn't think it was necessary to tell me. Should I have pressed him for this? Being on a liquid diet after the fill, I have lost a lot of weight since Thursday, around 5 pounds! Last night I saw my new grandson, Max. He is very cute for a new born. Max is my 3rd grandson, no girls, yet. It is snowing lightly in Boston-ugh! I hate snow and winter. Have a great Saturday, all.

Hi Where do you work out? Easton area? I plan on joining WOW on Monday but near my house in Randolph. I have never used a trainer before. You look amazing-keep up the great work.
  13. Hi Call the doctor asap. This does not sound normal. It's great to lose weight but it has to be healthy. Good luck.
  14. Congratulations on your weight loss. A woman in my support group brought i n a Fitbit and I fell in love with it except the price. You have a nice MIL! The woman showed everyone on the computer how she uses it and it seems to be the best. Enjoy it .I had a fill yesterday and am liquids until Sunday and then mushy for 3 days. Because of this I may reach 199 by the beginning of the week. So there is a plus side to fills and liquids. Enjoy your weekend.

Your measurements sound great-all down. Go get remeasured for a bra. I did and was shocked! I just walked my son's dog, she is staying with us for a few days and put on my winter jacket, size 2x-huge!! A new one is on next week's to buy list. I think I am now a misses xl. Seeing lower sizes sometimes is better than the scale. Keep it up or should I say down!

Hello, My daughter-in-law had a boy. I guess the men in family only make boys, there are no girls in the family other than the cats and dog. Everyone is great. I think they missed calculated the date by one month. I went for my fill, and got a small one. Since my August appointment I am down 18 more pounds and the doctor was thrilled. So now I am back to stage 3 for 3 days and stage 4 for 3 days. I will lose more weight doing those diets. Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.
  17. So today I go for my second fill. I do eat too much and too fast and when I eat too fast I know it. I have my son's dog since last night. My daughter-in-law is having a baby due around Xmas, last night she started to have a leak. So they kept her over night. Still no hard labor. Who knows when the baby will be born. She is at the same hospital as my doctor but no visitors in labor and delivery-so I will have to wait until the baby comes. They don't know the sex. My younger son has 2 boys, almost 5 and 12 1/2. Have a great day everyone.

Hi, I live in MA and all hospital ER's have to take all people even if they have no money. Go to your nearest ER and ask for help. Good luck. Also try to call your surgeon, maybe he/she has a heart. Good luck!!!

    sorry, never heard of it.
  22. Welcome to the banded life. You seem to be doing great. I love the protein shakes. It must be the brand and flavor. I only drink chocolate and add instant decaf coffee and peppermint extract and tons of ice to make into a thick shake. As I am writing I am having mine. I hate breakfast foods and have this every morning. Just remember, chew, chew, chew. I miss bread but have it sometimes just not the whole basket at my favorite restaurant. On this site you learn a lot. Good luck.
  23. Great blog. I may even buy the book. I will only buy a medical type book if it is recommended. Thank you! You look super.

Happy Monday, all. Does anyone have a stomach that gurgles everyday? Mine does every morning around 10:30-11:00am. I stay up very late and am still in bed at that time. Is this my stomach telling me get up and have my protein shake? Also, talking about noises, I burp a lot and hiccup. Is this normal? I am seeing my surgeon Thursday for my second fill. I think I have been eating a little too much at each meal, but when I am full I stop and don't push it at all. Enjoy your day, it's getting cold in Boston.
  25. Wonderful story and a successful shopping day at Talbots! Very nice MIL. I have a nice MIL who buys me things. I never think of going to Talbots and there is an outlet store not far from me. Thanks for the idea. Keep up the good work, you deserve it.
